One more time for Troy Brown
Former American Idol contestant Ayla Brown sang the National Anthem, wearing a No. 80 Troy Brown jersey. BASSEY: ‘THERE’S NO REAL TALENT ON TV TALENT SHOWS’
Singing legend DAME SHIRLEY BASSEY has slammed reality TV talent shows for their failure to nurture any “real” talent.
The 70-year-old star is adamant those who are the most gifted on shows like American Idol and British show The X Factor are voted off well before the series’ finals - and believes many young people want to become famous for nothing in particular…..

Ruben Studdard dropped by J Records
…….Ruben’s co-manager Jonathan Effinger said Ruben is still with 19 Entertainment, that they are now shopping for another label for him. Ruben has already started recording cuts for his fourth album, having just gotten back from working with producers in Copenhagen, Denmark.
“19 decided to find another record label to put his vision out,” Effinger said. “19 has a pretty good idea what they want to do and want to be given the flexibility to do it. Just looking at the album sales, I don’t think they reflect Ruben’s ability or fan base.”…….

Can NBC Do for ‘Quarterlife’ What YouTube Could Not?
….Despite the hurdles, other companies are exploring Web-to-television arrangements. FremantleMedia, the production company behind “The Price Is Right” and the British version of “American Idol,” is pitching a television series based on the “Atomic Wedgie” brand of humorous and raunchy Internet video clips. The clips, which were originally designed for mobile devices, were introduced three months ago on MySpace and have been viewed more than three million times since. They also appear on a Web site, atomicwedgietv.com.
FremantleMedia said that it intends to pitch the series to six broadcast and cable networks by the end of the year.
“On the Web, you can get an immediate response,” said Maureen Fitzpatrick, the vice president of mobile development for FremantleMedia. “You can see if the numbers are there and you can see if a series has legs.”
