Judges give Utah ‘Idol’ hopeful thumbs down
After waiting more than a month for the second round of auditions, 18-year-old Kelly Coombs finally stood in front of four “American Idol” producers Tuesday in a room inside Salt Lake City’s EnergySolutions Arena and sang “Let’s Hear It For the Boys” by Denise Williams.
The judges gave her a thumbs down.
“Too theater,” they told her, saying that her voice sounded too much like a Broadway diva’s.
The Lindon teen was one of scores who showed up at the home of the Utah Jazz on Tuesday to sing in front of the Fox show’s producers for the second round of auditions for next season.
Coombs and her family said the show’s judges, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and the “Idol’s” newest addition, songwriter and judge Kara DioGuardi, will secretly be vetting out contestants in a third round of auditions Thursday and Friday. All auditions this week are closed to the public and news media.

David Archuleta Saddened By End of Idol Tour
As the American Idol tour comes to an end, season seven runner-up David Archuleta is feeling bittersweet.
“I’m here in Tulsa for the last day of the tour and it’s pretty sad but exciting at the same time. I don’t think it’s really hit all of us that it’s the end of the whole American Idol experience together. It’s been an AMAZING year,” the singer, 17, wrote Sunday on his MySpace celebrity blog.

‘KILLER’ KARA
KARA DioGuardi, the new “American Idol” judge, is going through a bit of a behind-the-scenes audition herself. On TV’s biggest stage, no less. After sitting through “Idol” auditions in New York, Jacksonville, Louisville and San Francisco, she’s finding her footing, she says. And she says her style continues to evolve as she critiques prospective contestants.
GAC’s Into the Circle Debuts Saturday
Rodney Atkins, James Otto, Kellie Pickler, Ashton Shepherd and Chuck Wicks are the five Country Music newcomers who will be paired with Opry member mentors in GAC’s new series, Into the Circle. The new artists have one-on-one sessions with Opry members to learn about headlining a tour and selecting songs, as well as managing a families and life on the road.
The five-part series debuts Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10 p.m. EST.

It seems like the Miley Cyrus picture scandals are over… For now! You also may or may not know that Cyrus has a new BF — Justin Gaston — a Nashville Star contestant and underwear model. Hey they have a lot in common, Miley likes to model her underwear also.
The first date we know of was on Sunday where they attended church together. It must have went well because E!Online says: “The [couple] followed up Sunday’s church date with a visit to L.A.’s Century City mall Monday.”

Tams takes it!
Coaldaleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Theo Tams, just days from his crowning as the 2008 Canadian Idol, returned home Friday for a much needed break.
After weeks of living and performing in Toronto on the Idol stage Tams was singled out as the winner of the Canadian Idol last Wednesday evening. Over the course of the summer over 30 million votes were cast in the competition and Tams came out on top after going head to head with Mitch MacDonald in the final two last week.

Cook was singing a line of “Crush” to Archie…when he holds Archie’s shoulders, he was singing “is it real or just another Crush”…..portion of the song…LOL

“Cook came out and I had him do a shoutout to my mom on video in which he said à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Hi Maggie, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m David Archuleta and I have a Crushà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ it was entirely funny. Soon after, people in all different directions had crush playing loudly (From a sterio, a broken radio *LOL heather* and a car). David was constantly singing and à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹boppingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ to the music. David cook was having fun with the song as well, grabbing david and singing it to him. They all seemed very energetic and happy outside in Evansville.
