Maybe I'm missing something (likely :P), but I can't really see anything wrong with this 'backstory'. I'm happy for them however it all began. Did anyone actually believe the teevee moment was the first time they met? I think it's kind of fun if that was just a way they decided to make public what had already started. ETA - meant to say thank you, Caffiend, for the link to that wonderful article! Really enjoyed reading a bit more about Todd and their history. Seem like a perfect match of lovely people, I'm so happy for them both and everything that is (hopefully) to come for Carly.
