LOL, pj. :D Jason really has no choice but to get used to it, anyway. ;)
Betsy has apparently started posting at castrocopia, too. This is her latest post at her own thread there…
Talked to Jason! He was in Las Vegas watching the fireworks with David C and Michael J! They were taking a break! No music talk allowed so we gave him that much, but I feel a Vblog coming on! Hope my gut is right! Anyway, thanks again and whoever goes to the concert tomorrow better post some great pics! I wish I could make it to each concert! They are a blast! Especially meeting you guys!
OMG I’m never going to catch up! I haven’t been to this thread in about 4 days and I’m going to need 4 more days to watch everything! I lol’ed at Jasons response to what he is going to do with the rest of his life, too, purple. I’m sure plenty of girls will volunteer for the “making babies” task.
LOL, jersey? Did you just read my post at the headlines thread on where to go for the best crack? ;) At any rate, good luck with catching up. :D

For sure! The mom is apparently not too thrilled at the prospect of becoming a grandma too soon, though, as she commented on the topic over at DDB, thus:
Yes, he will be a great dad, but could we hold off with making me a gramma! My mom stopped coloring her hair when her first grandchild was born and I was going to do the same, but now I’m going to have to rethink that strategy!
Betsy is cool, indeed, pj (and has her work cut out for her trying to follow all the Jason fansites, haha!). ;)
It appeared that Jason had a great time and was very relaxed. He sounded GREAT!
And MasterClassLady on Jason:
Crazy - Jason Castro (Full Version San Diego): Video By ThinkOfMeArchie
Oh Jason - do the fans LOVE YOU. And you communicate so well with your audience when introducing this song. I loved the new and renewed Jason.
You really emote this song so well - lots of feeling, so expressive and this adds a greater dimension to your vocal sound.
Outstanding work.
P.S. I would sing this song a semi-tone or tone lower. I think it would sit better in your natural singing range.
Daydream- Jason Castro (Full Version San Diego): Video By ThinkOfMeArchie
Loved the spoken intro. to this song How true, Jason. How true!
This is my favorite Jason song. It absolutely captures the essence of your artistry - a relaxed, folksy vibe that is so refreshing to hear.
And yet, when the song is a perfect fit, the voice soars to new heights. Your voice effortlessly and seamlessly caresses and reinvents the melodic line of this song.
Oh, caro! You finally found us! Hey, we weren’t hiding this, at all…I actually thought you were not coming here on purpose. Good to know you were just lost. Heh. ;)
Head on over to castrocopia, folks. Lots of goodies in there. ;)
Dear fellow Jason fans, do you remember the joy that Jason exhibited on Wednesday nights while doing the group numbers with the goofy songs and dance numbers, well you can relive that experience at the tour. LOL.
Here is a link to a YouTube video of the Top 10 singing “Please Don’t Stop The Music” in Fresno. It was shot by a Jason fan so the camera is on him a lot of the time.
I can’t tell you how impressed I am with Jason’s improvement during this live tour.
It was probably always there, but the pressures of the Idol competition clashed in a big way with the relaxed, open and sincere vibe he transmits through his song performances.
When left to perform, without being judged, he does just fine, although he needs to continue to refine and solidify his vocal strengths. All that will come in time - I have faith in Jason.
Overall though, like David A., he sounds tired as well. I hope they’re not becoming ill with fatigue
Here comes my favorite Jason song. And I love how he thanks the crowd before he begins. He still sounds a less energized than in previous shows.
It’s also too bad that he didn’t have enough room to stroll along the perimeter as he did in other venues.
That instrumental segment was perfect for that and the crowd lapped it up when he started to move around during this song. The stage was a little restrictive for this performance - just my opinion.
But, he is a sweetheart and I love the fact that he brings something totally new to this Group of 10. He is a refreshing young talent and, if mentored correctly, will be extremely successful.
Someone should pass these on to Jason (or his family)–not only are they great, especially coming from someone who knows what she is talking about, but she makes useful critiques (so unusual)…
…Tattooed Carly Smithson can belt classic rock, and she made a huge sound with Heart’s tough “Crazy on You.” But only Jason Castro, the guy with the dreadlocks and John Travolta eyes, successfully interpreted a hit, Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy,” with any challenging dedication to rearranging a song’s structure and feeling…
Hello, fellow crack addicts! I have a favor to ask of you. Jason’s MySpace page is getting startlingly enormous numbers of views–he just passed 4 million views yesterday and this morning is at 4.2 million. That’s 200,000 views in less than a day! But the auto-play feature on his music player is down, and out of those 200,000 page views he only got around 16,000 plays yesterday. While you’re online anyway, please open a window with Jason’s MySpace page and run the music player. You can “adjust” the volume, and you don’t need to register with MySpace. For more and why, follow the links.
I hope I’m not breaking any rules, MJ–if so I apologize, I have NO intention of disrupting your blog!
Don’t forget this part: “Castro’s rare individuality defined the depressing status quo of “Idol.” ”
It was actually a very negative critique of all things Idol … except for that one kind remark about Carly, some quite nice things to say about Brooke, and the most nice to say (and nothing bad, save a reference to SOTR being 69 years old) about Jasonnn. From a guy. Just saying.
THEN. I said “Since we can’t take pictures with you….can you hold out your arm and I’ll photoshop myself in later?” I think he told me “Really?” and then he delivered:
Oh back to my happy place, I have been a crab ass lately. Photoshop or photochop girl - I LOVE that and all Jason, MJ and David C more and more. I have a lot of catching up to do right now so excuse me for a moment or two
Archie is the only one to have a guy following him down the autograph line (my friend dubbed him David’s Diablo because he’s soooo mean. hahaha. Let’s just call him DD). … All of the Jason fans were really disappointed because he never got to come out and sign autographs. They started chanting “WE WANT JASON!” for a good two minutes straight. So Jason comes RUNNING up to greet his fans.. but DD literally stops and grabs Jason and tells him he has to get on the bus NOW. Long story short, Jason never signed anything and DD definitely is a heartless soul.
Do I have to start getting all paranoid AGAIN?
And more: Jason’s MySpace music player is STILL minus auto-play, and you KNOW there are going to be tens of thousands popping in to see if date night is happening this week. So PLEASE remember to start the music player yourself when you pop in yourself–and maybe a few extra plays, to help make up for some of those who won’t bother? Again, you don’t have to belong to MySpace to do that!
…No. 4 Jason Castro was effortlessly endearing in his too-short set, serenely sleepy-eyed and strumming a ukulele while sweetly crooning “Over the Rainbow.” (No one cared that he still mixed and mismatched the words). Castro switched to acoustic guitar for a committed take on the Gnarls Barkley hit “Crazy” (which he auditioned with but we didn’t see on the show because of rights clearance issues). And he could have a hit right now with his jangly version of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s 1966 “Daydream,” which perfectly suited his persona as a “daydreamin’ boy…”
Before the past season gets too hopelessly lost in our memories, I wanted to set down in pixels the most memorable performances (as in best) from my standpoint. That standpoint, of course, will differ from a lot of yours (although not substantially — I think practically everything on this list was well-liked by most of you as well) and the broader rankings of whatnottosing.com, which served as a fabulous memory refresher.
Drawn from all the performances in the semifinals as well as the finals, my list originally totaled just 14, which kind of surprised me, but double-checking, those were the performances that stood out in a positive way for me. I reduced it to a top 10 for convenience, but I’ll list the runners-up below it. In order, 10-to-1, here are my Season 7 keepers:
8. Jason, Over the Rainbow: Just when his dazed-and-confused act was starting to pall, he charmed the world with a ukelele-accompanied version of Hawaiian icon Iz’s version of the Ozzie classic.
1. Jason, Hallelujah: But in the end, I have to hand the crown to Jason’s touching rendition (and inspired choice) of the Leonard Cohen/Jeff Buckley classic, a gripping performance of a left-field pick of a great song that summed up everything Idol can be at its best…

Dolly P and Jasonnn
LOL! Literally!
Aaaaaand… here’s the review from Variety. Trade papers don’t come more respected.
Those who present coherent stage personas that connect with their “Idol” performances — the two Davids, Syesha Mercado, Jason Castro, Carly Smithson and, surprisingly, Chikezie — are helping their careers.
[…]
Castro, whose perf was greeted with wide-eyed stares and silence by the kids, has found a comfort zone in between Jack Johnson and George Michael that could become Adult Contemporary gold.
I don’t know that I agree with the assessment in all particulars–but positive is positive. (Compare with the comments on MJ and Brooke, ouch!)

Aww, that’s a great pictorial, Purps.

Purplesmile, I enjoyed your pics, esp. the photoshop. So cute! Both of you!
‘Idol’ finalists return to Southern California
…But leave to Jason Castro, still sweetly naïve and dreadlocked, to offer up his wide-eyed truth.
“This is the best summer job I’ve ever had,” Castro said when asked how he’s enjoying the tour which reached its fifth stop in Los Angeles on Monday.
“Last summer I was cleaning pools,” he said. “Now I make more in one night than I did all summer.”
It is, as Castro noted, a job, among which the duties including meeting the media for brief interviews the afternoon before each show…
Those weren’t my own pics (just something I found; I’m not in the States), bluegreen, but you’re welcome. ;)
These aren’t my pics, either… ;)
