Elliott’s Xmas CD sold 23,000 units this week and is #32 on the BB chart. That means he sold more than Jordin and Blake (and possibly Daughtry). (The CD was on sale for 75% off but still this is pretty cool.)
Not that surprising about the Chrismass cd sales retail wants to get rid of the Chrismass merchandise and they put them on display . Customers have hose christmas gift cards to spend and they love a deal..
Yeah he did good but nowhere do not compare numbers to Daughtry not fair. I can say Josh Groban or the one store Eagles.
Wow. “Tattoo” will probably go platinum next week.
Holy Moly, Tatoo has sold close to a million copies? I never saw that coming,,, which shows you what I know about music!
I’m just guessing but I think many Xmas CDs were probably on sale last week (along with Xmas tree lights, etc.) Not sure how many made it to top 50 albums in the BB 200.
Tattoo has a strong pop appeal and Jordin’s voice is perfect. She’ll have more hits on Top 40. I just don’t know if she can sell albums. I wish her well and think the AI people are probably thrilled she won right around now.
I think Elliott did pretty good. K.T. Tunstall, whose holiday cd was on sale at Target right alongside Elliott’s and whom I would consider a much bigger name, is on the chart this week at #92. So, at the same price, she sold less.
Although only a few are setting the world on fire, a fair number of Idols, such as Elliott and Jordin, seem to be proving that they can hold their own with other prominent people in the business.

Ken Barnes at USA Today has the stats up. Kellie Pickler sold 3,200 to pass the 700,000 mark. Way to go Kellie!

Are the Christmas albums counted separately from the regular albums? I didn’t see any Christmas albums on the top 50 from HDD.
Elliott’s Xmas CD was a Target exclusive. Target probably didn’t give those numbers to HDD but they do to Billboard. So he hit #32 on the chart with a Xmas album that’s only sold in one chain.The album was very cheap but people still had to want to buy it.
Elliott has done very well but I think with major label support, he could be a platinum selling artist. Being indy is not easy even with a big Top 40 hit. Of course, being half owner of his label means he can’t really be “dropped.”
Isn’t it odd a Christmas CD got a sales surge after the Christmas? I mean, where were those buyers before Xmas and why are they buying them now? The magic of deep discount? I don’t understand it..
Ouch! Blake might drop off BB200 completely in 2-3 weeks. What a flop! And a jackass, if I may add. If the trend continues, he is the next one to be dropped.
