…Blake Lewis’ Yet-Untitled Debut
Why Will It Suck?: Lewis himself describes his first album as “electro-funk-soul-pop,” and to that end, he’s already lined up a techno guy to produce it (BT) and promises (threatens?) that it’ll feature a beatboxing spot by Doug E. Fresh. Also, given that this is Blake Lewis, one can only assume that there will also be cameos from dude-core greats like 311 and Pepper. Also, throw in “American Idol” buddy/ poor-man’s JT Chris Richardson too. Sounds awful…
Sparks to perform at Jobing.com Arena Wednesday
Glendale’s American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, will once again sing for her hometown.
The 2007 American Idols Live summer concert tour plays at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Jobing.com Arena. The performance marks Jordin’s first return home since she had two weeks’ vacation to spend with her family in early June, after a whirlwind media tour following her Idol win….
Pair dressed to kill as Emmy comes calling
….Speaking of not catching a break, TV’s biggest hit, Fox’s “American Idol,” is poised to become the most significant flop in Emmy annals this year. Not only has the show lost out to CBS’ “The Amazing Race” in the reality-competition series grouping for four consecutive years, it has zero statuettes to show for its 22 nominations all told. If it remains winless for three more nominations, “Idol” will tie “The Bob Newhart Show” for greatest Emmy futility. Four more and it stands alone. Stay tuned….
Westwood singer scores on TV
Robert Hatcher finally sang an entire song on a national TV show, and the judges loved him.
Now his fate is up to “America’s Got Talent” viewers.
The Metropolitan Sewer District worker from Westwood sang Whitney Houston’s “Run to You” on NBC’s live telecast Tuesday, six months after he was first seen – briefly – on Fox’s “American Idol.”…….

Carrie Underwood plans fall CD release
‘I’m not gonna try and top the first one,’ says the former ‘Idol’ winner
Former “American Idol” champ Carrie Underwood will drop the follow up to her debut album, “Some Hearts,” on Oct. 23.
The as-yet-untitled release was produced by Mark Bright, who previously worked on seven cuts from Underwood’s first effort. Bright has also produced albums for Sara Evans and Rascal Flatts.
Underwood co-wrote several of the tracks on her upcoming release, though no song titles have been announced. The blond crooner previously helped write the “Some Hearts” cut “I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore.”……..
The Society of Seven earns standing ovations for 2 shows
…Vocal soloists Lani Misalucha and guest singer Jasmine Trias were excellent. Besides her Celine Dion impersonation, pops and Broadway tunes, Lani went operatic with “Nessun Dorma” from “Turandot” and brought the house down. Jasmine, Hawaii’s “American Idol” star, has certainly grown up. Like Lani, she was decked out in fabulous form-fitting gowns as she performed “Idol” and Broadway numbers…
Little Big Town hits big leagues with CMA Music Fest appearance

Former ‘American Idol’ Semifinalist Weighs In On Miss New Jersey’s Photo Scandal
Early this month, Miss New Jersey Amy Polumbo announced that someone was trying to blackmail her into giving up her crown by threatening to release embarrassing photos posted on her Facebook social networking page. Polumbo admitted that some of photos showed her acting in an unladylike manner, but the Miss New Jersey pageant board decided not to disqualify her because the photos did not feature nudity.
21-year old Antonella Barba found herself in a similar situation while she was a semifinalist during this year’s American Idol. Although no one was attempting to blackmail Barba, a set of photos that showed her posing provocatively spread throughout the internet, creating some negative publicity for both Barba and the show. American Idol producers decided not to disqualify Barba, but she was eliminated right before the Finals………

I hope so too. The dog days of summer drag while we try to piece together the crumbs we are dropped. Hopefully, Blake both stays true to his vision and puts out a great album.
I remember one of the dress rehearsal reports from Bon Jovi night described Blake’s performance of YGLABN as “a hot mess of awesome.” LOL. Blake’s descriptions of his new songs are pretty random, but he’s got me intrigued. And on the brightside, the (lucky!!) blogger that listened to his tracks liked them.
I don’t know a lot about BT, but hey, if he hasn’t done anything relevant for years, maybe he’s due! I’m really more excited about the Ryan Tedder collaboration. OneRepublic’s stuff is kinda Britpop meets electro…which is sooo Blake to me.
Anyway, we’ll see I guess! His album could be YGLABN, or it could be “You Should Be Dancing.” Heh.
Right you are, Kirsten! Not everyone likes asparagus either! The main thing is that he can add “published author” to his reportoir, he made a ton of money from it, it keeps his name out there until the next CD or DVD or whatever he has planned and his fans are happy! I suspect he’s in a VERY good place mentally these days, what with all these products he has out now and his personal life seems to be flourishing - and yes, he did say the “L” word when asked about CL. That’s so cute :)
“You don’t have to spill gossip not to be boring. There are lots of fascinating books on very dry subjects. And there are some very DULL books on gossipy subjects. It’s a matter of how the narrative is constructed, the phrasing used, motivations explored, etc.”
Ever read Salt? Fascinating book on a plain, plain subject.
That said, I enjoyed the TH memoir - it’s a memoir folks, not an autobiography. I found it funny and touchingly honest at times. But, most of all, it was exactly what it should have been. No lives were destroyed in the making of this good summer read.
LOL, I have “Salt” on my bookshelf!
I hadn’t heard of it, but I just looked it up. Sounds interesting. I’ll have to give it a read.
Thanks for bringing it up.
I’m hoping for a bit of “Somewhere Only We Know” and “Time of the Season” Blake in the mix too.
Top Ten events (in no particular order) that I secretly wish for to make Season Six more headlines-worthy:
Drug Bust
Pregnancy
Sex Change
Rehab Stint
Wardrobe Malfunction
IUI (Interviewing while under…)
Sex Tape
Paternity Suit
Scientology Conversion
Contract Violation with Penalty
I’ve read lots of memoirs. In my opinion, a well written memoir is unflinchingly honest and is written by an author willing and/or able to dig deep. I didn’t find that to be the case with Taylor’s book.
It’s a souvenir book for his fans. It seems to please many of his fans, so mission accomplished. But I don’t think it stands up as either good memoir or autobiography.
Now this could get good. :-)
Add to that list a Paula/Chris R. affair rumor.
If he has 400,000 (# of initial book pressings) fans willing to automatically buy the book, then he and his publisher should be estactic! Personally, I think a fair share of people will be just interested folks (either fans of AI in general or those interested in the topic of a struggling musician who makes good).
First and foremost it is, like Clay and Fantasia before him, a ’strike while the iron is hot’ deal and both he and Random House will make money off of it. It’s not “War and Peace” and I think Taylor will be the first to admit it, but it made his fan base happy and perhaps solidified them (while picking up a few more along the way).
So yes, mission was accomplished :)
Can I assign these gossip storylines???
Drug Bust - Blake
Pregnancy - Jordin
Sex Change - Sanjaya
Rehab Stint - Phil
Wardrobe Malfunction - Haley. Duh.
IUI (Interviewing while under…) - Lakisha
Sex Tape - Gina
Paternity Suit - Chris R. (to go with Jordin’s pregnancy since she is in luuuuuuuv)
Scientology Conversion - Melinda
Contract Violation with Penalty - Chris Sligh
Paula had an affair with Chris?!?????
Now, that’s desperate.
“If he has 400,000 (# of initial book pressings) fans willing to automatically buy the book, then he and his publisher should be estactic!”
Well, since the “OMG he’s gonna sell over 1,000,000 CDs his first week!!!11!!!” prediction missed its mark by just a tad, guess I’ll take wacky fan predictions for $200, Alex.
Well thank goodness we’ll NEVER know exactly how many units [tm: clive davis] the book sells since the public isn’t privy to that confidential information. Just as well……… All I know is that advancement to authors are based on projected sales. Let’s leave it at that.
IdolChatter has a followup on the AI6 download numbers. Basically Blake and Jordin killed the rest of the finalists on download sales every week going back to Top 12.
