Idol News Roundup: Daughtry, David Archuleta, Blake Lewis and More
An Idol news roundup for y’all!
Daughtry’s sophomore album, Leave this Town comes out July 14, and if you’re the type who must have every track available, by my calculations, you’ll need to purchase 4 different versions of the album. Check out the complete track lists of all versions at DaughtryOfficial.com
Update: According to the DaughtryOfficial mods, four of the bonus tracks will be available for sale as individual downloads when the album drops on July 14. That leaves the iTunes pre-order as the only track unavailabe as a single.
Jesse McCartney just revealed an interesting tidbit in a radio interview, “Jive Records just reached out to me last week and they want me to write for David Archuletaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s new album.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Archie is currently working on two albums, a pop record, and a Christmas album. By the way, if you want tickets to David’s June 29 Atlanta concert with Demi Lovato, they’ve been discounted to $14.99…
Season 6 runner up, Blake Lewis just twittered that he’s finally got his website back–I’m assuming from his ex-label 19R/Sony. You can sign up for his mailing list at BlakeLewisOfficial.com. His new album on Tommy Boy Records, Heartbreak on Vinyl drops later this year.
Blake’s season 6 Idol-mate, Chris Richardson twittered his trip to Nashville last week for some songwriting sessions. He finished 3 songs, including a tune called “Lost and Found” and attended the CMT Video Music Awards. He’s back in Virginia, working on more songs
Season 7 Idol, Brooke White has a new single, “Radio Radio” and a new website–check it out. Her album High Hopes and Heart Break comes out July 21.
Season 2 Idol, Kimberley Locke is the new co-host of the talent competition show Gospel Dream, now in its 4th season on the Gospel Channel. The new season premiers June 24 at 10 pm.
Top 36 contestant from Season 8, Alex Wagner-Trugman, had an unfortunate mishap on the basketball court yesterday. At first, he thought he broke his ankle, but after an MRI today, Alex twittered, “sprain, legament damage and tears. But not as bad as it could be! Crutches and brace for bit then physical therapy.” Alex twittered a pic from the hospital here, and this “The worst part is that through all this pain, I have no boundaries stuck in my head… Why?!” Hee.

here is a vid of him getting his plaque

I’m seeing David Cook at the Lensic theater in Santa Fe on Tuesday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lensic_Theater
Really, really cool theater, capacity like 820 seats.
Can’t wait for the show!
Bingo! I was too embarassed to even ask my friends to go to a Disney concert. Luckily, one of his solo gigs is in my neck of the woods :mrgreen_wp:
I’m Listening to Regina Spektor right now…(((thank you David))) WOW… She’s so beautiful to listen to. Does that make sense?
Anyway, blah. I’m kinda curious as to what Blake Lewis is going to release, but then… he’s such a douche that I think I’ll feel a little disgusted that I’m listening to him….. sorry….RAMbLE BLAH!
Look what Archie just tweeted…LOL!!!!
i was just about to post that…. man, that i did not expect. I think i woke someone up.
For me, this one even beats “hush cats.”
Hey MJ!
Could you look into the newest angle to Demogate? I just don’t know how reliable the source is. After all, it’s TMZ we’re talking about. XD
The entire scandal is kinda confusing right now
Thanks!
Careful David, your sarcasm is showing.
Bahahahahahaha David!
I’ve been out of the concert-going demo for quite some time until the last year or so, so I don’t know how they market acts in general, but I believe when I got the announcement from the Mann about this particular Demi/David gig, David was listed as her “special guest.” I’ve noticed that “special guest” language a lot lately; is it something new?
When I saw Better Than Ezra at the Trocadero (holds ~1300, mostly SRO, but includes a cool balcony with benches) last week, they were joined by “Special Guest” Tyrone Wells. Tyrone performed for about an hour (the same length as David Cook’s headlining Declaration Tour peformance at Penn State York back in April). Now Tyrone (whom I’d never heard of, BTW) just released a new major label album, so I’m guessing the “special guest” billing is something that’s paid for by the artist’s management and is a step above the typical “with John Doe” billing?
I don’t know how these things work exactly, but $25 at the door to see BTE and Tyrone Wells seemed like an awfully good value, given how awesome both those acts were, compared to $50 for Demi/Archie or $35 for Cook/Ryan Star (who were both also awesome, but that show was SHORT!).
The Mann, BTW, is kind of an in-between-sized venue. It’s outdoors but more than half the seats are under a canopy and the rest of the seating is fully exposed to the elements, and then there’s a grassy section for folks to picnic on while catching the show. It’s the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, so it has great acoustics.
Seriously, if you love David, just go to the show solo or bring a kid as your beard, because I expect he will be terrific, Disney crapfest notwithstanding. I’m not a big Archie fan (although I love the kid), but I don’t get not supporting somebody you love just because you don’t care for how he’s being marketed. It’s not like Archie is doing a special “Disney show.” YMMV, of course.
YMMV, right? Lol Hearts and roses BootStar….love your post!
