Jason Castro – Love Uncompromised – American Idol Extra

I’ll get these up earlier next week, I promise. FYI, Rickey.org posts these too. But, of course you want to chat about them here, so, here’s the first in this week’s series of American Idol Extra Clips.

Jason Castro chats with American Idol Extra host, Jillian Reynolds.

Jason pretends he’s going to cut off his dreads. Ha ha, April Fools! After, sings his new song, “Love Uncompromised”.

Check it out after the JUMP…

  • Easy:

    I’ll be buying Jason’s album.

He’s got a very raw Jack Johnson feel to his music. I dig it. Hopefully enough people agree to sustain a career.

  • BootStar:

LOL, he found out how to get his dreads on the Internet! I don’t know why I find that funny . . . LOVE his boots! :wub_tb:

  • primeminister:

I love love love Jason. One of my favorite Idols ever.

  • justantonio:

i watched that entire A & M concert he did thats on youtube and it was amazing..i can’t wait for him to tour….I remember when MJ first posted his new songs from his first concert..I only liked a couple of them…now after some work I love all of them…the one i liked the least “shine your light” is one of my favorites now…well the version they did at A & M..hopefully he keeps it like that. …also out of all his songs my fav right now is “i’ll wait for you”

  • brie200:

I think it’s also that he’s just more comfortable now and much more at ease on stage. At A&M he was practically rocking out (for him) and he also seemed to be feeding off the energy of the crowd, which also unlike previous concerts, was mostly made up of his peers.

Of the new new ones, I’m really liking the Matter of Time one, which was the second song he performed. The only complaint I’d say is hopefully he’ll be writing some more non love songs because he seems to have a one track mind and it can tend to be overkill.

  • kerfuffle:

gabam, I second sumidol’s request: Links please. :mrgreen_wp: And I’m sure, like me, she’d like everything ya got.

Loving Kris, Adam and Allison (and liking Matt) this season. But I’ll never forget about Jason. :wub_tb:

  • lifeisgood:

His version of Crazy that he did at his TAMU concert Saturday was really good – actually all the vids of that concert have shown that he has more power and confidence.

  • “Loving Kris, Adam and Allison”

Me TOO Kerfuffle, those three are my favorite this year – the A’s could not BE more opposite of Jason but Adam does have his charm

  • lifeisgood:

If you go to the movie site and go to the Soundtrack page you can hear a snippet of Hallelujah – his is the 17th track.
It is a more subdued and stripped down version than the version that he does with his band – I like both.

sumidol, you and I seem to always be agreeing on the idols. And true about the differences between the A’s and Jason. I think Kris has some similarities to Jason: no pre-performance pimpage, low key, sweet, mellow, singer/songwriter, plays instuments (including ukulele!), cute as a button, makes “funny” faces when he sings, thought “boring” by many …

  • breakdown:

Jason is definitely not forgotten. He also did that performance in one take unlike the others who had to do theirs multiple times.

  • brie200:

Not to mention Kris does his own version of OTR, though as much as I do like Kris, I hope he’ll steer clear of doing it on Idol. But I imagine he would since it’s not usually smart to try to recreate other Idol moments, even if Kris has been performing it for a long time. Jason’s version is still too fresh in peoples minds.

Kris actually reminded me of Jason this week when he was doing his sexy face. It looked exactly like when Jason was trying to imitate Cookie’s camera face.

I see that links to songs have already been posted which can be followed to hear Jason’s entire concert. Here is a link to Hallelujah. The audio is good. I love this version:

(Three links appear to be too long for here. You can copy and paste the links into your browers to bring up the pages to download the three interviews.)

Here is a funny video of a song sung for Jason at his surprise birthday party last week:

  • LOL and thank you very much Gabam!!!

  • seattle_girl:

I had just posted the other day about how I was not feeling AI this year. This vid reminds me why ~ there are NO BOOTS this year!!! Sigh. JCas sure wears those boots well. :wub_tb: And cookie pulled them off pretty well too. I’m sure missing the boots.

I like how it seems that Jason is fine tuning his songs, I def like this arrangement better than the one with just one other guitar player. I keep telling myself to be patient about being able to buy new Jason tunes… but it’s hard. I am hoping that he’s using the time to polish everything off so the album does really well.

Thanks for the links Gabam! Off to view now….

  • 4got:

Thanks Gabam. That was an evening of Jason. I’ll lap up anything u got …

  • gabam:

Well, a fan made mp3s of Jason’s concert. When contacted, Jason gave authorization for the list to be posted for fans who wanted to download the songs from the concert. The first song on the list is not correct. Feel free to skip it. Here’s the link:

This person has the entire concert, including the chatter. Just click on “More from” or on her YouTube Channel for the other parts.

None of the videos are close up. The first five rows were reserved for students. Although they were more close-up, the student made videos that I saw were not complete.

  • eveh:

Ys I do like it. I was wondreing if I would. I like Jason and I can’t wait to hear the CD. Darling little ditz. I think he may be my fav contestant of all time. Not singer, person. Love his personality but he can sing too, so it is all good.

  • awilliams:

    Thanks for those links gabam.
It’s good to see Jason getting out there and honing his craft now. He’s off to a solid start.

Jason is much more articulate than he was given credit for last year. He does seem to be coming into his own and he’s right to take the musical path now while the iron is hot. He can go back and finish school in time.

I was very impressed listening to his “I am Second” video. Regardless of anyone’s faith, lack of it, or questioning of it – ya have to admit this is a very thoughtful and deep young man. Not many fellas his age are public about their spiritual life, if they even have one.

  • Grammie Kari:

The moment I laid eyes on Jason Castro, I felt the charisma. As time is passing, he is devloping confidence. Although, I am supporting Anoop this season, I will forever remember those special moments Jason had on AI. I cannot wait to purchase his CD.

  • Barbariba:

Jason is one of a kind.

  • oceana:

I’ll definitely be buying Jason’s cd. I love his voice and personality.
