Thanks for the reminder - will do

The new songs up are Hallelujah, I Don’t Wanna Cry, and Daydream. :)

Jackie and Michael are so cool. Kinda like their big brother.

It’s nice that they put new songs up on Jason’s MySpace. I love the song choices.

Everyone, please remember to visit Jason’s MySpace everyday and please play some or all of the songs each time you visit. He now has over 5 million views. He has over 796,000 plays. That’s amazing. If we play some songs every time we visit his page, he will reach a million plays very soon.

    New music. Yay!

A couple of (old) tour reviews…

    From CanMag

The pleasant surprise of the night was the performance of Jason Castro – very enjoyable. He reprised “Somewhere over the Rainbow” from the show. He pulled out one of his audition songs, Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” – probably one of the best things he has done. And Jason closed with The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Daydream”. Fun.

From the Yahoo Music blog “Reality Rocks”

Obvious crowd favorite Jason Castro’s lovable Spiccoli-esque personality, as he shuffled and chuckled red-eyedly through the entire show like he’d just woken up, elicited “I wanna have your baby!” screams from the ladies. He turned in a nicely laid-back performance of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy,” and the crowd went crazy, indeed!

Interesting account by Zeldasdobi at DDB of her meeting Jason in Portland…

…Jason came a long and I got his autograph and a pic. Later I got his pic again. One is of him looking at a woman’s Bible trying to find his favorite Bible verse. He said it was in Proverbs. It is an amazing shot. So good that the other Dreadheads think I should copyright it. I may do that before I post it on here. The sun is shining off of the bible onto his face lighting it up. OMG. One of my friends wanted to know just what Bob Marley is to Jason –a role model—what? So I asked him. He said that “ I admire his lyrics and some things about his life”…

…When Jason came by he started by singing “deep in the heart of texas”. I asked him about going to Powell’s bookstore that day and what books he bought. He said he bought a book about a monk. I asked him some more and he said it had the alphabet in it. I was thinking he must mean a foreign alphabet. So I asked him if he understood it. He kind of thought for a moment and said “I will talk about this in my vlog or blog”, not sure which he said…

Wow, yummy new stuff! Crack is soooo good!

Got some recorded stuff for you: A conversation with first Betsy and then Jackie, and an unusually clear live feed recording from the Tacoma show!

And a gabam said, as long as you’re online anyway, won’t you please open another window and play Jason’s MySpace songs? It’ll help his numbers, and hey–they’re some of my favorite songs, right there for free!

OH thank you Purple I had seen that one, I was looking for the one they did earlier in the show. I found it on Youtube. I am sooooo spoiled by all of you here on Mj’s (and very thankful to you all) I didnt think that I could try and find it myself. I did , finally, but thanks for this one too! This one is clearer than ones that I have seen.

The shirt thing with David C, I am just loving him more and more and more - go CC, MJ, Brooke, oh all of them. This is the best group of people -Me and Archuleta went wandering in Portland - wouldnt you have liked to wander in to them?

From The Seattle Times review of the Tacoma show

…Surprisingly, dreadlocked flower child Jason Castro really earned his tweener screams. He repeated his cheery TV renditions of “Over the Rainbow” (with ukulele) and the Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Daydream” with gusto, and brought a sunnier, lighter vibe, even to Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy…”

    Jason Castro special :)

I didn’t understand what MCas was saying, either. He speaks just like Jason does. Haha!

    Michael Castro is shy

  17. 67 gabam Jul 14th, 2008 at 12:46 pm

Purp, Jason is not in the first group number. It was just the Top 10-5.

Those Castros are all adorable. Love the vlogs.

    MasterClassLady on Jason’s Tacoma set:

    Somewhere Over The Rainbow

The person videotaping this song had great seats. And Jason’s voice sounds great tonight. I still wish he wouldn’t separate so many words within a phrase line. Phrasing - that is the biggest faux pas with this performance.

Love his head tone - it’s spectacular and it confirms the enormous potential of Jason’s capabilities.

He looks great on camera, doesn’t he? And he is wonderful with the audience.

    Crazy

Wow, his voice sounds really strong in the refrain. His upper vocals appear to have adjusted to the high tessitura of the key. This song really challenges his upper range and he is doing a splendid job with this song.

Once again, he needs to work on the phrasing elements in this and many of his songs, but this will come with time and experience.

However, this was a a strong, solid performance.

    Daydream

Great song performed by a great artist. His voice sounds stellar in this song - just super.

I still think he should encourage the audience to sing along with him or encourage them to sing the words during the instrumental section. It would help diversify the entire performance.

However, overall, I think there has been some noticeable vocal improvement. Perhaps Jason is feeling more confident with his performances and has physically adjusted to the rigorous pace of the tour.

    Good work Jason. Excellent!

“Great song performed by a great artist.” I could read that all day!

I love seeing great reviews of Jason.

And thank you purp for the clip of Cookie putting on the Jason shirt, lol. I love me some Cookstro!

Hopefully he’ll be able to make tomorrow’s date night.

According to Jason, in this video, he is going to record Hallelujah for a movie in Mexico(?). ;)

  24. 74 purplesmile Jul 15th, 2008 at 9:03 am

Speaking of Hallelujah, the little Jason Castro fan (who sang Daydream) strikes again… ;)

    Christopher Soto sings Hallelujah

(He appears to be Pinoy, too, like yours truly. Heh. ;D)
