Josiah Leming – Angels Undercover – Official Video

The new video for “Angels Undercover”, the title track from Josiah Leming’s new EP has been released. Check it out after the jump.

I know this video will bother some folks who feel he’s using his family’s troubles to further his career, but the song is highly personal and I think the images fit. All I know, is that this beautiful, haunting song gives me chills every time I listen to it.

Yeah, the song is about his family and his mother. So it makes sense to feature his family and his mother in the video.

Although I’m not sure if I knew nothing about Josiah and his story and stumbled upon the video that I would get the significance of it.

  • J:

Just beautiful! For some reason he reminds me of Elton John style wise. I’m sure that he has a nice career in his future and that AI will be very sorry they missed out.

    I agree with u, MJ,

but the song is highly personal and I think the images fit.

I watched this video last night. It gave me chills. “Angels Undercover” is a deeply personal song for Josiah and I feel the family pictures further enhance the song.
I’m in agreement with you,MJ. This is a beautiful and haunting song. I wish Josiah nothing but the best and hope he has a long successful career.

I can’t see the video and I haven’t listened ot the song, but he cut his hair! Wow! He looks very young in that picture!!

  • CRB:

The fake accent is still a bit off putting but it is pretty damn good. Do people want to be haunted though?

  • hypertwink:

OMG he’s still British? Like the song, still don’t like him.

  • AZIdolFan:

i like the lyrics and the melody of the song. i just don’t like his voice. i think he should be one of those songwriters that don’t sing.

  • dtrow:

I think it is quite beautiful…and the video is touching. It seems to be celebrating his mother’s life. I find the sentiment as genuine as DC’s Permanent. Not something I want to listen to everyday or on the way to work or a party. But comforting in times of sorrow.

Interesting that everyone says how original he is and talented. I agree, but if he had participated in the show someone would have called him a EJ imitator, fake, etc.

  • chewsday:

I agree about his voice. The accent doesn’t bother me, but his voice just doesn’t seem to record well. It is, however, hardly the worst voice in the pop world today. (James Blount, anyone?) I do think he has some songwriting talent. It’ll be interesting to see how it developes as he matures.

i like the lyrics and the melody of the song. i just donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t like his voice. i think he should be one of those songwriters that donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t sing.

100% totally agree with this. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me and WTF with the accent?

  • erennick:

I actually don’t hear the accent. Never did. And as far as voices go, I happen to like his (because his emotion is so evident), but understand that others do not.

Love this song! I hope he does well (enough).

  • smartcookie:

It’s weird, because I don’t really hear the accent. He most reminds me of Randy Newman, except not the silly Randy Newman, the Louisiana 1927 Randy Newman. Josiah has a long way to go before he’s in that class, of course, but I do think there’s a lot of potential there.

I want to keep an eye on this guy. I kinda like his voice – it’s distinct anyway. I like his vulnerability. He may prove to be more songwriter than singer, longer term.

  • davidlove:

I like Josiah’s voice. It has emotion and unusual texture. Unlike Blunt, he sings on key. However, I, too, wish he’d lose the wierd accent.

  • luckeee55:

Didn’t really know who he was because I don’t usually watch Idol much until the top 12 start to perform. This song is incredible and I can hear his heart breaking when he sings it. However, his voice does absolutley nothing for me. I don’t want to come off as unsympathetic, but the video is total self indulgence. That being said, he absolutely has talent, especially as a songwriter if his other stuff is like this. I will check him out just to see what else he has written and I wish him well.

  • Soapbox0916:

I love his voice and his passion brings out some beautiful tones at times. I am not convinced there is such a thing as a universal voice that everyone can love anyway. A lot of voices that others love are like lukewarm water and very bland. I will take character any day in a voice. As for accent, there a lot of british rockers that have fake american accents and luckily they are appreciated for their talent instead. Plus, all of the fake country accents out there that don’t seem to hurt sales. Also, I know the area of Tennessee that he is from, and there is still a holdover of a quasi british accent left in the area. As a kid, I wound mistake natives of that area for brits sometimes. Now, it is more like the rest of the state, but still a weird mix sometimes. Singing brit style is probably an easier slide for him than most of the nation.

  • I can not listen to this song without tearing up. With all the over-produced music current on the radio, this song speaks to me in the most profound way.
