Those are last week’s BB200 numbers :) Ken Barnes won’t have current numbers out until later today.

Don’t worry ealbino. Those Billboard chart dates are so far in the future, it’s easy to get them confused. Plus, those SoundScan numbers leaked late this week, so a lot of people probably missed them.

I appreciate when people bring numbers over.

Congrats to Jordin for going plat! :)

Hmm.. Chris in his 60th week sold almost twice as much as the newly-minted Idol in her 7th week, with a top 10 hit single. Very interesting.

  10. 10 jpfan Jan 16th, 2008 at 5:46 pm

Chris is selling more in his 60th week than Carrie with her second album. Elliott needs a third single. :)

And Carrie needs a cross-over hit. Just ask Taylor ….. Taylor Swift, that is. LOL

We get enough inter-Idol fan wars on this site. Please don’t bring the Taylor Swift-Carrie Underwood fan wars here. There are plenty of sites hosting those already.

Personally, I think both artists are doing extremely well and there is no reason to fight.

Congratulations Taylor on selling 700K units of Taylor Hicks!

There’s something weird about this number however,

Taylor Hicks “Taylor Hicks” 100 (lw 200) Total: 700K

According to Ken Barnes, Taylor’s total last week was 699K and he sold 200 units; now after selling 100 units, his total is 700K — what are we to believe about these number of units sold and what is the TRUE total?

    :dunce_tb:

According to Ken Barnes, Taylor’s total last week was 699K and he sold 200 units; now after selling 100 units, his total is 700K

I don’t see the confusion. These numbers are rounded. At some point, they flip over.

Say he had sold 699,453 albums as of last week. That rounds down to 699K. Then, he moves another 100 units and his new total is 699,553. That rounds up to 700K. Anything less than 500 is rounded down. Anything 500 or above is rounded up.

Ken has been doing reporting numbers for years. He makes the odd mistake, but is is right the vast, vast majority of time. His numbers sync up with numbers reported in BB and with SS numbers that leak elsewhere.

Or have I misunderstood the question?

No Kirsten — now I get it — ease of posting the numbers and all that! Thanks for clearing it up. :-))
