This season was really tough because four or five of the guys were all the same for me, kind of mellow boy-band R&B. One was blind. One was Indian. One wore hats. And one strummed guitar. The guitar guy won, right?

"I don't see the one (rule) that requires posters to know the names of all Idol contestants. "

In real life, if you are compelled to speak about someone, you need to learn his/her name. It's a sign of acceptable manners even though it's not a requirement for this board.

So now we know that there are smaller group performances of Can't Hurry Love and Beggin'. I wonder if this is to end the first half? It seems like the top 4 aren't doing any group performances other than the very end.

IIRC, this makes sense to end the first half of the show - they'll usually close with a group number of the bottom 5 (or 6) leading into intermission.

Not sure I like the Kradam collaboration idea. Haven't they said repeatedly that they know their styles are so different (which they are), and, though it's not impossible for 2 different performers to collaborate (and do it well), I'm still not sure how well it would work with the two of them.

So I guess Perez Hilton reported that Adam went to the Adele/Etta James concert at the Hollywood Bowl tonight? Now I'm mad -- because I was actually thinking of going to that concert. But did I? Noooooooooooooooooooo. Instead I stayed home and wasted 3 hours watching the lame excuse that was the BET Awards (stupidstupidstupid).

Not that I would've likely seen Adam anyway -- the Bowl is huge with thousands of people everywhere. But still...

Hey, I care! ;) I think it's because they aren't many in this group you can start the dating rumor about, and the paps seem to catch them together in photos. Of course they are dating! ;)

Speaking of someone with no filter ' ¦ Gene does seem to love Adam though.

It sounds like back-handed compliments at best to me. Gene Simmons, slimeball that he is, has figured out that the press will pay attention to him if he talks about Adam, especially if he sounds controversial. It's what Gene Simmons has been doing for decades- staying famous by being outrageous, rather than producing music anyone wants to hear.

JOJOSIE- Actually, I did read about that, but I was just too lazy to type about it. hehe. I think the main writer was Melissa Joan Hart's husband and I remember her being really pissy towards Daughtry about it?

there's also a short article about Kris and Adam on Access Hollywood but it basically repeats the People article. I do love how Adam names everyone he works with while Kris is the opposite in which he is very tight-lipped.

According to Lyndsay Parker, in part of her interview with Lil, a few of them are doing Mad Con's Beggin as part of a group performance. I asked her per twitter (hehe.. it's funny how it's so easy to get some answers now) if everyone was in it or just some, and she said that it's not all of them but Anoop is in it. So now we know that there are smaller group performances of Can't Hurry Love and Beggin'. I wonder if this is to end the first half? It seems like the top 4 aren't doing any group performances other than the very end.

Thanks for that - that's interesting - so looks like they cut down on Megan's and Michael's songs (they only get 2 solo's unlike last year where the bottom two got 3 songs) so there would be more group numbers for the bottom 6. At the same time, there's more songs for the Top 4.

Um' ¦why are you refusing to use Kris's name? You don't have to like him (I like him but I love Adam), but he's not Voldemort, you can still be mature and say his name. Unless I'm missing another reason for not saying it?

I've read MJ's rules. I don't see the one that requires posters to know the names of all Idol contestants. I couldn't remember the kid's name during the season and, for me, winning hasn't made him any more memorable. I make no effort to learn their names unless I really like their singing or they are really hot (and female).

This season was really tough because four or five of the guys were all the same for me, kind of mellow boy-band R&B. One was blind. One was Indian. One wore hats. And one strummed guitar. The guitar guy won, right?

I think it's great that his fans are excited by his dramatic win. That's the way it should be. As many opinions about the outcome as there are fans.

I think the song that Chris and Ace"wrote" was only a co-write for both. The way I read it was the song was written words and music by a musican, mad at his manager and Chris and Ace just changed up some wording in the chorus so it would be about a man and a woman, instead of two men. That is one of the reasons that the current fad of singers also having to be songwriters annoys me. I'm older than most of you and grew up when singers sang and writers wrote and sometimes they did both but it wasn't any big deal and the music was still good.

Reposting this - since it was lost in the aftermath of the hacker attack.

Gene Simmons is at it again in an interview with Insidertv:

Adam Lambert's performance with Kiss on 'American Idol' was amazing. But I'm a little bummed you've been talking smack about him ' ¦

GS: I don't think I've been talking smack at all. In fact, if anything, I've been soft-peddling. He's enormously talented, best talent 'American Idol' has had, but I think he killed his career because now the conversation is not about his talent but about his sexual preference. He's done. You're forcing people to deal with issues they may not be interested in. Life is unfair, and the masses don't all live in L.A. They live in Wisconsin and Nebraska, and you're on crack if you think the same rules apply there. My advice is still the same, shut the f*** up, just sing and let people say whatever they want. But I do wish him the best because he's got all the talent in the world. If only the world was not homophobic, but it is. I would be the first one to vote for equal rights for gay women and men, and get the church and the state to stop telling everybody how to lead their lives, but do I think he's killed his career? Oh, in an instant. I hope I'm completely wrong. I hope he becomes the next Beatles and proves me wrong.

Speaking of someone with no filter ... Gene does seem to love Adam though.

Someone mentioned on another site that Adam is at the Adele concert tonight. Busy boy. And from Twitter, Danny is in Nashville and has two meetings tomorrow. Hmmmm...

Whoa, my comment up there got transferred over here from another post? Okay, haha.

So now we know that there are smaller group performances of Can't Hurry Love and Beggin'.

I guess this is going to be more S6 tour, less S7 with the different group performances and all that. I didn't go to the S6 one, but I heard it was better format-wise than last year's, so that's fine by me.

Again? When this blog got attacked awhile ago, I thought it was just a bitter/overprotective fan because of some of the posts at that time, but who would want to hack this place? It's not like there was anything controversial today. I hope this gets figured out.

ETA: And I agree with Lola, I need my daily fix of this blog :)

"I feel so sorry for the kid who won. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s like heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not even allowed to breath without being forced to figuratively hold hands with Adam Lambert."

Um...why are you refusing to use Kris's name? You don't have to like him (I like him but I love Adam), but he's not Voldemort, you can still be mature and say his name. Unless I'm missing another reason for not saying it?

I could possibly see Adam and Kris collaborating at some point in the future, but in this interview I think they were just being polite--they're going to be working on their solo efforts now.

Nice article about David Cook appearing in Aspen:

"Belly Up Aspen owner Michael Goldberg has never watched TV's 'American Idol,' but that didn't stop the local nightclub from booking 'Idol' sensation David Cook for what will undoubtedly be a sold-out show tonight.

"The singer-songwriter won season seven of the reality TV singing competition over runner-up David Archuleta and released a self-titled CD six months later that went platinum.

"According to the Belly Up's online bio of Cook, he rewrote history when 11 of his songs debuted on Billboard's Hot 100 chart à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬' the highest number of new entries in a single week by an artist since the Beatles in 1964.

"'He did a really successful spring tour, selling out everywhere,' Goldberg said.

"That, in itself, doesn't ensure an artist will resonate with an Aspen audience, but Goldberg ran Cook's name past a group of informal advisors (he consults different folks for artists of different genres). They resoundingly endorsed booking the club's first appearance by an 'American Idol' winner.

"'I'm excited to see the show. There are a whole lot of people who are excited to see this show,' said Goldberg, predicting a sellout."

I'm a lot more interested in the material Adam puts out and any possible collaborations on his album. Although a collabo with Allison later on, after their first individual albums, I would like

I can imagine Kris and Adam possibly writing a song together because I remember a lot of reporters telling them that they should work together since Chris Daughtry and Ace Young did and they wrote a hit. I think they got asked that too much and now it's ingrained in their minds. hehe.

Also, I thought their duets were pretty good. I'm sure if there was ever an actual duet, they could make it work while retaining their own styles.

In other news- weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re blue!

Oh good, I thought it was just my computer spazzing out or something.

I liked the ford commercial too, but they record the singers separately and then blend them together later, right? The song sounded great, they had to have mixed the hell out of it, but I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think it showcased either if the distinctive aspects of their voices. It sounded kind of generic to me, pretty but generic. The Queen song was fun, and I loved their solo parts in each song, but together Adam sounded like he was holding back and kris sounded strained. I love these guys together, seem be genuinely friends and close, charming and funny as hell but musicallyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦naaaah.

ITA. Kris and Adam are great as friends, but I don't think a duet would sound very good. I have a feeling they just mentioned it to keep the Kradam fangirls happy.

LisaE:

Thanks for the link to the People interview. A little bit of talk their about their albums, although nothing we didn't really know already. It sounds like both guys are being allowed to write, or co-write, a lot of the stuff for the album, which is very cool.

Only one week until the tour opens. All the Idols sound so excited about this (as I would be if I were going on tour). I hope the tour tuns out to be what they are hoping for. Only 19 days until I get to see for myself when the tour comes to Staples Center...

Same here. There is a lot they can possibly do together, but from what I know of them I don't actually care for the possibilities I can imagine. I thought that Ford Commercial was a cute montage retrospect, but musically it isn't something I'd care for from either of them and doubt they would put anything out like that (unless forced, which is always a possibility haha). I know of many artists who don't mesh on the surface that work in duets, but with these two establishing themselves it just doesn't sound likely. I am curious about what they would co-write would sound like though.

From a business standpoint, I don't see a Kradam duet really doing much anyway. If they want duets for Kris and Adam, it's best to go for established, non-AI artists to raise non-AI visibility.

although i understand the sentiment of the "why do we still need to talk about the friendship" comments because yes, we really should be talking about their music (although there really isn't any to speak of yet), i do think there is an audience that would benefit from hearing about their friendship and seeing it in action.

not everyone is as enlightened as we are here at MJs. a public example of two men that are very comfortable with one another despite differences in sexual preference is, in my opinion, a valuable image. think of the good that the image of the rat pack did. im, of course, not putting kris and adam anywhere near the level of the rat pack and their level of celebrity and talent... but i think it has been well recognized via rat pack lore that the race lines crossed in their alliance sent a very positive "by-example" message during the 50's and 60's when the US was going through the civil rights movement. well... we are in the middle of another civil rights movement and perhaps a few similar, high-profile friendships would do some good.
