New Idol performances will be introduced to the iTunes collection in a few days. Before that happens, I thought we could take a look at the Top 10 performances as they stand today. Brooke White is at the Top of the list, with David Archuleta right behind her at #2 and #3. David Cook holds 3 spots in the Top 10. Carly Smithson rounds out the list at #8 and #9.
Bonus: Notice Katharine McPhee’s “Over It” in the mix. A nice bounce from her appearance last week.

huh…i am really surprised that brooke is number 1…i mean, i liked let it be, but i didnt think it was a top spot holder. but that’s cool none the less.
Does this foretell us something about who’s most likely to be in the top 5?
Possibly but things can change. I wouldn’t have put Let it Be or Imagine on the top of the list if I were ranking them (unless they were by the Beatles/John Lennon). I haven’t bought any of the top 10 songs.
Notice Ruben’s Celebrate Home is nowhere to be found? As much as Ryan keeps plugging it….that’s sad.
Let’s not read much into Ruben’s song not placing here yet. And as for the plugs, there hasn’t really been much, as there shouldn’t be as the boot song usually has a momentum of its own. Truthfully, it’s been aired in snippets twice, and Ryan has mentioned it maybe thrice. Not much plugging at all. Let’s not sing Ruben’s post mortem just yet.
I am truly glad that Imagine has the legs it has. I would not have Brooke’s Let it Be so high. But then, it’s the strength of the song, and the singer.
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET THE SONGS FOR TONIGHT!!!!????
Pooh! I’m sad Jason isn’t shown higher - and more frequently…..
Plus, what dukes said!
You can’t necessarily read anything into that. It’s pretty obvious that there is little rhyme or reason to which Idol alumni songs end up being grouped with those from this year’s crew.
Carrie’s “So Small” is not in the top 200 downloads. She does have two songs that are: “All-American Girl” which was #27 last week and “Before He Cheats” which was #135. Neither of those songs are picked up on that chart. Jordin and Daughtry also have songs outselling “So Small”. For all we know, Ruben could be oustelling Brooke’s “Let it Be” by 10 to 1. Probably not, but we need more research/info before we can assert that (unless he’s showing up way down at number 40)
BTW “It’s Not Over” sold 7.5K downloads last week for 178th position. “It’s Not Over” sold more downloads than “So Small”. Gives you a bit of a landmark at how very low these numbers are for everybody.
Kristen, your are a damn genius. Even math challenged abby got that one!
Does anyone know what the song “Celebrate Me Home” is about? It reminds of a song that would be sung at a funeral. I really don’t want to buy it and then be right about the song. Any idea? Anyone?
gabam - “Celebrate me home” is actually a Christmas song by Kenny Loggins. It is all about going home and being with family and friends after traveling far and wide and now returning to your roots.
AI decided to re-arrange it for the swan song. Clay sang a beautiful rendition at his last 2 or so Christmas tours. But unfortunately, it is not available on any of his CD’s.
I wish we could hear the entire song on AI. Isn’t Ruben supposed to appear sometime soon?
DAVID COOK IS AMAZING!
to be honest i am kind of surprised that brooke made the list with the davids. i think we could see a david v david finale and that would be great! i think they are both talented and both have huge fan bases.
i found this really funny fansite for david cook. i’ve looked to see if any of the others have similar sites but i haven’t found anything else like this.
