On Tour with American Idol: The Haley Scarnato Q&A

As any weary traveler will tell you, living out of a suitcase eventually takes its toll. So it’s no wonder that Haley Scarnato recently told TV Guide that she could barely remember what city she was visiting when we caught up with her during the 45-date American Idols Live! tour. “Where are we today?” she asked backstage at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. “For me, the hardest thing is knowing where you’re at. Hopefully, I do the right shout-out on stage!” We invited the songstress to jog her memory and share her thoughts on after-Idol life…..

American Idol competition not what local talent expected

…”I don’t regret going, but I wouldn’t do it again, ” Carter said. “It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be, but I wouldn’t have known that if I hadn’t tried. To me, it seemed more about entertainment than real talent and a singing competition. Some of the contestants who made it through were the ones who made the biggest fools of themselves.”

American Idol | Registration slows down as auditions near

….It’s still not too late to register to audition as the arena remains open all day and night for this purpose, but Libby urges that those who are interested take advantage of Tuesday’s quiet afternoon because producers can shut down registration at any time early Wednesday morning.

The ”big day” includes a press conference at 6 a.m. from Idol producer Patrick Lynn, who welcomes the masses to Miami; a performance from Idol Season 4 finalist Constantine Maroulis; and the judging. Those who get a pass from producers will have the opportunity to audition for TV judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul sometime in September.

Here’s what some locals plan to sing to convince producers that they are the seventh American Idol:

Is FOX Burying ‘The Next Great American Band’?

The Next Great American Band (or American Band, if you’re into the whole brevity thing) is the newest project from the American Idol production team. The concept is simple: American Idol with bands. This being the case, you’d think FOX would be going nuts with the hype and attempt to turn the show into another juggernaut from savvy English gentlemen Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe. But, weirdly, this does not seem to be the case. FOX has given American Band the death trap of a Friday time slot. If FOX were truly high on American Band, one would assume that they’d give the show similar treatment to Idol or even So You Think You Can Dance, with a Tuesday/Thursday or a Wednesday/Thursday time slot in order to thrive. Does FOX know something we don’t?……..

The ‘American Idol’ tryouts: Judging a dream
Helping pick just one Buffalo Idol proves to be harder than it looks on TV

It looks so easy on television. There would be a guy in an astronaut suit, another who looked like a ‹bush baby, a couple of shrieking young women with tooshort skirts and too-low tops. It would be fun, and funny.

Instead, helping judge the …Buffalo Idol contest over the weekend at the Fashion Outlets in Niagara Falls was unexpectedly hard and a bit heartbreaking.

Ive reported on the hit …American Idol show for several seasons, but this was my first time actually taking a small part in the process of choosing a star. Channel 29, WUTV, runs one of the many local contests that give the winner a trip to Idol tryouts ‘ in this case, next week in Philadelphia ‘ and a guaranteed audition before one of the producers……

Daughtry – Daughtry (Epic)
UK release date: 20 August 2007

….It’s an album that travels much the same road throughout, with Daughtry’s sole lyricism lent to broken home tales like All These Lives and Used To, whilst the tinkling piano intro backing the only non-Daughtry composition, the fantastically catchy What About Now sees the band in fine fettle, proving that MOR tunes about the same ol’ same ol’ really aren’t a dying breed in this world of guy-liner and boys wearing girls jeans….

Seacrest in!
The “American Idol” host is set to emcee this year’s Emmy Awards.

….Like all awards programs, the Emmys has seen its audience erode and is hoping Seacrest’s widespread appeal can reverse the troubling trend. Last year, the Emmys gathered an average audience of 16.2 million on NBC, sliding 13% compared with the previous year on CBS and off nearly one-fifth compared with the 2002 broadcast, according to figures from Nielsen Media Research.

In what was considered a bold move to revive the franchise, the Emmys originally hired “American Idol” executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick in February to spearhead the show. At the time, Warwick told The Times the “American Idol” producing team was going to “shock” viewers, but the pair backed out in the spring, citing a jam-packed schedule. Ehrlich, who has produced the Emmys show three times already, stepped in.

Seacrest, who accepted the Emmy hosting offer Monday morning, after which a press release was quickly sent out, said the program may change slightly to play to his improvisational skills…..

‘Canadian Idol’ axes Regina teen

….Original American Idol Kelly Clarkson also put in a good effort on our side of the border for this week’s “My Own Idol” themed episodes. Monday she provided some useful advice to the final five contenders who choose their own tunes, and Tuesday – looking cute as a bunny in black skinny pants and a sparkly top and shrug – she showed ’em how it’s done with emotive singles Never Again and Because of You….
