As I have made abundantly (and embarrassingly) clear over the last few months, I dig the Idol and even went so far as to write a story about it. It’s an ‘American Idol’ reunion
In a cosmic confluence of celebrity concerts, Taylor Hicks and Chris Daughtry, two of the biggest stars of “American Idol,” will perform back-to-back shows in Biloxi next month.
Hicks will perform Aug. 3 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Tickets went on sale May 18 and are still available. Prices start at $40 for the cheap seats. The one-night-only show comes the night before Daughtry performs at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. That show sold out in mere hours, and is the third appearance the rocker has made in Biloxi in less than a month. Daughtry was one of many celebrities who participated in opening ceremonies at the Hard Rock last week and headlined the sold-out CPR Fest XI at the Coliseum later the same evening….

Nevada - at what age is a contract not valid because of age?
This is the way I understand the law:
A minor (under age of 18), is not old enough to enter into a legally binding contract without parental consent except for “necessities” .
I guess if Jordin’s parents co-sign the contract, it’s kosher.
It seems that some of them talk to other labels even before the 90 days are up. Ayla’s father announced her deal before the 90 day period was up and she signed a deal the day it expired (so clearly, it was negotiated during the 90 day period).
Likewise, Sundance’s dad has said in a couple of interviews that Sundance has a deal with Universal. Again, they’ve probably worked out the details.
Maybe people should forget Blake’s friends and try to chat up his dad. Dad’s seem to be the best sources for label information.
Babies as young as 3 weeks get work in television programs, so I guess there are contracts being signed in their names.
Underaged contracts are common enough that the biz must know what they are doing. I’m certain Hannah Montana (Miley) has a contract with Disney.
The record companies will often get the contract approved by the courts (according to this book I’m reading) so that the minor cannot later argue that the contract was not in their best interest.

I think the Blake fans have a right to be anxious. I’m not a Blaker Girl or anything but I look forward to his CD and hope he gets a good deal. I was an Elliott girl last year and was a nervous wreck over whether not he would be signed so I can relate. So now forget Jordin’s age or whatever, if blake is under 19E does he have to sign with Clive? Looking at Clive’s track record with material runner-ups usually get it might be for the best if he doesn’t.

Elliott had already started writing and had recorded most of “Movin’ On” before the 2006 AI tour started. He apparently had a lot more going on than he was telling. Most of the time it’s best to keep info to yourself until you have all of your ducks in a row.

gabam……….not trying to be sarcastic, but I wonder why Elliott’s cousin didn’t try to help him into the business before? Maybe he needed to see some confirmation that other people would like him, like a show like AI.
Generally speaking, minority is a defense to contract, meaning that individuals under the age of majority (usually 18) who sign or enter contracts — and yes, they do it all the time in the entertainment industry — may be able to use their tender age as an “out.”
It’s essentially a capacity argument; if she were to raise minority as a defense, Jordin would be saying, “I was incompetent to make this decision, never mind that I was determined to participate in American Idol and pursue a career as a recording artist.”
The parents (or guardian) may sign as well, but the lack of an adult’s signature should not automatically void the contract.
Mad, Elliott really did not let anyone, except close friends, know that he was interested in making singing a profession.
Josh lived in LA. Since Elliott never told him, he never knew.

Re: Kat’s “sexiness” or lack thereof, I do think she is a beautiful girl. She’s sexy, I guess, in a dorky sort of way, but she’s not a skank(TM sarahinwva) and she’s not a sex kitten. She looks awkward trying to be a sex kitten. I think she’s “sexy” in a Doris Day sort of way, not Sofia Loren.

Kellie and Bucky are going to be performing before huge crowds next week at Jamboree In The Hills near St. Clairsville Ohio. Kellie will be on stage on thursday July 19 at 6:45pm and Bucky will be there on sunday , July 22 at 1:50pm. Some of this festival is televised live on the Stubenville tv station but not sure if Kellie or Bucky will be shown or not.

I wouldn’t worry about Jordin being under 18 and signing a contract. From the audition on, the rules of Idol contain the following language: “If you are under 18 years of age, both you and your parent or legal guardian must sign each of the forms and cooperate in having the forms court approved, if and when requested by producer.”
I’m just catching up after being gone to the Greenville show Tuesday night.
