The Recording Academy To Host GRAMMY Social Media Rock Stars Summit

In celebration of its continuing commitment to music and social and new media platforms, The Recording Academy will once again recognize the pioneers and influencers in this space by bringing them together for its GRAMMY Social Media Rock Stars Summit. The summit will be held Friday, Feb. 11 at the Conga Room at L.A. Live and will be streamed live from 2–3:30 p.m. PT/5–6:30 p.m. ET on GRAMMY.com and on YouTube, kicking off three days of GRAMMY Live — a real-time, innovative three-day online broadcast of the VIP events leading up to Music’s Biggest Night.

The forward-thinking panel will feature some of the world’s social and new media trailblazers, including GRAMMY winner Chamillionaire, who is RIAA-certified as the biggest-selling ringtone solo artist; current GRAMMY nominee Adam Lambert; Facebook Director of Platform Product Marketing Ethan Beard; Foursquare Co-Founder Naveen Selvadurai; and Pandora founder & Chief Strategy Officer Tim Westergren. BREAKING: AOL Buys The Huffington Post For $315M; Deal Signed At Super Bowl XLV; What Happens To AOL’s Apolitical Image?

AOL will pay $300 million of the pricetag in cash, and the rest in stock. Buying the 5-year-old primarily liberal political news aggregator will be AOL’s biggest acquisition since it split from Time Warner in 2009. Below is a press release (see below) just issued from AOL and The Huffington Post, which has been for sale for some time now since it was launched on May 9, 2005. Over the years HuffPo has taken in various investors so founders Arianna Huffington and her partner, former Time Warner exec Ken Lehrer, don’t get to just pocket the windfall. Arianna will stay on according to the announcement as president and editor-in-chief of the newly formed The Huffington Post Media Group which will integrate all Huffington Post and AOL content.

Glee Valentine’s Episode Preview: Your Burning Questions Answered!

The gist: It turns out that Puck’s “seven minutes in heaven” with new Gleek Lauren left at least one of them wanting more. That tees up a very entertaining courtship process as well as one of the most physical, one-sided catfights you may ever see. Elsewhere, Finn’s success on the gridiron has inflated his ego to the point that he sees it as his duty to man a kissing booth. That brings on developments in both his past relationships and evokes Melissa Sue Anderson’s Brady Bunch appearance (for the other old-timers out there).

As I “live-tweeted” my advanced viewing of this episode, I was hit with a plethora of questions. To help you prep for seeing “Silly Love Songs” yourself, here are some answers-slash-teases.

Happy Valentine’s Day: McKinley High’s hallways will be buzzing with love, and one couple’s status will take quite the emotional turn. Before you get your hopes up Finchel fans, it’s not Ms. Berry and Mr. Hudson we’re talking about. We also promise that fan bases for two couples will explode. One will explode with happiness. The other will explode with…unhappiness. And all those tangled webs weaved with Finn, Rachel, Puck, Quinn and Sam in this episode? It gets messier, thanks to a little help from known mischief maker Santana.

Steve Jones talks ‘X Factor’ US reports

Steve Jones has confirmed reports that his name has been “mentioned” for the X Factor US hosting role, but played down a recent suggestion he could be a frontrunner.

The former T4 presenter emerged as a possible candidate last month with reports that he could join Simon Cowell’s new Fox competition this year.

Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “I’ve met people within the X Factor USA circle but you can’t really talk about these things because if they don’t come [to anything] you end up looking like a bit of a d**k!

What Truce? ‘Glee’ Slams Lohan Again and Dina Is ‘Hurt and Shocked’

EXCLUSIVE: Millions of ‘Super Bowl’-watchers stuck to FOX last night to watch the blowout episode of ‘Glee, ‘ but no one was more surprised than Dina Lohan when guest star Katie Couric took a nasty swipe at her, calling the celeb mom and her dog a loser.

“So much for the peace between the Lohan family and ‘Glee, ‘” a family friend of Dina’s told me after watching the episode.

If you need a refresher, the show just apologized for mocking Lindsay Lohan earlier this season. In the episode, Gwyneth Paltrow guest starred as a Spanish teacher and name-dropped the actress in a lesson, asking, “Lindsay Lohan is totally crazy, right?”

“They are all a bunch of bullies, ” my source seethes. “Dina is hurt and shocked and hasn’t done anything to deserve this constant teasing from this show.”
