Idol Update

Elliott Yamin is on a roll.  His debut CD drops on March 20. He debuted his single “Wait For You” on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. Check out a clip from his upcoming video here. You can listen to “Wait For You” at Elliott’s My Space. Good stuff.

Jennifer Hudson was the recipient of an NAACP Image Awards Friday night. Jennifer won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in “Dreamgirls.”

Ace Young will be the spokesman for the next two months for the Dreyers Ice Cream American Idol campaign. He’ll be doing radio spots, TV Ads and personal appearances promoting Dreyer’s American Idol Ice Cream Flavors.

Bucky Covington new video debuted ”…in the #1 position atop CMT’s fan-voted CMT Pure Country video playlist. Additionally, the video debuted this week at an impressive #36 on Yahoo Music’s all-genre video chart, putting Covington in the company of fellow American Idol alum Carrie Underwood as the only two country artists with videos in Yahoo’s Top 50.”

You can now download Jon Peter Lewis’s excellent self-released CD, “Stories from Hollywood” at Americanidol.com.  This CD is my favorite ex-Idol album release of all time.  No lie.

Carrie UnderwoodJosh Gracin and Bucky Covington are among the performers of this summer’s CMA music festival.  The festival runs from June 7-10 in Nashville, TN.

Great news for Bo Bice fans. Bo will be singing the theme song to the new Will Ferrell movie Blades of Glory. Producer Ben Stiller has been a fan of Bo’s since his Idol run and invited him to work on the song. You can listen to the tune at the official Blades of Glory My Space.

Kelly Clarkson announced on her website that she just finished recording her latest CD “My December.”  No word yet on a release date.

Thanks so much for posting Elliott’s video clip, and single.
After so many months of worrying and waiting to see his career take flight, I am so looking forward to this cd, Elliott is a true natural talent., and AI helped him find his confidence and his path.

Good for Bucky! I have watched his video several times and it is one of the best I have seen. Lots of nostalgia and Bucky strolling down a sunlit path. I am glad to see it has gotten some official notice.

I love Bo’s song and he sounds great! I’m pleasantly surprised by Eliott’s songs, not because I didn’t know he’s got a good voice, but because I didn’t like his songs on AI all that much and really like the new single plus a couple of others. I really think it could be a hit.

This is great exposure for Bo. I hope it plays sometime other than just over the credits. The movie is potentially very funny, like Taledega Nights, or potentially atrocious. Either way it will likely do great box office, if history is any indication. He sings the hell out of the song. Love the over-the-top gravitas and big gospel choir, which seems to fit the movie’s premise. I can’t find out whether or not Bo actually wrote the song. It’s far from great, but works for what it is, the lyrics being the weak point.

Change up the lyrics and it would be an excellent AI “coronation” song. Really.

Elliott will perform a song from his new album on Regis & Kelly - March 20, album release day. It’s so nice to hear his sweet voice again.

Bo sounds fabulous! This is the type of sound that I wish had been on his album.

I’m very very happy for Bo, and this is the kind of thing that ODL should have been doing for him from day one. It’s telling that the story indicates it’s Ben who sought out Bo…

But the bottom line is that a job like this pays a LOT of money, just for the one song, like 5 figures. A big budget movie like this can be paying like 50K, 70K, even upwards of 100K to use a record that’s been a recognizable hit…if you think about it, every time you heard “Get Ready For This” in a movie trailer, which at one time was like every other week, their cash register was taking in probably $100K a throw (per film, not per showing of the commercial!)

You know, Bo’s next album should be a rockier Rascal Flatts. And he should take time off to really get physically rested and also get a trainer so he can take his shirt off and we will wet the floor. Pls don’t say this is undignified. Remember when Bruce Springsteen came out looking like a brick s**thouse? That worked, right?

I’m not a fan of this type of movie, but this soundtrack is just what Bo needs to kick start his career again.
“Mr. Bo Bice 2007 is yours” :smile2_ee:
