They did get the ELVIS PRESLEY Tribute and for the most part did a nice job.

It has been mentioned that the Top 12 will be doing the Beatles early catalog, right? Would 1968 be the cut off for the songs?

The band selected 3 songs, without practicing them, just based on what they thought would work for them.
The producers would then select one song from the submitted list, without hearing the band play any of the songs.
Then the band would start rehearsing the selected song.

The only plus out of this is, that they’ll probably only pick the “hits” and may leave some more obscure Beatles songs alone, hopefully. Thankfully there are only 12 contestants, so only 12 songs can be tarnished! HOORAY!

I can’t make up my mind on my picks either. I left them as I chose this morning, but I can think of 100 reasons to change them. And dial idol is NOT helpful AT ALL. Hey look, ANYONE can go home this week! Not so predictive this year. I have to say on the girls side I am not so surprised. No one gave me much reason to pick up my phone last night…..

All the girls including Carly had some pitch problems in parts of their songs at the very least…Carly in her high range, Brooke in some low but they were still the best with Ramiele next. As much as I like Alexandria she has bad pitch problems. Really pro singers sound good even in the soft areas, others should really work on those areas and not just the glory notes as thats where being off really shows. I like Brooke a lot and like Jason Castro a lot. and think David Cook is a way better singer than Aussie guy. David H. good but not as good as D.Cook. blah blah blah

Jason himself “signed up” his child, making his life as a courageous single dad part of his backstory. If Jason wanted to protect his kid, he could have left him out of his story.

There has been curiosity about the whereabouts of the mother of Jason’s child. These posts may answer the question. And, if the National Enquirer gets the tips they are obviously looking for, expect a story in their pages.

Yes, I’m becoming more miserable each day….to take a great premis as AI ‘was’ and to twist and turn the singers to see who is the most pliable and moldable into whatever pop crap singer TPTB want to foist onto the music buying public has hardened me.

Every so often we see an Elliot, Taylor, Chris D. and now Amanda and to see TPTB try to sabatoge them into singing themed drivel sickens me.

As a musician and music lover, I hope that at some point they can seperate the kids from the ‘real artists’ and make two shows….one for tweeners entering puberty and one for real singers.

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree. I’m not interested in the age of his son’s mother at the time of his son’s birth. What little we have seen of Jason has not included any coverage of his son’s mother. This would seem to indicate that she is not part of Jason’s attempt to gain fame and I feel uncomfortable dragging somebody into the spotlight like this. One need only look at Jason’s son to realize that Jason had a child when he was fairly young. Mistakes happen and he appears to have taken responsibility. Good for him. Kids in highschool date and more. It’s not like he’s some 40 year old guy dating a teenager.
