Aha, I knew it! And the guests too! That’s just right. Her show, her choice. She chose the duet song with Brad Paisley too… he complained it was too wordy, haha!

A little more about the guests

Carrie hand selected her guests, all of whom are friends (Kristen Chenoweth, Christina Applegate, Sons of Sylvia (formerly called The Clarke Brothers), Dolly Parton & Brad Paisley (the latter two will be taping tomorrow, alas David will not – he’s on a red-eye to Indiana right now).

Excerpts from a recap posted on DCO by Scott:

“Lie” knocked me over the first time, but the second pass it happened. The hairs on my neck shot up, as did the hairs on my arm. A capella was included, but at the mic. Powerful. Audience was perfect. Quiet where they needed to be quiet, cheering where they needed to be cheering…(snip)..The duet. Man that rocked. Van Halen’s “Why Can’t This Be Love.” The chemistry between Carrie & David is fantastic. Love, love, love the together, and they clearly enjoy working with one another….(snip)…David looked and sounded his best, and it is NOT a schmaltzy holiday special. Very few Christmas references (just a few numbers), very secular, very rock and country. Surprised how much it rocked. Happy about that….

Oh, almost forgot. David did a wicked guitar solo during the Van Halen duet.! He moved to front, stage right and the steady cam zoomed in on his guitar and he was great. He was also doing some of the Van Halen riffs while they were waiting to roll tape. He was really into that song. That boy has picked up some skilz this past year! After 130+ shows, I would think so!

I hope the reports about Lie are true, but, then again, that gets me dreaming that they’re just waiting for the last leg of the tour to start up in a couple of weeks to announce that it’s the next single. Always something to angst about when you’re a Cook fan, LOL.

Heh. There were 2081 people on DCO as of 30 minutes ago because one of the people attending said he may have recaps/pics by 10:30pm PST or so. Lots of peeps from the later time zones were staying up just for the tiniest of crumbs (such as whether he shaved or not). Absurd is right.

You mean like this? I always wanted to know what caused them to crack up like that.

One of them was supposed to sing the line, “go your own way” in the chorus after they sang “You can go your own way”, and neither one of them did. Hence the look and laugh at each other. Carrie fans say that Cook missed it, Cook fans think that Carrie did. In future chorus repeats, Carrie sings the line. At 1:50 in in this video is where they cracked up.

Yes, I admit it, I’ve watched this video a few times.

I just hope that Adam’s album cover will be strong enough to reach out and grab people’s attention when they are standing in the store in front of the what’s new in music section looking for one of these other artists. While a lot of people thought Allison’s cover was a little too colorful, I loved it for just that reason, it will stand out and capture peoples attention.

Of all things to worry about, this isn’t it. Not with our glittery alien from the Planet Fierce (I hope I got that right, it’s late). Not a chance.
