Jennifer Hudson Family Murders – An Update

As of right now, Jennifer Hudson’s nephew Julian King is still missing. There’s still an Amber Alert in place. William Balfour, considered a suspect in the murders of Jennifer’s mother and brother is in police custody, but he refuses to cooperate with authorities. Jennifer was due to return to Chicago last night from a vacation in Florida.
Just a couple of items to call to your attention this morning:
- TMZ is reporting that the dispute that triggered the murders may have been over a car. “A WBBM reporter is saying that neighbors have said a family member in the Hudson household apparently tried to steal a car a few weeks ago, an argument ensued, and he vowed revenge. A photo on Julia’s MySpace page (bottom) posted prior to today’s events alludes to some kind of dispute with William over a car.” TMZ has also compiled a time line. A Chicago police department spokeswoman said investigators are talking to “a number of people in custody.” She didn’t explain further.
- Julia’s MySpace. William Balfour’s MySpace Jason’s MySpace.
- POPeater posted several news reports from You Tube that include a statement from the pastor of Jennifer’s church.
- Jennifer’s fellow Season 3 contestants made statements to the press.
- William Balfour’s mom swears he’s innocent.

I still can’t believe this happened.
Neither can I Gwen. I feel shell shocked- I really do.
That’s horrifying. How awful. Poor, sweet Jennifer. What a senseless thing to have to endure.
I hope they find the boy soon and unharmed.

As of 2:14 pm Central time (almost two hours ago), the nephew was still missing and the FBI had been called in, according to the Chicago Tribune. There was supposed to be a family press conference (or plea to return the boy) at 3 Central time, plus they were asking people to get together to search, also at 3. That’s the last info I could find.

Me too Gwen. I’m still trying to process it all. Life can really be very scary sometimes.
Unless I missed something, has it been said where her sister is? Did she ever turn up?
The sister was the one who found the mom’s body. So she’s been there the whole time, but presumably under wraps, either with the police (to try to find her son) or with relatives, because they’re all grieving. I can’t even imagine what the sisters are going through. I hope they have some support from aunts, uncles, cousins, friends — somebody.
Poor jennifer and her family,I cannot imagine the pain right now, senseless acts of violence. I just hope that the little boy is found soon, unharmed and back in the arms of the people that love him…

They have not found him yet. The sister made a plea for his safe return at their church. They can’t really even begin to start grieving for the victims until Julian’s return. It’s just an awful situation.

I posted a link to the entire press conference above in the post. It went on for awhile. No questions about William Balfour or Jennifer Hudson were allowed, although Julia did say that Jennifer came right back and has been by her side since. They’ve been praying together.
That was the boy’s father standing next to her.
This is such a sad situation. I pray that Julian will be found alive; however, he is a witness to the murder(s). He must be frightened and wanting to come home.
Something is bothering me. A neighbor was interviewed and said he heard shots early in the morning but didn’t call the police because they hear that a lot in the neighborhood. It frightens me that young children would be raised in that environment. I am not sure if living in a safer environment would have prevented this tragedy, but I would have insisted my Mom move into a new home.
It is possible Jennifer had no control over where her family lived, but it is sad. Am I wrong?

Regardless where the family lived, if someone shoots through a door, there’s not much anyone can do. The person is a mad man. Prayers continue for Jennifer, Julia, and family. Overcoming the death of three family members in such a horrific way will be most difficult. Such sadness…
