This week’s edition of Idol in the mags…
The 5/9 edition of Entertainment Weekly features a story on how the Top 5 chose their song selections for Neil Diamond week. Many of you have read the article on line, and there has been much discussion about it. Interesting, the Idols don’t make the front page of the issue, like they would have in years past for a feature story. Ellen Pompeo from Grey’s Anatomy graces the cover instead. I’m sure that decision had something to do with Season 7’s declining ratings. This week’s numbers are the lowest in 5 years.
Carrie Underwood is featured as one of People Magzine’s 100 Most Beautiful in their May 12 issue.
Finally, Carly Smithson gets a page in the May 12 US Magazine–”Carly: What I Did After Idol”

It’s nice to see Carly happy (instead of sobbing), though. I’m going to go Youtube her “Alone” performance now.
ETA: Wow, Carly sounds almost like Ann Wilson in that performance, especially at the beginning and end. That was pretty good; less screaming, more singing (her eyes are still a bit freaky, but I can let it go). This is the kind of stuff Carly should be doing, not JCS, IMO.

You’re scared because the man looks absolutely terrifying. See, the problem with commiting oneself so fully to the body art is that it means the end of the road for you, and at such a young age. There’s no place to go except “tatoo artist” or “lead singer in an underground punk band”. As far as career possibilities go, you are completely and utterly srewed.
Carly is married to the guy who will undoubtedly become “scary old guy down the street” who all of the neighborhood kids tell frightening stories about. Carly won’t ever have any trick or treaters at her house, just the kids who dare each other to go knock on the door, then run screaming from the house when he answers. He could be the nicest guy in the world - but he’s made sure that 95% of America will be afraid of him.
And kids, let this be a lesson to you. That whacked out shit you do with those huge rings stretching out your earlobes? That’s not going to end well when you’re 45. And, your only job prospect is clerk in an alternative record store. Considering the record stores in general are an endangered species, well you’re f*#ked too.
Whoa. Do they seriously have a restaurant named Pink Taco? Whoa.
Spence- Why do I see in uptick in the number of Earlobe reconstrutions in every plastic surgeons offices nationwide very very soon? Yeah not seeing Carly’s hubby as the next executive vp at Bank of American anytime soon….:)

Carly needs to let Mr. Voodoo know that her glow in the dark arm didn’t do her any favors on Idol so he just needs to keep scribbling all over his stupid self.
But I doubt she will. Anyway, guaranteed, theres more than the arm going on with Carly.
And, staying on topic, Carrie is very, very pretty but apparently has issues as well. go figure.
As far as who should be on the 100 Most Beautiful People, I’d say Jason should be on it. I think he is beautiful inside and out.
I met Todd…Carly’s husband last week. He is a real nice guy…nothing scary about him at all. As a matter of fact Carly, her husband and her family were all nice people. At first I had the same idea about Todd…when I saw him on TV…but after talking with him he is a pretty cool guy. Another lesson to me to never judge a book by it’s cover.
But, you see, Ben, that’s just the problem. Todd’s “cover” will scare a lot of people away before he has a chance to show them who he really is. By tattooing himself the way he has, he has limited every opportunity he could have. IMO, the excessive tattoos, like he has, do a real disservice to whoever has them.
