It was billed as a one-night encore to a reality-based TV talent search that discovers singing stars expected to further showcase their talents in uncharted territory. As a bonus, the young à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Idolsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ shared the stage with an à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ judge who just celebrated his 20th year in show business.
The show featured Pinoy pop star Ogie Alcasid with à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Season 7 finalist Ramiele Malubay, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Pinoy Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ grand champion Gretchen Espina and five other finalists. In the end, people could not help but remark that such an à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Idolsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ night could have achieved moreà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ maybe even end up as something that, as Simon Cowell might say, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“would surprise usà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ or à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“leave us mesmerized.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Family-oriented concert on New Year’s Eve
David Archuleta, Rockapella, Osmonds 2nd Generation, Noteworthy and V-Factory will perform New Year’s Eve at the David O. McKay Events Center in Orem, Utah.
In addition, Ashley Tisdale will be on hand to introduce the talent during this family-oriented concert which starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Crown Marketing’s Keith Kuder, who organized the show, said Archuleta was a last-minute addition.

Bass looks past hurtful words
Lance Bass gives me a shocker of a quote in today’s Neon section: “Every other day, I get called a ‘fag,’ and get threatened to (get) beat up.”
That’s a despicable state of homophobia directed at openly gay Bass. He chats more about being gay in Hollywood in today’s Neon section.
But the ‘N Syncer mostly has happy work on his mind, because he’s on tour for the first time in about six years. He performs Monday in the “Dancing with the Stars” tour at the Orleans Arena.
Training for “Dancing with the Stars” on TV was comparable to his preparation, a few years ago, to fly to space via the Russians, he says.
“Cosmonaut training was a little harder … a lot more things to learn.”
Simon Cowell: Christmas in Barbados
Skipping out on the whole notion of having a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“white Christmas,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Simon Cowell was spotted frolicking around the beach in Barbados yesterday (December 25).
The snide à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“American Idolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ judge looked to be having a marvelous time in paradise, hanging out with British billionaire Philip Green as well as spending some time on a wave runner.
I think I agree with the 10 worst Idol performances but think 8 Days a Week by KLC could have gone a little higher than 4. It wasn’t just the performance but that she destroyed a Beatles song. :wacko_tb:

David Cook is #5 in the Top 5 Favorite Reality Competition Show Winners Of 2008. And David Archuleta gets an honorable mention.
For me, David Cook winning American Idol almost made up for Chris Daughtryà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s early departure in his season. The David vs. David battle that closed out the season made this yearà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Idol stand out among some of the other seasons. And for the first time since the seriesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ debut, the rocker actually made it to the end and thanks to Cookà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s amazing vocals, not to mention good looks and great presence on camera, America came through and voted him the winner.
Honorable Mention: David Archuleta has to get credit too. The kid really held his own, proving that even if youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re a gawky teenager, you can still get up on stage and blow away more seasoned performers if youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve got a good voice and that dopey-shy à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’adorable thing going on.
David Archuleta is #20 in MuchMusic’s “20 Sexiest of 2008 Stars ‘08″ countdown. As one would expect, in the video David begs to differ, saying that he sees himself as geeky. Haha!

There were other performances of much worse caliber than Josh’s ‘Jive Talkin’. He does not belong on that list. I would hope that someone like Kevin Covais could never make the Top 12 again. Whew, Camille got tortured.
