I’m really happy for Elliott. Of all the albums released by Season Five alum (I’m still waiting for Ace’s), I like Elliott’s the best.

Nice interviewwith Elliot. The one problem that is wrong is this statement “Cutting edge of the music business” . Sorry to say but this is untrue many artist have done this(possibly Prince) before including AI former contestants JPL and Kim lock and they probably did not have the same distribution.

Interesting interview. Thanks for posting. So this is what Jared’s doing nowadays? Wonder what’s going on with his music career?

Great interview. Looks like Elliott got his hair cut. :biggrin_wp: Jared seems very comfortable in his role as interviewer.

Thanks for posting MJ! Great interview and really fun seeing Jared. Also, interesting hearing him talk about his “virtual label”. He’s accomplished a heck of a lot with no major label backing. Way to go Elliott! I wish he and Jared could have sung something!

Elliott is still my all time fave idol!!! Thanks for sharing this, MJ!

It’s cutting edge for the industry because the artist gets a healthy chunk of the royalties.

Great interview. Jared is a natural at this (and still a cutie). He’s obviously a fan of Elliott’s as well. Elliott is so happy, it’s just so great. He really deserves everything he’s getting now and I couldn’t be happier for him. All in all, an excellent interview.

Elliott, honey…most fans know the words to the songs on their favorite artists’ albums, both in the Idol world and beyond.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise and commenting on it is a rookie mistake, albeit one made by many Idol alums.

He is a still newbie in the business.

I think he’s truly amazed at all the love he’s getting and it’s still sinking in that this is for real.

I think Elliott was talking about his new single One Word when he was talking about people knowing the words. I might be mistaken. That song is really, really great live and you can hear everyone singing the chorus - loud and clear. He seems to be genuinely excited about releasing that song and it is defintely a crowd pleaser.

  18. 18 Barefoot Girl Aug 31st, 2007 at 11:14 pm

Yes he was talking about One Word Lu. It’s one of my favorites. After WFY and OW, Trainwreck will kill ‘em I think. Course, I’m biased.

Thanks MJ. It was great to see Jared again. Great gig for him. It was also great to see Elliott so happy and excited. He’s living his dream and I’m happy for him.

Elliott was talking about “One Word” being his next single and that the fans at his concerts love the song and sing along so he was happy that it will be released next. I don’t see any mistake in saying that.

My most favorite Elliott song, Train Wreck, just kills.

So does a car wreck, I think. Heh. :D

Elliott’s enthusiasm really shines through in that interview. :) It will serve him well. I’m glad he’s excited by the fan support. After all, the fans are his bread and butter.

That Elliott billboard is awesome, Purplesmile. I wonder how many fender benders it has caused. LOL.

  23. 23 Lu Sep 1st, 2007 at 9:06 am

Wow purple - I wish I could see that billboard as I’m tooling around town. Very cool!

I’ve watched this interview a couple of times now just because I love seeing Elliott’s enthusiasm shine through. I love how he’s doing what he wants to do and going about it the unconventional way. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him. Also I wonder, will Jared record?

  24. 24 Barefoot Girl Sep 1st, 2007 at 1:08 pm

That Elliott billboard is HUGE! Very cool. I hope somebody warns him about this :) He said he almost crashed his car the first time he heard WFY on the radio.

“One Word” is one of my favorite cuts on the CD. Great choice for a second single too. “Our” Elliott is on his way to being a real “stah.” What’s so cool to me is that his CD and single are charting on the R&B charts as well as the pop. He’s built a broad base of fans and this will serve him well.

  26. 26 Lu Sep 1st, 2007 at 2:14 pm

It’s extra cool to me that he’s doing it without being signed by a big label. Just to illustrate what he’s up against, I read that Elliott’s team had been trying to get him on Leno and they pretty much said “come back when your sales are higher”. Last time I looked he had outsold Kat who’s been on the show twice already. That’s the difference in big label versus indie. I’m not taking anything away from Kat - she’s very talented - just trying to show what Elliott is up against. He’s working his tail off…

  27. 27 sammy Sep 1st, 2007 at 4:20 pm

I watch Leno fairly often and the musical talent is often not the best. I have not run out to buy their CD’s. Does a show like that really make someone buy if they weren’t already planning to buy? Just asking.

  28. 28 Lu Sep 1st, 2007 at 4:56 pm

I dont know Sammy. I know the exposure did great things for Elliott’s sales after his appearance on AI. I dont think it ever hurts to get exposure for your music - especially when the audience is made up of millions like Leno/Letterman.

Elliott and Claudette have reportedly heard about and seen the billboard photos. :)

I forgot to credit JdelaCruz of my local forum who took that photo.
