For the best and the worst, Adam has by far the craziest fans of all this year.

From your lips to God's ears. From almost the very beginning of the season, I've had the feeling that that fandom would give the Claymates a run for their money.

Eileen: This particular young lady changed over after many years of playing the violin and qualifying for all-west(all-district)in sixth-eighth grade. It took her three years to get back to qualifying for all-west again. My daughter just got back from TN governor's school and those kids are AMAZING! I'm referring to that level of playing: all-state,governor's school, major scholorships, etc. If you are really advanced, it probably takes longer to get back to that level! Oh well, it's too late for her to change now anyways!

Which should make those who freaked out on the girl, or made OTT assumptions about her character, feel pretty silly, I hope.

Silly is the word!

nope.. However i'll agree with you that's it's better to check the facts before.
I can be wrong or right or somewhere in the middle, i don't have a problem with that. Hope it's same for you

Regarding Vanessa Franko's review which contained this:

It's no surprise that Adam Lambert brought the theatrics to the table, but he wailed out a great version of 'Whole Lotta Love' but then gave the weakest vocal performance of the night with a cover of Muse's 'Starlight.' He recovered with 'Mad World' and some fog machines. I also loved how he kind of thumbed his nose at what 'Idol' is supposed to be about and did some seductive dance moves and ended with a David Bowie medley.

So I'm fine with bad Adam reviews, but the hyperbole involved with the line in bold above is what would make me question this one. Really? Weakest vocal of the night? Uh, just a guess, but I can't imagine Megan, Michael, Scott, and most of the others didn't come up with SOMETHING that was maybe kinda a little worse.

BTW - I did notice the retraction later, which was kind of funny. Still, I guess my point is that bad Adam reviews are fine, just not when it's that much off base, logic wise.

Exactly. Regardless of whether or not the other AIers are 'friends of a friend' that doesn't mean she loses her right to have an opinion. All the poor girl said was she found his set dull yet you'd think she accused him of being a child molester, given the reaction.

Apparently the snore comment was not directed at Kris set, so who knows? I think we really shouldn't be so hasty judge.

yeah, I just went to check by myself. Unfortunate timing in the context... lol

I must admit I was finding that very surprising coming from an artist like her

I have to say, based on everyone's favorite movie, Matt wins the prize in my book :-) I love The Godfather, and he quoted one of my all time favorite scenes there. I haven't seen Velvet Goldmine, but that looked pretty interesting too.

She's tactless for saying what she felt in HER twitter page, as she watched the concert? She found Allen's set boring, it's that simple

Exactly. Regardless of whether or not the other AIers are "friends of a friend" that doesn't mean she loses her right to have an opinion. If somebody says they think Kris has a dull performance, the response shouldn't be comparable to the person saying "Kris is a child molester," and, unfortunately, it was darn close to it.

And the reaction is particularly ridiculous in light of the fact that people didn't even read the tweet correctly so they got their panties in a bunch over something that evidently wasn't even said.

Tiger92: I wonder if your daughter's violin teacher just doesn't want her to switch and is therefore being discouraging? My son easily picked up the violin without very much transition time when some friends needed a 2nd violin for a gig. I think it depends on the student. If she's talented and willing to practice, it is certainly not a 3-year process. More like working really hard to get comfortable and learn the rep over a summer (or maybe a school year) - I know many high school students who have switched between the 2 very successfully and who are now music majors in college playing the instrument they switched to.

Sorry for the italics - couldn't figure out how to turn them off!

will,

you said you played viola for many many years. i'm curious to know if a violist can play violin too and be quite as good? Like piano players who can switch keyboards type of instrument

Mtlfan, I did take up violin many years after I had begun on viola, and while it wasn't a huge learning curve, it never felt quite as comfortable. I wouldn't want to make any generalizations about it though -- I think it depends on the individual. Many people do play both equally well.

Thanks for you comment Eileen99

I did a little research in the use of viola in pop/rock

Here's an example of a viola solo in a pop song ('dust in the wind' by Kansas)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goHYC6sfS2Q&feature=related

Another one (electric viola) from alternative rock (Velvet Underground 'Stephanie says')
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8jGKp4kbeM

one more contemporary by the Flobots (Rise) -- hip hop

Curiously, I don't think it was done by Kris Allen fans.
Alisan Porter is a friend of Adam, why would there be Kris fans following her? Moreover, the more hateful and crazy stuff come from that ontdai community, basically the ones behind the whole Kradam stuff.

Tweets of diff people at an AI concert are posted as the show goes along, usually in the thread for each show, Mj's log does it, ontd_Ai does it. You dont have to follow the individual, people just post the comments as they come, and then when they posted Alisan's,the pile on came. I dont know how twitter works, but reading the comments myself, basic common sense tells me they were mostly Kradam fans on Ontd_Ai who are primarily Allen fans.

My point is, the rabidness exists all around, esp true for Allen and lambert fans this year, no one fan group is better than the other IMO and the knee jerk responses are infantile and plain ridiculous

Eileen:Concerning the violin vs. viola...my daughter's violin teacher told her it wouldn't be a simple transition. (Her teacher is the concert master for the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.) However, one of her friends in the orchestra at school switched three years ago. It took her that long to get back to the level she was at with the violin and this past year she made all-state! So, I do think the transition can be done-but, you can't just interchange them easily. Bass clef...treble clef...I don't really know. haha. My daughter is the musical wiz and I just listen and apppreciate musicians of any kind! So, there are pop songs with viola solos? Which ones? Off to youtube to search!

Wow - that's crazy, boundaries should be respected. I think something similar happened to Neil Lambert, he closed the comments on his blog a while back

it is crazy.Twitter is still sort of a loose cannon for me in that regard, say one thing and a bunch of crazies just get intoyou,LOL!

She just said "Snooze" when Allen's set was on, and voila..... a pile on with comments that sounded like they were coming from a bunch of 6 year olds!

The pile on on Alisan porter's twitter page when she dared to say she found Kris Allen boring is enough of proof of that.

I guess the whole thing that Kradam is love and a symbol of tolerance doesn't apply if you dare to criticize one of them?

Now, maybe I'm a bit stupid '” but there is a lot of difference between writing that Starlight was 'the weakest vocal performance of the night' and today's comment that she thought the key was too high and it didn't show off his voice as well as it could have.

She's pandering, and feeling the need to justify her comments, and she shouldnt have to! Mansfield also had to clarify some of his comments, as did the yahoo interviewer from the pile on!

I wish they wouldnt fall for the trap and wouldnt do that. Anybody who doesnt like a differing opinion or a little criticism of their fav should grow a thicker skin and stuff it,IMO!

Reviewers shouldnt have to "wet nurse" people's obsessive behaviour!
