Booker T. and the MGs join Musicians Hall of Fame
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Guitarist Duane Eddy picked his rumbling “Peter Gunn” instrumental and Rolling Stone Keith Richards jammed with The Crickets on “Not Fade Away” as a host of musicians and producers were honored during the Musicians Hall of Fame induction ceremony Tuesday.
Formed in 1967, the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section played on hundreds of recordings by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Paul Simon, The Staple Singers and Bob Seger.
Kid Rock joined them for Seger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll” while former “American Idol” contestant Melinda Doolittle sang Franklin’s “R-E-S-P-E-C-T.”

Melinda Doolittle sings classic Aretha at Hall tonight
Melinda Doolittle still isn’t sure why she was asked to take the Schermerhorn Symphony Center stage tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 28) as part of the second annual Musicians Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
She’ll sing the Aretha Franklin classics “Respect” and “I Never Loved a Man” with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which is being inducted.
Despite her amazing voice, she says she can’t believe she will join Keith Richards, George Jones, Lee Ann Womack and others in honoring some of the nation’s best musicians.
More Artists Join White Spaces Fray
Opponents of the effort to allow unlicensed mobile devices in the white spaces between TV channels have pulled out the big Guns N’ Roses.
From The Bangles to Michael Bolton, Clay Aiken to Don Henley—and yes, Guns N’ Roses—a group of 100 musicians have put their name to a letter calling on the FCC to put its white spaces report out for public comment.
In their letter to the five commissioners, the recording artists say that the Nov. 4 vote would “dramatically impair” their ability to deliver a quality concert performance, for which wireless microphones are crucial
Among the other well-known names on the list: Peter Frampton, Bonnie Raitt, Michael Feinstein, the Eagles, Neil Diamond, Dixie Chicks, Julianne Hough, David Archuleta, Brooks & Dunne, and a host of others.

Carrie Underwood Becomes A Diet Mentor!
Five months ago “American Idol”’s favorite sushi neophyte Kellie Pickler was a red-blooded meat-lovin’ American gal. But now the “Red High Heel” lovin’ singer tells People magazine that she has joined her veggie-lovin’ country superstar friend Carrie Underwood in becoming a vegetarian!
When Pickler first told Underwood about her switch from steak to sprouts, the “American Idol” winner was a bit disbelieving, “I texted Carrie and was like, ‘You’re never going to believe this!’ And she was like, ‘No way! I’ll give you three days!’”
Carrie Underwood & Travis Stork Couple Up
Country crooner Carrie Underwood and former Bachelor Travis Stork are still going strong!
The couple cozied up at Parc restaurant in Philadelphia on Oct. 20. “They came in around 8 p.m.,†an insider tells Life & Style. Carrie, a vegetarian, began with the ravioli and the beet salad and then had an omelet for her entrée. “They ordered a bottle of Malbec and two bottles of Evian water,†says the insider. “There was definitely some hand-holding and petting. They even toasted with their wine.â€

Kellie Pickler Gets Help Eating Her Veggies from Carrie Underwood
Not long ago Kellie Pickler was a red-meat-eating country girl. Now, the country star tells PEOPLE, “I can’t do it!”
About five months ago, she joined pal Carrie Underwood, a long-time vegetarian, in giving up eating meat.
“Most country girls do like their meat!” she laughs. “I used to eat steak rare all the time. I’d just throw it on the grill for two seconds, flip it over and it was done and everyone was like, ‘That’s so gross – that thing is still moving!’ ”
So when she made her big decision, she got some moral support quickly. “I texted Carrie and was like, ‘You’re never going to believe this!’ And she was like, ‘No way! I’ll give you three days!’ ”
‘Dancing With the Stars’: Cloris Leachman’s time runs out
Well, this week, Cloris Leachman’s legion of fans couldn’t save her to perform another week on “Dancing With the Stars.” She was gracious, if characteristically Cloris, in defeat, and if you think that either Tom Bergeron or Samantha Harris managed to get a post-elimination interview out of her, then you haven’t been paying attention this season.
Tonight’s show led off with the longest summary segment I can remember. But my memory isn’t very good. The stars were all decked out in their hip-hop get-ups, which meant, to my delight, that the group hip-hop routine was the encore dance. Oh, but poor Susan Lucci -– nothing improved for her between last night and tonight. She may even have gotten worse. Her performance was reminiscent of what I look like in aerobics classes –- I’m always the person who’s moving the wrong direction and is noticeably off-tempo. And the choreographer did Susan no favors by placing her beside Lacey, who was flashy and excellent in true Fly Girl fashion.

The “Light On” app is available in the iTunes app store. You have to select music apps and it’s on the first page. There aren’t any banners or anything, but there was an announcement on DavidCookOfficial.
I wasn’t planning to buy it, so of course I bought it. Now that it’s fall, I have to walk home from the subway in the dark, so I’ll use the lighter to light my way, lol. I hope no one sees me.

Walmart website: “This Wal-Mart exclusive includes a bonus track “Breathe Tonight”.”
There’s something going on with the walmart version of his cd. Track 12 on the official listing is “A Daily AntheM” but that is missing on the Walmart tracklisting and 12 is listed as the bonus “Breathe Tonight”. So no one’s sure if ADA(M) is on there or not. For what it’s worth, it’s not on the “normal” version on walmart’s site either. That one just stops at 11 tracks.
Personally I think it’s a shame if it got chopped off the walmart version for whatever reason. Maybe walmart found it objectionable somehow and asked it be removed for their stores, they’ve asked other artists to do that and the labels give in cause walmart is such a big seller of …everything, and you don’t wanna lose those sales. Which is another reason for me to say “walmart sucks!” But of course I’m just speculating.
DA’s pre-order album w/bonus track is sitting at #3 on Wal-Mart’s list.
Edit - link isn’t working for some reason
Here’s the official 19/RCA press release for the iTunes app
Ken Barnes randomly muses on David Cook over at Idol Chatter.
Ken Barnes never met a press release that he didn’t like. Unless he didn’t get one, like when the Melinda Doolittle album news was released. Then, he refused to believe that Melinda had an album out until he was informed personally, even though the news was in a few different places, including here. He even dubbed the info at Tennessean.com “dubious”. LOL.
Here are a couple of headlines I missed this morning in my mad dash to get out of here:
New York critics weigh L.A.-spawned ’80s rock musical
The New York Times liked the show’s energy and look — “The flash-and-trash ambiance is on the mark … and Kristin Hanggi’s direction never lags” — but sniffed at “the paper-thin story, played for laughs” and complained that “like much of the music that inspires it, ‘Rock of Ages’ too often lacks a human pulse.”
The New York Post was not impressed: “a perfect storm of cheesiness,” “relentlessly silly,” “forget the plot.” Still, it concluded, “based on the rapturous response that greeted nearly every number … ‘Rock of Ages’ may do for ’80s rock what ‘Mamma Mia!’ did for ABBA.”
But some critics apparently had a ball at the headbangers’ musical: “a crowd pleaser that never takes itself seriously (nor should it). It gets the ’80s power-ballad scene right,” said the Daily News. Meanwhile, the Newark Star-Ledger recommended “Rock of Ages” as “tons of retro fun for anybody loving those bygone times of big hair and even bigger power chords.”

My Latest Turn-It-Up Song? Bucky Covington’s.
All I have to hear is a little piano and then “we were 18, it was prom night†and my inner voice screams, “Ohmygodilovethissong.†And then I turn the volume from soft to a full-on blare in about two seconds. That’s because “I’ll Walk,†Bucky Covington’s newest single, is my newest turn-it-up song.

Julianne Hough’s tough cookie mentality isn’t unusual for dancers
Despite the pain, which her rep says has been “coming and going since last week,” the 20-year-old only missed one rehearsal for the show.
So is this tough-as-nails ‘tude specific to Hough? Not according to Mignon Furman, director of New York’s American Academy of Ballet, who says such commitment is par for the course.
“The show must go,” she said. “Dancers are very serious about that.”
In fact, Furman added, she’s even seen dancers “throw up on the side of the stage and go back on” during performances.
NY Daily News
I don’t think I saw this posted here. David was on the cover of Oklahoma magazine. I apologize in advance if it’s already been posted, but it was a nice article:

How is it cheese? Give us your evaluation. I am thinking about getting it.
Here is the blurb from the App store for the Light On app:
“Fans know there’s a moment in every rock show where they become part of the spectacle. It starts with one, then the whole room is filled with glowing lighters shining back at the band. Now you can light up any venue with David Cook’s “Light On” Lighter. Turn up the volume because when you spark up this lighter it plays David Cook’s hit single “Light On” in its entirety. Don’t worry, if you’re at a live show the song can be paused and the flame will burn as long as you have battery power.”
I think that last sentence answered someone’s post a few days ago about why would you want the song playing while you were at a concert. You can shut the song off.
Someone already gave it 5 stars!
I have convinced myself to buy it when I get home. (That didn’t take long!)
Too funny at your post above cheese! Now the simple $1.99 app will only cost you about $300 more!
That press release has all kinds of interesting info:
So it’s a bit more than just a lighter song application, which makes a lot of sense to me. I take back what I said about it being silly or whatever. More artists, it seems, are offering apps that allow fans to keep up with their latest news, etc., and combining the lighter/song app with something akin to the facebook app sounds pretty smart and innovative. I don’t have an iTouch/iPhone, but please, those have purchased this app and have tested it out (LOL, sorry about your predicament, cheese, but it’s pretty funny), please report back on the other functionalities, cuz I’m really curious.
Also great about the PR? DC’s quote is LOLz: “I am really stoked about this application. I think it gives a different dynamic to the single and it is much safer than practicing pyromania. Not to mention, you won’t burn your thumb!”
I love that DC seems to be poking light fun at this whole thing a little without being disrespectful at all– he recognizes the necessary commercial aspect of the music business, doesn’t take himself too seriously, and is never too-cool for school.
Dammit! My husband has an iPod Touch that he has not been using. (I know!) I may have to snag it from him and give him my cute little nano in exchange just so I can download this silly little thing.
Can’t wait to get my copy of the David Foster CD/DVD. Kat’s performance with Bocelli is incredible and Somewhere is one of my favorite songs ever! I can’t wait to finally hear Kat’s version!!

Not a headline, but Elliott makes the last paragraph of a headline about Andrea Bocelli.

Elliott Yamin and AB sing at peace concert in Israel
Tel Aviv, Israel was the next stop on Bocelli’s worldwide trek on October 27th for “Believe - A Peace Concert,” which celebrated a decade of peace-building and the 10th anniversary of The Peres Center for Peace. Andrea performed a stirring ballad co-written by the distinguished President Peres and international singer Liel, entitled “Ray of Hope.” Additional artists who shared the stage for this memorable event were Academy Award-winner and Argentine musician Gustavo Santalaolla, American Idol favorite Elliot Yamin, celebrated saxophonist Dave Koz and songwriting superstar Diane Warren among others.
