Bad news for fans of Dancing With The Star’s Misty and Maks–Misty May-Treanor is forced to leave the show due to an injury. It’s serious enough, that she’ll require surgery.
Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor will leave “Dancing With the Stars” after suffering an injury, Access Hollywood has learned.
A source close to the show revealed to Access that the volleyball star is out of the competition and will require surgery.
Though the competition was just two weeks old, May-Treanor had already stepped out as a “Dancing” star on the rise.
The injury occurred yesterday. Misty was released from the hospital last night.
Update: This is the statement producers gave Access Hollywood after they reported she was out of the competition:
“Misty May-Treanor sustained an injury on Friday and received immediate medical attention,” show producers told Access on Saturday in a statement. “Despite previous reports, she did not break her ankle. She is resting comfortably at home. Doctors will reevaluate her condition on Monday and determine the outcome of her participation on the show.”
There’s no official word yet that Misty is out of the competition.
Damn, I had her as my overall pick in the pool! If she’s gone, there go my points… Seriously, a speedy recovery to Misty. Her injury derailed what would have likely been a successful run on the show with popular dance pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

I’m am so very bummed. I love me some Maks. And Misty, too, for that matter.
I’m hoping Access Hollywood is wrong, even though I know they’re not. I’m sure she has to do what she has to do for her future, even if it does break my heart.
But I didn’t have her as my overall pick. The minute I saw the football player, I figured it would be him at the end.

But, I understand. Her dancing with an injury is quite a bit different from Cristian last year, because she’s an athlete and needs to be healthy with no lasting damage to her body, for her career’s sake. But still, that doesn’t make it suck any worse. Get well soon, Misty.
I second sunchick on giving Maks Samantha’s job for the rest of the season.
And no worries pj. :) No one replaces Maks as my DWTS tv bf. Heck, I halfheartedly watched last season (as in, didn’t care too much to watch, and missed half the shows) because he wasn’t on it.
ETA: I just re-read the update with the producers’ statement. Glad that she didn’t break her ankle. But, even with an ankle sprain (really serious or not), she would have a really hard time dancing this week because I’ve read that they are doing (SPOILER ALERT) the Jive, which is a whole lot of very quick footwork. I guess we’ll see tomorrow.

I have a feeling they already know whether she can dance or not (I’m guessing not), but the producers want to keep it a mystery…maybe all the way up until show time.
More drama for the show? It is too bad this involves the injury of a contestant who has to put her career first. Hopefully, it won’t be serious. Best wishes to Misty.
Maks is what was missing from last season’s show. I will miss, miss, miss him so much!
