Idol Holidays Redux - Jon Peter Lewis and Bucky Covington

Today’s Christmas treat–two Idol 8th place finishers. Jon Peter Lewis, from Season 3 and Bucky Covington, from Season 5.

Here’s Jon Peter Lewis singing his Canadian-realeased Christmas song “It’s Christmas” from 2005. This song, written by JPL and Canadian songwriter James Collins, charted on several Canadian charts during that season. It was featured on the Canadian “Now Christmas!” 3 holiday compilation.

Bucky Covington was recruited last-minute for the GAC Christmas tour last year, replacing Buddy Jewell who had to withdraw due to a broken wrist. Listen to Bucky talk about the excitement of touring–his first after the Idol tour. After a short interview, he performs the Eagle’s tune, “Please Come Home for Christmas.”

Those were great! I’ll admit that although I was a fan of JPL, I have yet to listen to his album. That song, and his performance, reminds me of John Mayer and really makes me want to hear more.

He has really matured as a singer– and his pipes sound more mature, too. He might have gotten farther on AI if he was this good then, especially that season.

I highly recommend JPL’s CD “Stories From Hollywood”. It’s my favorite Idol CD so far.

Hmmmm…not bad JPL, mucho better than when on idol. Nice sound. Few off notes but actually very good. I also heard another song by him somewhere and it was VERY good. Go JPL.

Bucky….hey, LOVE this one. Now that’s the style like to see/hear him do.

That was THE perfect Christmas song for Bucky. Loved it. Thanks for sharing, MJ.

I love me some JPL! Yes, his album is way neat!

JPL, when are you coming to the Philippines? Heh. ;)

    “Stories from Hollywood” is fabulous.

    Purps, you are getting spoiled!

    You reckon, pj? :lol_tb:

(Hey, a girl can dream. After all, a year ago, I never would have believed it would be that easy to get to see Elliott or Taylor and right HERE where I am, so maybe JPL would soon realize I want him to play his music for me, too. ;))

Here is a nice video of JPL at Idol Camp. I have to check out that album because I love the little snippets of his music that are featured here, very unIdol. He also sounds great covering Clapton with the kids.

Two of my faves from Idol past. Thanks, mj. LOVE the JPL song. He sounds, and looks, great. And I covet that guitar.

Bucky is always just a whole lotta fun.

Thanks, so much for posting Jon Peter Lewis and Bucky sounded great too. I still consider JPL, oops I probably should use his name…Jon Peter Lewis to be my favorite. It’s Christmas, along with his Stories from Hollywood album, and his single California Christmas are all available on itunes. I just went ahead and downloaded everything. I had the physical version of his album at one time, but somewhere along the line, someone did not return it to me. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it.

I am brand new to itunes, wanting the Human track for Blake Lewis finally pushed me over the edge to join itunes. I wonder what it says about me that so far the only two artists that I have downloaded on itunes, both have the last name Lewis and appeared on American Idol. LOL Itunes is addictive, so I am sure this American Idol Lewis theme I got going on won’t last for long.

Are you going to d/l Leona Lewis when she’s available here? LOL. She wasn’t on Idol, but the same franchise. :)
