Oh My! 80% increase for LO! Amazing. Even the little rainbow got a big boost. Woohoo!!!!! So all in all, he got a 53%, 58%, and 80% increase this week (on singles and album). AI pimpage is the best!!!!!
I added the numbers for songs that were listed as being sung on the show (I think I got them all):
Bon Jovi à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Livinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ On a Prayerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Randy Madden (did not get through)
- This song always gets a bump when sung on AI and as just sitting outside of the Top 50 anyway.
Bon Jovi à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Wanted Dead or Aliveà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Group “How Bad Are They Song”
- Again, Bon Jovi is received well by Idol fans. Maybe people wanted to drive the butchered version out of their mind by listening to the real verison.
Vanessa Carlton à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“A Thousand Milesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Casey Carlson (Gold Ticket)
- Indication of a popular song or is Casey already gaining fans. The recap said that she was raved about by the judges.
Cascada à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Everytime We Touchà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ – Lea Marie Golde (did not get through)
- According to the recap, this was the girl in the pink outfit with Taylor Swift asperations. An indication that she just might be or the song is just popular?
Here is the airplay chart. Number in brackets is the increase (or decrease) in audience impressions since last week:
No. 55 – David Cook ( 0.2 million)
No. 62 – Kelly Clarkson ( 19.6 million)
Jennifer Hudson is 43 on the R&B airplay chart.
Here is the streaming chart:
No. 4 David Archuleta – Crush
No. 5 David Archuleta – A Little Too Not Over You
No. 6 David Cook – Light On
Whoaaaa at LO’s boost and yay for Crush almost at 1.5!
WOW! :clap_tb:
I could kiss Simon Fuller right now. Go Golden Anchor and go Magic Platinum Rainbow!
Seems like Idol brought increases all around, Yay!
Simon Mad Genius Fuller? Heeehe.
This is exciting.
Silly peeps downloading Bon Jovi singles when Amazon had Cross Roads, the album, as a 1.99 mp3 download last week.
And, can I just say, YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY, David Cook!!!!!!!!!!!
Whew, glad I got that out of my system, or else I might have exploded, or imploded, or just ploded.
:clap_tb: :clap_tb: :clap_tb:
A real bit of magic this week. And what ´s more LO is still No. 12 on itunes and has been since Monday so hopefully it will sell as much next week.
I see ALTNOY around 53 on itunes pop and TOML around 50 on itunes pop, so since you have TOML, would you know the digital numbers on ALTNOY, current and to date? I’m sure they are small, but I’d kind of like to know if you have them.
Sorry. Only the top 50 songs leak and then songs the leaker thinks are interesting (usually because they’ve debuted or had a big move). Perhaps Brian over at Idol Chatter will post numbers later today.
Anybody think the big jump in David Cook’s numbers have anything to do with the break-up between him and Kimberley Caldwell?
Women fans are very possessive and a lot of them are very happy about the break-up and are spending. Coincidence? Maybe? Maybe not?
Where is the devil icon, lol?
I don’t think it’s anything as nefarious as that…more likely it’s an Idol Season Premiere boost. They featured Cook on the opening episode and really pimped him during the Kansas City auditions. That plus his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel probably reminded viewers (those who are more about the show than the singers) that last year’s winner had an album out.
Which gets me curious…don’t suppose there was any boost for the album track “A Daily AntheM,” since it was featured in Cook’s montage on last week’s opener?
I don’t think so. I think the people who were that worried about that whole relationship are pretty much in the minority. Perhaps, they were just more vocal about it.
I certainly believe it was attributed to the Idol premiere/pimping and his JK appearance.
He wasn’t promoted on last night’s show, and I don’t think they’ll do much tonight, either. We’ll have to see if his numbers are affected.

Swift Makes It Lucky Seven Atop Billboard 200
LOL jodeb — I was about to say “no”, but I think what is in effect is that the Idol public just had to be reminded about DC and informed that he has an album out there to purchase…so in this case any publicity is good publicity!
But I think the effect of the AI pimpmercial of David Cook far far FAR outweighed that of the little gossip items about their breakup
Yay for the Davids and Kelly bumps in the midst of the January slump!
Jodeb: Anybody think the big jump in David Cookà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s numbers have anything to do with the break-up between him and Kimberley Caldwell?
^^ LOL. Uh no. Cuz it’s rather anonymous this downloading stuff. Wouldn’t an admirer want him to know? Hee. That’s funny.
Saw this interesting bit from Idolchatter:
10. David Cook, David Cook, 31,000. The album rebounds from #18 to #10 in its ninth chart week. Sales jumped by 58% compared to last week, a bigger increase than any other album in the top 10. A special video of Cook was shown on last week’s season opener of American Idol. It was good cross-promotion: Cook is the biggest star to emerge from the show since Daughtry in Season 5. Two songs from Cook’s album are listed on Hot Digital Songs. “Light On” vaults from #43 to #17. “The Time Of My Life” re-enters at #131

Apparently LO is extremely limber, and has now “vaulted” up from #43 to #17. Hee!
Also from Brian Mansfield – Idol Chatter
The premiere of American Idol did wonders for former Idol finalists that weren’t country singers. David Cook jumped back into the Top 10, as 31,000 people bought his debut album, 58 percent more than the previous week’s 19,000. Cook did even better on the digital side, with a whopping 140 percent increase, going from nearly 3,000 to 7,000. That’s enough to push from from 35 on SoundScan’s Current Digital Albums chart to 7. He’ll pass 100,000 digital-album sales next week — he’s at 892,000 overall. (Only seven albums on the 50-spot Current Digital Albums chart saw sales increases last week. David had the biggest percentage increase of any of them except for the Boxer Rebellion’s Union, which made its debut.)

Just for fun: The biggest grosser on this report: Vincente Fernandez – $5.8M over 9 concerts. Biggest single concert reported: AC/DC in Fargo North Dakota, $1.87M. And who knew the Trans-Siberian Orchestra was so big? They made over $12M in this report (but those concerts were reported seperately).
It is fun to see that Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” sales have gone up because just the other day on youtube or somewhere someone commented that those sales were going up because Archuleta has been singing that song at the keyboard since December at a Tree Lighting ceremony (and at the Jingle Balls and last week at the Hard Rock Cafe) to a great response and his youtube hits of when he played it at age 14 are up to 2.9 million as well as 171,000 on the tree-lighting event. That, combined with the Idol tryouts means good sales for Carlton.
So has this station added ALTNOY yet??? :innocent1_tb:
And when are the other big markets going to add it? Come on B96, Archie made it to the Jingle Bash in a freakin Chicago snowstorm!
