Paula Abdul on joining ‘SYTYCD’: ‘It is an intriguing offer’
Paula Abdul told EW.com exclusively that while ‘it is an intriguing offer,’ she has yet to grant Nigel Lythgoe’s request that she join the judging panel of So You Think You Can Dance. During Monday’s telecast of the dance show, Lythgoe officially offered the former American Idol judge a guest spot on the panel. ‘I haven’t made any decisions about what I want to do next,’ Abdul said while walking the red carpet of last night’s This Is It premiere in Los Angeles. ‘I might need a break from judging for awhile. But you never know. Dance was my first passion.’ ‘“ With reporting from Carrie B
Mia Michaels: Why I Left So You Think You Can Dance
Why did you decide to move on from So You Think You Can Dance?
It’s been an amazing five-year journey and I am in a place where I have all these great opportunities that have been presented to me and I am ready to take on all these challenges. So when I was working on the show, I wasn’t able to really focus on anything else. Now I’m really focusing on these other projects that I can’t pass up. I think that’s pretty much the main reason why I left the show.
From Stockton to the USO, Edman is go-to guy
John Edman is what Dirk Hamilton and many other musicians call their “go-to” guy.
Edman, a veteran Stockton sound technician and recording studio engineer and producer, has made musicians from smooth-jazz sax players to hard-rock bands such as Filter hear just what they – and their audiences – want to hear.
He just returned from spending two weeks in Japan with Elliott Yamin, a Los Angeles-based R&B singer. He’s assuming a management role with Yamin and Los Angeles’ 16 Frames (“intelligent pop in the Matchbox 20 vein”), whose music has been heard on MTV’s “The Hills” series.

Adam Lambert time travels to early 1980s for ‘For Your Entertainment’ album cover
Last week brought the video for Adam Lambert’s “Time for Miracles,” which features the “American Idol” runner-up crooning in the midst of an apocalypse (the song is on the sound track for upcoming end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it flick “2012″).
This week, we can see where Lambert landed after the mayhem and destruction – in his own distant and peculiar galaxy, circa 1983.
Adam Lambert vs Rihanna: Battle of the bizarro album covers!
rihanna-lambert_lAdam Lambert’s already infamous new album cover ‘†an unholy amalgam of Europe’s AquaNet-rock classic The Final Countdown, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Starlight Express, and a serious Glamour Shots sesh at the Sherman Oaks Galleria ‘†has some fierce competition, kids.
Rihanna’s November 23 release Rated R, top left, is giving ole Glammy-bear a run for his face-clutching money. In fact, it looks like the two just staggered away from the world’s sexiest catfight (Rihanna: ‘Oh sweet disturbia, my eye!’ Glambert: ‘Bish, please. If you hadn’t voted for Kris, I wouldn’t be bleeding magenta glitter from the ear right now.’ ) and into Patrick Nagel’s portrait studio.

Kris Allen album snippets hit the Web early: Surprise!
Kris Allen’s self-titled debut CD won’t go on sale until Nov. 17, but you can get an early preview right now at Amazon.com’s German branch. As of today, the online retailer is streaming roughly 30-second snippets of every song from the American Idol winner’s album.
This isn’t the first time a foreign Amazon.com site has allowed consumers to hear an album long before its release date. Similar snippets were recently posted for Bob Dylan’s Christmas in the Heart and the New Moon soundtrack.
11 Most Insane “American Idol” Album Covers Of All Time, Starring Jim Cantiello!

Our Life Would Suck Without Kelly Clarkson
She covered The Black Keys, The White Stripes, The Kings Of Leon, Alanis Morrisette, and Patsy Cline. She called the industry types at her record label “a bunch of assholes.” When her voice cracked she used it as proof she didn’t lip sync her act. Through 90 minutes at Rosemont Theatre Kelly Carkson reminded us why we love her; of all the pop divas she truly is the one we could sit down and have a beer with. And sing drunken karaoke with.

Review | `The Color Purple’ worth the wait — and you may have to
She is given in marriage to Mister (Rufus Bonds Jr.), a widower with four unruly children, a man who beats her, sexually uses her and openly disdains her as “ugly.” For decades, she is cut off from any contact with her beloved younger sister Nettie (the radiant ex-American Idol finalist, La Toya London, who really can act). And though Celie eventually does find love, that lover proves as unreliable as she is intoxicating.
‘Idol’ alum Jason Castro to perform at Pasco mall tonight
We catch up with the crooner before he hit the road.
Q: When does the album drop and what can listeners expect?
A: The album comes out early next year. The single “Lets Just Fall in Love Again is already out. It’s a playful song; and the perfect song to kick off the album; I wanted it to be about my personality. It’s about getting back to the magic’ ¦let’s enjoy what we have. I’ve been calling it a modern singer song writer album.
Q: You have a record deal, you’re on tour. How are you feeling?
A: I couldn’t be happier, this is my first record and if I could make one record then this is it. I am so happy with how the sound came out.

Extra points
The Pistons’ 96-74 victory over Memphis on Wednesday night didn’t contain much drama, unless you include the wait for the game to begin. Pregame entertainment featured hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia, dance troupe JabbaWockeez and American Idol finalist Lil Rounds, and pushed back the tip 15 minutes or so.
Big names lend a hand on Daughtry’s sophomore project
After spending the last few years hammering away to fans and the press that there’s a full band behind his namesake group, ‘American Idol’ season 5 veteran and singer-guitarist Chris Daughtry admittedly no longer has that chip on his shoulder.
‘I’ve just kind of stopped,’ laughed Daughtry, calling from Los Angeles. ‘People are either going to know it’s a band or not. And even the people who do know it’s a band still sometimes refer to it as Chris Daughtry coming to play tonight. It’s like, whatever. They already have their mindset with a specific name, and the fans know who we are. I think Daughtry suits us in the same vein as Bon Jovi suits them. For me it was just obvious to go with my last name for name recognition. Every job I ever had everybody called me by my last name, it’s what spawned the idea.’
Christian musician Michael W. Smith brings ‘New Hallelujah Tour’ to B-N
“It is weird, yeah, a little surreal,” he reflects just hours away from the opening night of his “New Hallelujah World Tour,” which will work its way cross-country for a Nov. 6 stopover at Bloomington’s U.S. Cellular Coliseum. “I don’t picture myself that way.”
But the three artists joining him on the tour are all relative young-’uns: singer Matt Maher, 34; “American Idol” alum Phil Stacey, 31; and singer Meredith Andrews, in her 20s.
And they’ve all been pumping him for advice and guidance on how to handle their careers.
And Smith has accepted his role as the tour’s designated Yoda.

Looked at agains at this from Kidd quote
How is poppier Broadwayesque? To me those are not the same things, and he said he had heard they were on there, not that he heard them and that he thought they were Broadwayesque/poppy. Well that reassures me a bit. We’ll see of course, but maybe it won’t be dire.
I mean I like Broadway, but Adam needs not to do that on his first album.
Yes, thank you, cookbunny. It is a Memphis station having a jingle ball in Tunica, which can be anywhere from 30 to 50 or so miles from Memphis depending on where you are in Memphis.
It’s hard to know what they mean by this, really. It could be similar to Lyndsey Parker’s comment about “Rocky Horror” meets Robbie Williams on “For Your Entertainment.” But to me, the Muse song “Soaked” sounds dramatic and orchestral too, so who knows. Plus, I think given his history and the lazy “theatrical” commentary we’ve heard ad nauseam, we’d hear that type of opinion no matter what Adam does.
P.S. I’m not one of those Cook fans who believes Rob Cavallo sucks, but then, I’m also a big fan of Green Day, whose Cavallo produced album won a Grammy. Come to think of it though, they did recently make that album a musical. Ummm. Heh.
I’m always a bit leary about anything a DJ has to say about anybody. Personally I don’t give them much cred in talking about music for anyone. Not just Kris or Adam. Personally, on the food chain radio DJs rank just above horny toads and way below possom.
I actually like the Rhianna cover. VERY Grace Jones. I feel like I know what she’s going for.
Now I have that Strangé scene in Boomerang in my head…ETA: “This is the ESSENCE of Sex!” lol

#OK I was just blasting the sound snippets of Kris Allen’s album in my cubicle and someone told me to turn it down. Guess I got carried away.

Hope this isn’t a repeat but (Kidd Kraddick )KISS 106.1 FM in Dallas (homebase) was the DJ who had the Lady Gaga interview this week. I thought he seemed very interested in the Adam album/music during the interview and his show is gynormous with regard to the number of people it reaches.
From the ones I’ve met? With one exception (the awesome Maria Todd, now doing morning radio on SF’s 99.7FM) I would totally agree.
Now here is a STRETCH to get some web hits….

LMAO. At the very end they add (paraphrasing) that Lambert may have looked like he had botox but it was really just photoshopped. OMG.
Allison is in the top 100 on Amazon at #81
Kris is up to # 39
Adam is # 3
All three are on the movers and shakers list
fyi so is Orianthi the female guitarist from TII
OMG … how random.

Here is a link to CA labor laws in regards to minors. Pay attention to minors between the ages of 15 and 18, particularly regarding entertainment. They are really not that restrictive.
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=lab&group=01001-02000&file=1390-1399
Isn’t Allison primarily home-schooled and close to being finished? That allows for even more leeway.
I don’t know what the deal is with her single and album. It seems to be on track, just having fits and starts. I just think there is some rethinking and retooling going on. She is very young and there is should be no rush to push her out the door. Timing is everything.
Keep in mind she wasn’t the winner or 2nd place. It was awesome and pretty unprecedented that she got signed and into the recording studio so quickly.
I have no worries for Allison, even if I’m not overly fond of that first song.
When did spelling things wrong become so cool? It takes as many letters to type “record” as it does “rekkid” (and the word completion program will probably help you out when you spell the word corectly).
I’m a terrible speller, but I’ve got to assume this dude knows how to spell “record” since he produces the darn things and it’s a pretty simple word.
Sorry, pet peeve. I can’t imagine how much it bugs people who can spell well.
Now, just wait, we’ll find out that the there is a track on the album called “Rekkid” and I’ll feel like an idiot.
I know what you mean. “Kewl” really bugs me, too.
LOL Kirsten. I’m an ok speller, and I’m ok with it. But I’m easy.
Seriously, I think it’s an attempt at producing sounds with typed words. Phonetic spelling, if you will. But, I have to say, I know very few people who pronounce record that way.
Nekkid, yes. Rekkid, no, not really. Hee…
Then again, it may be easier to text.
Why do you assume that he meant “record”? Maybe he meant “wrecked”… although that in turn opens a grammatical rat’s nest — “Cannot wait for Adam’s wrecked to drop”…
… or when you spell the word “correctly”…
I just want tweets. Twitter ain’t, oops, isn’t the MLA Guide. The more love Adam gets, the better, IMO. I think it’s about time for some leakage. Damn, Adam’s team at RCA is *good*!!!!
Reminds me of Prince in Under the Cherry Moon ‘wrecka stow’
LOL, I agree with the incorrect spelling pet peeve. It’s one thing to use acronyms, but if you’re going to type out the word, spell it correctly! My kids are not great spellers – internet spelling does not help!
ETA: I checked my spelling on the above about 5 times before hitting “submit”.
They are teasing now
#YO_RANDYJACKSON @adamlambert yo the music is tight,,, YOU ARE BLAZIN! about 3 hours ago from web
When do we get it !!!!!!!
“How is poppier Broadwayesque? To me those are not the same things, and he said he had heard they were on there, not that he heard them and that he thought they were Broadwayesque/poppy. Well that reassures me a bit. We’ll see of course, but maybe it won’t be dire.”
I was in a hurry when I wrote that sentence you pulled that from, sorry! What I meant was…he said he heard several songs and Adam seems to be channeling what Freddie Mercury would be doing now. Then he said in he preferred when Adam rocks out opposed to more poppy songs. And in a seperate comment he said something either earlier or later in the conversation about hearing that there were some “broadwayesque” type songs on the record also. I think he used the number 3 in regards to that comment.
I hope that’s clearer.
Also, I agree with the general idea that dj’s are often rude and obnoxious and don’t do it for the music anymore. I would argue though that Kidd is a little different than most of those types – he’s more like a mini Ryan Seacrest.
Adam is up to #2 on Amazon.
I can’t go on my nieces and nephew’s my space pages because they spell everything in that crazy ’slang’ spelling whatever it is and it can drive me bonkers trying to figure out what they are saying. I guess it’s kewl … LOL
On the subject of Allison’s “rollout” etc.:
No, she isn’t homeschooled, although her situation is similar to that — she’s tutored under the umbrella of a California public school independent study program. Not sure when she expects to finish, but I think she was ahead of her age-mates over the summer, which would suggest that she’ll be done sometime before next spring.
As I said the other day when this labor law thing came up, I don’t think that’s an issue at all. As one example, the Jonas Brothers have been wildly busy for years, with one of them still a minor and at least two of them having been minors during their reign of fame. So I think it can be managed just fine.
About her single release, Amazon still shows her release date as November 3. It’s been that way for, I think, a couple of weeks now.
So far we know she has the one jingle ball near Memphis on December 4, and that’s it for promo, but I’d imagine there will be more appearances scheduled pretty soon, given that they’re in rehearsals. I don’t know if Jive is being disorganized with her or not, but I have no problem believing that they’re simply taking a slow-burn approach with her and not focusing on getting good opening sales. I certainly haven’t expected good opening sales — in fact, I expect just the opposite. Well, I expected her to get booted off the show sooner than she did, and I expected her to get passed over for a record contract, so I’ve got a pretty good track record with better-than-expected results for her! Anyway, while I’m an off-the-deep-end Allison fan and want her to do very well, I’m not going to worry at this point. My natural inclination is to assume that she’s going to start very slowly and build, and that’d be fine with me. My only hope is that she builds enough to turn a profit and get a second album.
Adam debuts single tom morn
Gonn be on Seacrest tommorow morning to debut single “For Your Entertainment” on the radio!
I stand somewhat corrected on the California Child Labor Laws but I don’t want to see Allison miss out on the chance for her to walk with her classmates. She has said that is pretty important to her.
Also, people on this blog do spell very well and are pretty adept at putting sentences together. But I think Twitter and texting is a whole different world…and why should peeps have to worry about being grammatically correct while social networking.
Personally, and I am sure I am odd person out, I think rad spelling makes a word STANDOUT and helps enforce the nuance a writer is trying to make. Same with punctuation (!!!!) It isn’t like these people aren’t educated. I think they are having fun and I hope that is what twitter is all about. ’cause I don’t think ya can say much in so few characters.
I’ve was away from the computer for a while. Thanks so much for the congratulations!
