“This is a dream come true. It’s something I have always wanted to do since I started in music, ” Garcia said earlier this month during the show’s Summer Tour.

Gaga comparison aside, Carrie underwhelms

Call it blonde ambition. Or estrogen in overdrive. Or Jupiter aligned with the North Star.

Whatever it was, blockbuster femme music overtook St. Paul on Tuesday with Carrie Underwood, the “American Idol” turned country queen, at the State Fair and pop supernova Lady Gaga at Xcel Energy Center for a second night.

Underwood is the anti-Gaga. That is obvious simply by comparing one line from Underwood’s opening tune, “Cowboy Casanova, ” and one from Gaga’s closing number, “Bad Romance.”

Marshall’s a Clay-mate

Pop singer Clay Aiken helped Democratic Senate candidate Elaine Marshall at a Durham fundraiser Friday night.

Aiken was the special guest along with state Treasurer Janet Cowell at an event held at the home of Ama lendu and Arundhati Chatterjee in Durham. The price of admission ranged from $2, 400 for hosts to $100 for guests.

Aiken, who grew up in Raleigh, backed Marshall’s former rival Cal Cunningham in the Democratic primary in the spring.

Simon Cowell wants to sign Katy Perry as judge on American X Factor

Simon Cowell is so Xstatic about Katy Perry’s scene-stealing stint as a judge, he wants to Factor her in for a repeat performance…

Singer Katy, 25, did so well on the panel for the X Factor auditions in Dublin, Simon has offered her a pay-per-show deal on the US version of his hit series.

Sources say Katy could pocket £220, 000 a show.

Impressed with her off-the-cuff comments and deadpan quips, Simon, 50, contacted her at the end of last week – before her appearance on the ITV1 show had even aired.
