‘American Idol’ Is Down, but Is It Out?
Fox made no announcement Monday about its biggest show, allowing wild speculation about the future of “Idol” to continue: Is Simon Cowell and Ellen Degeneres? Will the show’s original producer come back to save it?

‘American Idol’ Finalist — Fury Over Hunting Show
While promoting her new reality/hunting show “Goin’ Country, ” Cook — who placed 7th on “Idol” in 2008 — recently said, “I never used to like killing animals until I got out and experienced it. It’s the food chain. Animals are here for us to eat.”
Obviously, the statement didn’t sit well with the group In Defense of Animals, who see things a little differently … saying, “Contrary to Kristy Lee’s beliefs, animals are meant to live out their lives in peace, not to be killed for our enjoyment.”

Ruben Studdard & Clay Aiken: primed for Vegas
It isn’t as though the careers of Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken have stalled, despite the modest turnout for the pair’s performance Sunday evening at Club Nokia in the downtown L.A. Live complex.
The winner and runner-up of American Idol’s second season (2003) have both maintained solid record sales and noteworthy philanthropy while simultaneously diversifying their portfolios. Studdard, for starters, earned positive notices for playing Fats Waller in a recent touring revival of the 1978 musical Ain’t Misbehavin’, while also garnering strong reviews (including a B+ from Entertainment Weekly) for his fourth album, last year’s Jam & Lewis-produced Love Is. After years of seeming stiff on stage and in front of cameras — a marvelous voice unmatched by a compelling personality — the Velvet Teddy Bear has developed into an easygoing charmer whose appeal still has untapped potential to expand beyond his core R&B demographic.

‘Glee’: More details on Britney Spears, Susan Boyle and Rocky Horror
Did “American Idol” approach him to judge? “Yes, they did actually. I cannot comment on that.”
“Susan [Boyle] is on the same label as us. I guess she’s a fan of the show. She’s coming out with a Christmas album, so the story I want to do for our Christmas episode is have Kurt give her some sort of fantastic makeover and have her sing a song from her album on the show. She’ll be playing a character.”
“So I’m directing the episode where [Brittany and Santana will] kiss a couple times. I think the key is to do it a couple times so it doesn’t seem forced. I don’t think you have to announce a very special episode like back when they did it on ‘Roseanne.’ It just seems so outdated and archaic to me. As a gay man, I would never do that. I would make it very organic and do it several times and not make it a stunt.”
