Jennifer Hudson - Album Sneak Peek

Listen to Jennifer Hudson’s new album right HERE.

Jennifer Hudson drops next Tuesday, 9/30.

You can pre-order the album from Amazon HERE

…Or click on the album cover…

I’m listening right now!

ETA: I just listened all the way through…and this is a great set of songs for Jennifer.  “Spotlight” is the current single, and while it’s got a smooth, catchy vibe, its by no means my favorite on the album.  Although I find the incessant beats annoying on “If This Isn’t Love”, I have to agree with Roger Friedman, it’s going to be her hit.  It’s a total earworm and will fit perfectly on your KISS stations, from coast to coast.

The Robin Thicke penned “Giving Myself”, “You Pulled Me Through” and “We Gon’ Fight” are pretty, pretty ballads.

Speaking of beats that don’t annoy me, “Pocketbook” featuring Ludacris is a ton of sassy fun.  The duet with Fantasia, “I’m His Only Woman” features a not-to-be-missed introduction as the girls go at it on the telephone.

“And I Am Telling You” from Dreamgirls and the stately gospel song, “Jesus Promised Me a Home Over There” round out the album nicely.

Jennifer’s vocals are amazing here.  This album has been in the works for awhile.  Rumor has it that an original set of songs were ditched and Jennifer had to start over from scratch.  For Jennifer’s fans, this album will be worth the wait.

Well i haven’t gotten through the whole thing yet, but Pocketbook is cracking me the hell up. In a good way.

Well, I just had to skip over everything to hear the duet first. Uh huh…. :clap_tb:

Did that introduction crack you up or what? LOL. Actually, that song isn’t one of my favorites on the album. This is a very good debut for Jennifer. Great songs, great vocals.

Perfect chick-drama, especially for those itching for some Fan/Jen drama. I’m relieved it wasn’t a shouting match, like when JH & Beyonce performed at the Oscars.

I’m still listening, but that Robin Thicke song is great in-studio.

Yeah, this is great for Jennifer. Worth the wait.

    I’ll buy it.

Ok I’m liking that picture much more than the cd cover.
Pocketbook is hilarious! I’m going to have to blare that first line out of my ipod when I’m shopping on a crowded Saturday!

I think Spotlight is one of my least favorite songs on this.

mj, I meant to ask this yesterday. If we click through to Amazon from your site, do you get the credit you get on our entire order or just the item we clicked through on? Just wondering if it was better for you if I used your store and did each item separately or if I could do them all together. Is that a dumb question? :blush_tb:

Just starting to give it a listen. I’m just happy that things have worked out so nicely for her.

Listened to most of Jennifer’s songs twice. Really great album. She’s so talented. Love her duet with Fantasia — and the “phone call” — LOL

I never tire of saying that Jennifer was my favorite of AI3. Lost interest in that season after she left. So happy for her success!

I really can’t wait until I have an opportunity to tell someone, “Don’t make me hit you with my pocketbook…”

Just started listening but “Spotlight” has been in steady rotation on my ipod for weeks. It’s not even the best song on here, which I’m stoked about. “Pocketbook” is hysterical. I’m gonna have to buy this! Good for her, I love that she’s done so well for herself.

No, not a dumb question at all. Thanks for supporting the site, Bobbi! When you click on an item, it opens a session connected to my account. I get credit for anything you purchase during that session. So the answer is no, you don’t have to make separate clicks. :).

Thanks, mj, for posting this sneak peek. I agree it’s a great album and worth the wait. If the rumors are true that she scrapped a whole other set of songs, that must have been very frustrating for her, but I think it’s going to pay off in the long run.

This is a really good album. I’ll be picking it up next week. Good job Jennifer!

I pre-ordered it last week, can’t wait to hear the rest. Both “Spotlight” and “Pocketbook” are singles I have.

Thanks, mj! Kelli’s (I’m pretty sure her date hasn’t changed) and Jennifer’s cds both come out Tuesday so I’ll be pre-ordering both. :)

I REALLY like this! I didn’t watch idol regularly until S5 (thanks to dvr) so I barely remember JHud but her voice is outstanding and I love most of these songs.
