Archuleta to visit Seton
Seton High School will rock Friday morning when “American Idol†runner-up David Archuleta visits the West Price Hill school.

Archuleta, 17, will attend an 10:30 a.m. assembly at the all-women’s school, which collected more than $3,000 in pennies for breast cancer research in a WKRQ-FM (101.9) contest.
The singer starts his day on Q102’s Jeff & Jenn Morning Show at 9 a.m.
“The students are really charged. It’s rather electric up here,†says Principal Susan M. Gibbons.
“We’re told he’s willing to answer questions and pose for pictures with groups. We’re hoping he’s going to sing, but we don’t know until he sees our auditorium,†she says.
Sick of Cloris’ shtick
It’s not merely that everyone there is astonished the 82-year-old Chicago native has survived in the competition this long — it’s her over-the-top brassiness and in-your-face humor that has everyone upset.
”We thought it would be fun to have Cloris on … and expected her to maybe make it through one or two weeks. But now it’s gone from people being amused — similar to the way it was with Jerry Springer — to being downright concerned,” said a staffer who has been with ”Dancing With the Stars” since the beginning.
This source said “Dancing” competitor Susan Lucci is “fit to be tied. She is working so hard and is outraged that others have been eliminated who are far better than Cloris. It’s all about her obnoxious schtick. … There are deep concerns that people are going to tune out, thinking this has become a big joke and not the serious though entertaining dance competition it’s supposed to be.
More Idol Headlines After the JUMP…
David Cook Crafts Heaviest “American Idol” Album Yet
“During the show, I enjoyed messing with people’s expectations,” says David Cook. “The show,” of course, is American Idol; in May, Cook was the winner of its seventh season. “I’m not trying to surprise people now: I’m putting out a rock record. I just want the songs to kick you in the teeth or make you want to cry — or do something drastic, like jump off a building. I want somebody to be exhausted when they’re done listening.”
Cook wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on the record, drawing on both recent collaborations with songwriting pros and tunes he wrote in his pre-Idol bartending days. (His old guitarist actually plays on the album.) A preview of eight tracks suggests that listeners can expect radio-ready anthems like the sweeping, U2-esque “Come Back to Me,” some aggro rockers like “Bar Bi Sol” and plenty of the soaring voice that the AI judges loved. “There’s a million different ways to write a song,” says Cook. “This is a brand-new game for me: I’m 25 years old, going on infancy.”
Cook searches for home here in spare time
It will be a busy weekend for country singer Kristy Lee Cook: In addition to singing the national anthem at Saturday’s 2 p.m. football game between Vanderbilt and Duke and delivering her debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night, Kristy Lee also will search for a new home.
She spent about six months house hunting online while she was on the American Idol tour. Her schedule hasn’t allowed for much of an in-person property search.

“It’s a pretty big move from Oregon to Nashville,” says the former American Idol finalist. “But hey, I figure, hey, if I move to Tennessee, Tennessee will be happy. Oregon will hate me, but, oh well. Hopefully I’ll buy two places.
Carrie Underwood: No Feud with Jessica Simpson
Talking about the life-like replica of herself, Underwood said: “Honestly, it looks so good, it’s almost kind of creepy looking at myself.”
When asked by reporters about Simpson, who is dating Underwood’s ex-boyfriend Tony Romo, the country star brushed off rumors of a feud.
“I met her once and she seemed really nice so I don’t have a feud with anybody,” said Underwood, who then commented on Simpson’s recent crossover to country music.
Underwood sees new wax figure of herself in NY
The wax figure depicts Underwood standing with her hands on her hips and wearing a short, sparkly pink dress, which she wore to the 2006 Country Music Association Awards show. Underwood received her first CMA female vocalist of the year award that year, and picked it up again in 2007.
Underwood donated a replica of the dress to Madame Tussauds. A team of wax artists worked on the Underwood likeness earlier this year after she modeled for it.
“It was mainly just a couple of people met us out on the road and like did a lot of measurements, a lot of picture taking,” she told The Oklahoman. “I had to stand still for a long time while they did their thing.”
Jason Castro: Pictures from Texas/OU Football Game
BeckyVee over at the Castro Cafe on Jason’s Website posted some amazing pictures!
The Sweet Life of Jane Knoll
Michael Johns, after being voted off too early on in this season of Idol, made an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show and that quickly struck a chord with Knoll. “He happened to show his Ellen underwear band, saying that not everyone wore them but he obviously did. It was funny and he was adorable. I just had this “cake moment†thing. I knew I wanted to put that into a cake.â€
And she did. Creating a large sheet cake with multiple layers and carving into his backside (“the jeans, of courseâ€) with his t-shirt pulled up a bit, so that the Ellen underwear band was visible. She put, Michael Johns Rocks with Soul on the t-shirt and his most popular fansite, Michael Johns Online. It was unfortunate though that Michael never had the chance to eat it but she posted photos of it on the fansite, immediately getting much attention from members and making Knoll a favourite and a friend amongst many on the site’s message boards.
Paris Bennett to appear with San Diego Men’s Chorus
The San Diego Men’s Chorus’ 24th annual holiday show will feature “American Idol†sensation Paris Bennett.
The show, a mixture of traditional and non-traditional holiday music, is entitled “Fa La La La…Fabulous!†It takes place on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m. at the newly restored 1930s Balboa Theatre in Downtown San Diego. SDMC became the first community music organization to call the Balboa home when it performed to a record crowd there in April.
Two voices, two bands, one night
Charlottesville fans have been waiting for a moment like this.
Country music idol Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson, the original “American Idol,’’ will be teaming up Thursday evening at the John Paul Jones Arena as part of their 2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour 2008.
Expect it to be a little bit country, a little bit rock ’n’ roll and a whole lot of excitement. The tour has been getting raves since it began, and the Grammy Award-winning singers and friends are combining both of their bands and performing not only their own hits, but other favorite songs as well.
‘American Idols’ show at Ramona Bowl canceled
The “American Idols” show at the Ramona Bowl tonight has been canceled, officials said.
Al Cordova, president of the Ramona Bowl Music Association, said lagging ticket sales are the reason for the show’s cancellation.
“Sales were down — they didn’t want to come out for a handful of people,” he said.
He said the decision was made earlier this week and that the contract is being renegotiated.
Former “American Idol” contestants Justin Guarini, Gina Glocksen, Mikalah Gordon, Rickey Smith and Jon Peter Lewis were scheduled to perform.
Happy Birthday Amanda Overmyer
Amanda Overmyer will undoubtedly go down in AI history as one of the most memorable Idols to grace the stage. Dubbed the Rock N’ Roll nurse by Randy Jackson, Amanda became known as the Harley-riding rocker that wasn’t about to conform to anyone’s standards–even the judge most live to impress, Simon Cowell. Her raspy voice and intense stage presence quickly earned her a lot of Janis Joplin comparisons.
Jonas Brothers on the Carousel
Like the rest of America, Hollywood divides over politics but comes together over human need — that’s the sentiment that has made philanthropist Barbara Davis’ “Carousel of Hope” the town’s biggest biannual charity event. Davis, regarded as the industry’s grande dame of fundraising, created the event 30 years ago after her own daughter’s diabetes diagnosis made her aware that there was a critical need for funding to combat the disease. Since then, the event (which has raised $75 million over the years) has become Hollywood’s must-attend occasion, bringing together celebrities and executives of every generation and political persuasion. Diabetes doesn’t check anybody’s party registration.
The event this Saturday — which also includes performances by Josh Groban, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Katharine McPhee — is sold out. Dozens of celebrities are expected to attend the gala, which will be held at the Beverly Hilton. Pauletta and Denzel Washington will be honored for their work on behalf of children’s issues.
CBS IN NOVEMBER: THE NETWORK’S LEAD CHARACTERS GET PERSONAL AND ROMANTIC….AND IT’S A MILESTONE MONTH FOR “CSI: MIAMI” AND “CSI: NY”
Wednesday, Nov. 19 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) CSI: NY-In the 100th episode, the team tackles their most unusual case when two victims, both named ‘Mac Taylor,’ turn up dead and 15 others with the same name including Det. Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise), must determine the killer’s motive before they strike again. Recording artists Chris Daughtry and Nelly, Julia Ormond (”First Knight”), NFL legend Marshall Faulk, Rumer Willis (”Army Wives”) and Scott Wolf (”Everwood”) guest star.
Examining Rehab 2 With Dr. Drew - Episode 1
What about Nikki?
She’s awesome. She’s sort of our Jessica this year. She is very sick, a severe addict and alcoholic. She’s got lots of heavy trauma that comes out in treatment. But God bless her, she really throws herself into the treatment process. She lights up the groups everyday. I heard some very inspiring things about her just today, in fact. She did this Us magazine interview and it was very evocative for her emotionally and in response to that, she’s gone to more meetings. That’s exactly what she should do. How great.
‘Rock of Ages’ salutes the songs of the late ’80s
Constantine Maroulis of “American Idol” fame gives a touching performance and sings powerfully as Drew, the young wannabe rock singer, who falls in love with Sherrie, the new girl in town. Kelli Barrett, charming as a Brooke Shields look-alike, belts out lyrics as the initially innocent Sherrie, a would-be actress fresh from Kansas.
Jordin Sparks
Since winning American Idol last May, Jordin Sparks has done very nicely indeed, selling more than a million copies of her debut album and conquering the charts with ‘No Air’, her brilliantly emotional duet with Chris Brown. Earlier this week she jetted over to the UK to promote ‘Tattoo’ - her nearly as emotional follow-up single - so we took the opportunity to ask Jordin a few questions.
‘Idol’ champ Sparks is ‘X Factor’ fan
American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has revealed that she is a fan of The X Factor.
Sparks watched an episode of the ITV1 singing contest while she was promoting her new single, ‘Tattoo’, in the UK last week and described the show as “awesome”.
“The coolest thing is that they let groups and soloists perform, because it’s just soloists on American Idol,” she told DS.
“It made me sad though, because I watched the results show and I just totally felt how they were feeling, not knowing whether they were staying or not.”
Robin Gibb Blasts Simon Cowell-Produced Talent Show
The Bee Gees’Robin Gibb has slammed the Simon Cowell-produced British talent show The X Factor, blasting the show’s creators for creating “puppet-like” artists. The show, which is similar to our own American Idol, features young hopefuls working their way up to a recording contract and national celebrity.
Gibb, who has been a working performer since his grade school days, spoke harshly of the hit program, telling London’s Daily Mail, “I don’t like how these people are chosen almost from nowhere. I don’t believe that many of them really yearned to get into a life of music, more that they want fame. The ones that win are told what to sing, how to dress, how to behave. They are over-styled ‘puppets.’They aren’t musicians, they are simply a product. It is a glorified advert.”
Ben Mulroney to wed fashion designer fiancee in Montreal next week
MONTREAL — Television personality Ben Mulroney is getting married next week.
Mulroney, the son of former prime minister Brian Mulroney, and his bride-to-be Jessica Brownstein will tie the knot in Montreal on Oct. 30.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Ben Mulroney confirmed Thursday that the wedding will take place at St. Patrick’s Basilica in Montreal and that the ceremony is a small, private family affair.
Mulroney, 32, proposed to Brownstein, 29, a Montreal fashion designer and stylist, during lunch last December at a popular Montreal deli.
The couple had been together for about six months when he popped the question.
Gabe Garcia: Making his Mark
NASHVILLE — With a pick in his lips and a guitar in his lap, Gabe Garcia leaned toward the table to type a few lines on his laptop computer.
As part of a new generation of artists and songwriters making its mark in the Music City, Garcia is bringing inspiration from a modern marvel to some of country music’s tried and true themes — such as drinking songs.
Garcia, the Lytle native who placed second on “Nashville Star†in August, was sitting down to a songwriting session with country star Rhett Akins and Bart Butler, a music publisher and songwriter from Hondo with such credits as Kevin Fowler’s “Loose, Loud & Crazy†and “Cheaper to Keep Her.â€
Since “Nashville Star†ended, Garcia has been chomping at the bit to begin recording his next album, sign with a record label and start touring after the NBC talent competition kick-started his career on a national scale.
But standing in the way were contractual obligations with the show and Warner Bros. Records in California, which was obliged to sign a deal with winner Melissa Lawson of Arlington and had a 90-day right of first refusal with Garcia and the third and fourth runners-up — Shawn Mayer of May City, Iowa, and Coffey Anderson of Bangs, in Central Texas.

RE Cloris…it’s all about entertainment isn’t it…this DWTS? I can’t bring myself to watch the videos, because when I did take sneak peaks I compared it to STYCD and found it super cheesy by comparison.
Boo hoo for you, DWTS. I’m sobbing. Really. Didn’t they learn from Idol’s problems with Sanjaya?
I found another radio interview from when Archie was in Pittsburgh yesterday. I don’t think anyone’s posted this one yet here at MJ’s. He was on STAR 100.7. The DJ says he looks taller in person. Haha! Archie mentions Michael John’s birthday party. Apparently Chickezie was there too, along with Jason, Brooke, David Cook, and himself. He confirms that he co-wrote three of the songs on his CD, two on the main album and one on the bonus track.
This sounds promising!
An all girl school winning the pennies contest for Archie is hysterical! Go Archie Go! (and wear a suit of armor)
Nice to see something about Amanda!
WNCI 97.9 is announcing that David will be singing the National Anthem at the Dublin Coffman High School football game on Friday. The game starts at 7:30pm; David should sing 7:15pm.
So along with the school visit in Cinci.. he’ll be at another school tonight.
I´m dying to see videos of Seton visit, that should be epic…good that Archie is a runner…
good grief, over 500 screaming girls, I hope Archie has earplugs
…..and some REALLY big body guards. Yikes! Seriously, though, good for him - sounds like a fun day (if he makes it out alive, that is) ;) Go Archie!
and good security! lol Which btw… in the last two days two different stations have made comments about his security being like the secret service… lol
Baltimore call in interview, its a bit awkward, and he sounds distracted lol

Review of Crush and Light On
http://media.www.ramcigar.com/media/storage/paper366/news/2008/10/24/Entertainment/New-Singles.Hits.And.Misses-3505095.shtml
David Archuleta - “Crush”
“American Idol”’s reigning runner-up’s new single is typical teen-pop, aimed squarely at the Disney Channel crowd. Sonically, I have no complaints; the snare drum beat is tasteful, and the electric guitar undertones do nothing to overpower Archuleta’s soaring vocals.
The lyrics are the kind of stuff middle school kids will find relatable: “Am I crazy or falling in love / is it really just another crush?” We’ve all been there: it is. But expect this song to be absolutely huge.
David Cook - “Light On”
Let’s not forget “Idol” champion David Cook, however. “Light On,” the lead-off single from his upcoming CD, is a great vehicle for Cook’s powerful vocals, but not so much for his “rocker” image. Despite the at-times shout-y vocals and electric guitar solo, “Light On” is clearly just a pop song wearing guy-liner and studded bracelets from Hot Topic.
Archuleta could just as easily and convincingly sing this song as well as he does his own, showing that while Cook deservedly won the title of American Idol, a successful career is all but assured.
Happy Birthday to Amanda Overmyer!
It’s Chile’s birthday? Awww, Happy Birthday!
Poor Cloris! Erica Kane has the blade drawn.
LOL — really? DWTS is supposed to be a ~serious~ dancing competition?
Hmmm…I’m thinking I may have to vote for the first time for DWTS. I think I’ll vote for Cloris.

Maks on the new direction of ‘DWTS’: ‘Not so fun’
Oct 24, 2008, 10:00 AM | by Annie Barrett
Categories: ‘Dancing With the Stars’, An EW Exclusive!, EW.com video, Fa-fa-fa-fa-fashion, Inappropriate Crushes, Television
In case you missed it earlier in the week, Dancing With the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who claims he has never submitted to a spray tan (pshaw!), stopped by EW.com to deep-dish about season 7. Two more Maks videos, on a fictional web channel I like to call Chmerkovision, are embedded after the jump.

Cloris is the best thing that ever happened to DWTS. Skanky Ho ftw! Susan Lucci is so boring and robotic. I honestly think Cloris dances better than her.
Well, thank goodness, they FINALLY got rid of the tour dates on DA’s MySpace page. They’ve replaced it with this promo schedule for next week. Busy boy!

Awesome interview with Michael Johns on Q100 radio in Atlanta, GA this morning.

just scroll down
OMG… they *updated* Archie’s myspace? Has the world turned upside-down? And with an actual schedule?!
Next thing you know they’ll be ripping down those old AI pictures on the side and replacing them with newer photos! How will we ever handle it??
omigosh! ripping down the AI pics?? no wai!! I dont think i could ever survive that!!!
Re: Cloris…I’ve bitched about the judging, scripted commentary, etc. But when all is said and done, they are competing for….a disco ball on a stick. Yeah, not all that concerned about Cloris tarnishing the sparkly glitter trophy.
Whew. I guess that means we’ll never have to suffer through another BeeGees
night on American Idol, huh?
Thanks, Robin!
^^ that see-through shirt Barry Gibb wore in S6… ::shudder::
That Rollingstone article on David Cook is just all kinds of awesome…and the comments seem to be written by uh “normal” people.
Squee!!! It’s almost SNL time and then the record drops just 17 days later. LO is being picked up my several stations (including a few rock stations!), album and LO doing well indeed on itunes and amazon…*sigh* all is well in my Cookieverse.
LOL! From your lips to Gods ears!
Oh, I wouldn’t necessarily call them “normal” Layla. They’re just as Cookiefied as you and me. :)
But at least they are commenting about his music (especially his pre-Idol output) and his talent as a vocalist and songwriter, as opposed to squeeing endlessly about the hottness, which as a Cook fan, is somewhat embarrassing to be identified with.
But yes, I am very much liking the writer’s talk about U2-esque anthems and comparisons to the Foo Fighters. He could so easily have taken the mocking or poser route in writing the piece, but he seems to be quite respectful.
Ewwwwwww…the memories!!!

Link to David A singing Angels at Seton HS Today - the screaming at the end is off the charts!!!! The CRUSHER does it again!
Breaking news is saying two people found dead at Jennifer Hudson’s Chicago home. The initial reports from one paper in Chicago says the woman is Jennifer’s mom - but that’s unconfirmed.
How sad for Jennifer if this is true…on the heels of her album starting so well and the new movie out.
I’ve found a few local tv stations with articles online and all are citing the same source as saying Jennifer’s mother is one of the two found dead in the home. This article is saying the other was her brother?
http://cbs2chicago.com/local/jennifer.hudson.murder.2.848234.html
This piece is saying that her mom and her brother, jason, were murdered. how horrible. My heart aches for her and her family.
That is just sad for Jennifer and her family
What a horrible thing…. I really feel for her…
I’m sure mj is writing a sad post as we speak…
I feel so terrible for her and the rest of her family. That’s absolutely horrible! And her 7-year-old nephew is missing? Oh gosh. I just can’t imagine what she must be going through right now.
Oh, no….
I just saw a report about Jennifer’s family on ABC news. So shocking and sad.
There is a separate thread for Jennifer. May God surround her with his love and support. I pray they find her 7 year-old nephew.
I danced at the clubs, bought the Disco music, absolutely adored the BeeGees; and loved their appearances on AI. Their Greatest Hits Album is in my Top 10 of the best ever. Music is the Soundtrack of Our Lives.
I felt Cloris should have gone home 3 weeks ago. She went over the line when she interfered with Samantha’s interview with the young dancers and forced that boy to say Cloris was his favorite dancer. It was totally uncalled for and DWTS must do something about this matter!
Jason has put up new pics on his myspace…
Dallas w/ Andrew Shepherd
I love the new pictures that Jason put on his MySpace. He has a cool new layout background on his MySpace too. He also sent two bulletins and promised a new video blog soon. It’s nice that he’s back from California and has internet access again. Now we just need some new songs.
