Saw the idol Christmas show last night – cheezy and quite entertaining! A few bum notes by David & Diana – Kim & Chikezie were spot on. Chikezie & David Hernandez kicked ass on a duet of Little Drummer Boy, and Chikezie mentioned after the intermission, that he had been on the phone with his peeps and Universal is going to sign him.

This is going to be super random... FOX ordere 13 episodes of Glee, which might fill the post-American Idol slot. It's an hour-long musical comedy, produced by Ryan Murphy(Nip/Tuck), a potential partner for Idol(what does that mean...). I love RM and am still bitter his Pretty/Handsome wasn't picked up by FX, which was co-produced by Brad Pitt! Hopefully this one will last...

So it’s the end of the year, which means infinite best-of lists from under-qualified scribes around the globe. In other words, a perfect way for the “Primetime in No Time” team to waste time! But what should we count down? We thought about best shows, but that’s like naming your favorite kids. (The oldest one, by the way.) We recounted the most overused words and phrases on “PiNT” (“literally,” “apparently,” “in the end,” “ouch,” “David Archuleta,” etc.), but no one really cares about that. And then it hit us. If there is one thing we are actually kinda, sorta experts on, it’s reality TV. I mean, can anyone really say they have watched as much reality TV as we have?

Yay! Thanks for the Josiah update. I was starting to wonder about his release date. I hope Warner Bros. promotes it! I hope he doesn’t put all of the EP songs on the album, but I’m guessing that “Theysay” will probably be on there.

How does a list of the “best” songs include anything by Pussycat Dolls or Kid Rock? I’m guessing that “best” means popular in this context?

Can’t wait for Josiah’s album. I will definitely be buying it. I really liked his EP. I hope the 4 songs that were on his EP, won’t all be on his album again.

I am really surprised that Jordin’s “No Air” wasn’t higher up on that AOL list. I mean, it was a HUGE hit. Didn’t it reach #2 on the radio? and sell over a million copies? And Jesse McCartney’s single “Leavin” reached #1 on the radio and was also a huge hit. I wonder what their criteria was?

He’s trying so hard to be nice, but this is sooo painfully awkward and uncomfortable.

And although it’s great that she’s hanging out in the top 10 on Itunes with her dance track, “Just Dance,” why on Earth should we care about Lady Gaga? Anyone, anyone?

I still don’t know how to feel about what that British girl did to Hallelujah. I mean… Simon… do you even understand what the song is about? At least Jason appeared to understand the spiritual/musical aspect of it, he just ignored the sex. That girl is just seeing a chance to belt onstage. A gospel choir with palms outstretched? REALLY? Ugh.

Wow, even as others try to deride idol and all of it’s successes, they keep chugging along. Kudos to David and Jordin. I suspect that they will have other songs on that list in the years to come. Maybe even a duet?

Paula stays put. It’s not just her histrionics that I would miss though. I think her connection to the music, that even though she doesn’t always articulate it well, is what makes her a valuable asset to this show. I tease my kids, that Paula and I share a heart because it seems the same songs that reduce her to tears do it for me too. I think she just needs to bring more of the den mother/cheerleader, than tabloid fodder Paula this year.

The mirror article on Halelujah added nothing to our discussion here the other day, that is until I read this part:

I don’t think Paula’s going anywhere. She’s a trainwreck that draws media attention and eyeballs to news/web pages. Idol producers seem to want and appreciate a certain buzz factor that she brings. Paula keeps AI in the headlines even on hiatus. It is hard for me to imagine that a machine as ruthless and Draconian as AI couldn’t keep Paula silent if they really wanted her to. They could write something into Paula’s contract, similar to what is written on the contestant’s contracts. Paula’s an employee of AI, not a free agent, so I’m sure her agent and AI have negotiated her salary and contract to the letter. I see Paula and Randy as cheesy/gong show part of AI the TV show – and Simon and Kara are the more legitimate voices, but are just as cartoony in that cheesy way. Makes for a fun show. Look, even Reuters featured Paula in headline over the AI8 changes.
