The Idols have Landed in Fresno
The top ten finalists are on tour through September, making stops in four to five cities every week.
Chris Richardson, American Idol finalist, says, “We leave every night after our concert and just drive all night and then come into the next venue the next morning, get a couple of hours rest in the hotel and then we start rehearsing for the show that night. It’s a hectic schedule, a lot of sleep deprivation, but we’re gonna be alright.” ….

Daughtry, Staind and Nickelback satisfy
…Friday-afternoon traffic became an X factor in the program, as I-69 and at least one supposed “shortcut” to the venue were backed up for miles.
After singing his first number at 7:40 p.m., Daughtry vocalist Chris Daughtry told the nearly packed house that he and his bandmates had just arrived at Verizon…
Music: Chris Daughtry: Revenge of the rocker
Voted off “American Idol,” undaunted Chris Daughtry bounces back with 2007’s top-selling album.
It was Vince Lombardi, or Paula Abdul, or someone on ESPN’s “Sportscenter” who once said, “Winning isn’t everything.”…….
Emmy 2007 Analysis: ‘American Idol’
American Idol is a little like Susan Lucci. Idol hasn’t reached the sort of award futility that Lucci endured, but it has to be just as painful. Idol is the biggest show in the world, a ratings monster, a cultural phenomenon which has created numerous pop stars. The only thing it hasn’t accomplished, it seems, is the recognition that comes with an Emmy win……

”Idol” season 5’s Kellie Pickler talks about wigging out, dealing with rumors, the Kelly Clarkson controversy, and regrets for ”Small Town Girl”
Kellie Pickler is living proof that ”polarizing” works. There’s something to be said for the fact that so far, she’s the lowest-ranking American Idol finalist to have a gold album…..
Simon Cowell as protector?
They are constantly bickering as fellow judges on American Idol, but now Mr Nasty is showing his soft side, as he considers Paula Abdul’s interests at heart.
Simon is determined to examine and scrutinise Paula’s new boyfriend - restaurateur JT Torregiani - to make sure he is a suitable match. The twosome have been dating for over a month, and she celebrated her 45th birthday last month at his west Hollywood diner Ketchup - which he co-owns with Tara Reid - at which he was seen at her side for the whole night…..
William Hung entertains Cutters’ fans
The singing lessons have paid off for “American Idol” castoff William Hung.
Fans at the New Haven County Cutters game who heard the baby-faced, tone-deaf Hung wail admitted as much as they lined up for the dollar drafts on “Thirsty Thursday.” ………
Boyz II Men Planning Big Comeback
…Boyz II Men have recently re-signed with Universal Records to work on a new album, which will be a collection of Motown hits from the ’60s and ’70s. They are co-producing this album with Randy Jackson, one of the judges on American Idol….

* guess what I read when I first saw this? GWD!!
Feel free to add your up to date newslinks, normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Meanwhile back to my clean up operation.
So sorry Lisa. What a colossal headache.
P.S. Do you know how to swim? I worry.
Hi Lisa, hope everything is well with you and everything gets back to normal soon :-)
I liked the interview with Chris Daughtry. My only complaint? The press are constantly trying to paint Taylor as a jerk by asking him how it feels to be outsold by Daughtry, just to see how he reacts. How come no one ever asks Chris how it feels to have sold more albums than Taylor Hicks? I think that’d be fun. Equal opportunity here. :-)
LisaB, I am sorry you are having to deal with the mess of being flooded.
Has the water stopped rising, yet?
Cheers to dry times.
JMO, but I sometimes feel these reviewers and critics just feed off of the preceived attitude surrounding these Idols from one season to season. I feel some couldn’t careless about either Taylor nor Chris. I don’t see them really fanning the competitive flames between Blake and Jordin or any of this past season’s Idols. This time last year every other article was praising Chris and panning Taylor while they were on the AI Tour. I’m not really following any of this past season’s crew except for what is posted on this board but I don’t get the feeling, even from this board, that there is any real competition; nor is the critical vibe weighing heavily one way or another. No one is asking the question, did the right person win? But, that attitude was very strong during Season Five and continues even into today. Something tells me that even if Blake outsells Jordin the media won’t make a big deal about it nor continually shove it in her face. Heck, they did not make a big deal out of those I-tune sales when their singles were released. What’s going on with Taylor and Chris kind of reminds me of what was going on between Ruben and Clay.
Today is HPWD.
Hahaha, rad, you must be thrilled! ;-)
LisaB- Hang in there girl. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this.
HPWD????? Man I am slow - I dont get it.
Me either, Lu.
Hope your head is above water, Lisa.
Taylor’s “bookreading” in Birmingham last night was
streamed by Fox 6 at 9:30 pm so many of us watched then
(tally read 300 tuning in). It was a very special,
intimate event where we were given more than a glimpse
of Taylor for over an hour as he is…. a bit ADHD and
brutally honest. He feels a lot of love from his fans
and showed us he is most appreciative of every one of us.
Taylor has a quality lacking in many young adults today..
compassion for humanity and a soul that he wears on his
sleeve.
Taylor was beautiful inside and out last night and I hope
many of you caught the stream. Have a great day !!
For those who still remember ( or care )…
Well, Constantine finally got to kiss the girl in the Bold and the Beautiful. But it ain’t the young girl — Phoebe. It was an older ( and sexier ) woman — Felicia. See the episode here.

Thanks for the news links, lisab. Hoping for a speedy cleanup. :)
Thanks db. I should have been able to figure that out since I had to drive my 15 year old to Barnes and Noble at 8:30 this morning. At least he didn’t ask me to take him at midnight last night. Thanks goodness for small favors!
Chris actually had been asked in various interviews earlier in the year about outselling Taylor and how he felt about it. His answer was basically that they were not in competition with each other and he wished Taylor all the success in the world and then changed the subject.
However, now that Chris has the #1 CD so far of 2007, Chris is asked how it feels to outsell popular acts such as Fergie, Jay-Z, Linkin Park, and Gwen Stephani, etc. In terms of Daughtry, slowly the media is moving away from the American Idol Season 5 competition and broadening it to all the pop and rock acts that Daughtry is competing with.
I didn’t know that, squishy, but it’s good to know. Chris for the most part strikes me as a class act who’s as put off by the constant comparisons as the fans are.
Two things stuck with me from that candid interview -
The part when he said, “if he can continue to make a decent living and provide for his family, then he’ll be happy”? Loved that! I have a feeling CL (whom we *almost* met, captured him hook line and sinker.) He seems very happy.
Also, he mentioned that his second album will have much more of his input into the production and songwriting. He implied that he will have a lot of time after his tour in Sept to do collaborations with a lot of different people - that is, if $Clive$ doesn’t do another Kelly C.
hey griz don’t forget he has a few john mayers songs on the next one…and that should be real kool..do you think his single will come out a few months before his album..the first time he put the album out and that did not work..hope clive likes it so much he’ll give taylor the means to make a video too
Right platinumgray - he did re-mention that ’soul-ballad’ collaboration with John Mayer yesterday, mentioning he was glad it did not gel in time for his first album. That will prolly make it’s appearance on album #2. I personally don’t care about videos at this point - I just hear a complete and true Taylor Hicks album - his vision of an album, not Clive’s.
That’s all fine and dandy for what Taylor wants to do. But as we’ve found out with Kelly who IMO is a more proven hit maker, and more well known, it’s not up to them it’s up to Clive or else you feel the Evil C wrath of hell
Did someone mention John Mayer? Oh, why not toss in a bit of Eric Clapton for good measure:

Griz, was the interview referenced above captured anywhere that it can still be heard? Thanks for your help!
That’s terrific. Seems it would be smart of $Clive$ (lol) to let Taylor be Taylor this time around - it worked for D. I really do hope for a different producer on Taylor’s next CD who would be able to lend a richer, fatter sound. It’s going to be a long wait, but should be well worth it ;)
Interesting article this week at CNN about the sustained sales of established artists - which begs the question - will the music of Daughtry and his rock contemporaries stand the test of time? (hope it’s ok to post, MJ)

LisaB, know you must be exhausted by now…hope things are much improved.

To see Taylor’s more than an hour long interview, look on Gypsee’s site, TaylorMadeOnline.org under Media for a download.
Regarding Taylor’s interview, Gypsee asked that it stay as a download only and that it not be posted on a video site, such as You Tube or Go Fish.
Gypsee goes to a lot of effort for Taylor and his fans. We really appreciate all that she does!
Very few rock groups are able to stand the test of time over a 2-5 year period with high record sales…. I think I can count them on one hand. Reason being mainly cuz the musical landscape changes.
Thanks so much, hickifino! I have no problem with downloading it!
Taylor needs to pull out a kickass sophmore album. Anything less will be problematic for him. And no more talk of modern whomp, whatever the hell that means. Just give us something worth listening to!
