Josiah Leming Recording his Debut in London, to be Released this Fall

Josiah Leming

Add Josiah Leming to the the list of Season 7 Idols who will be releasing a record this fall…

From a Warner Brothers press release:

Tennessee-born singer and songwriter Josiah Leming has signed a publishing and recording deal with Warner Bros. Records. The 19-year-old newcomer is currently in London with producer/musician David Kosten (Bat For Lashes, Faultline) recording tracks for his debut album, which Warner Bros. Records will release this fall.

“Josiah’s talent as a lyricist is one of the main reasons I signed him,” says Warner Bros. Records’ Senior Vice President of A&R Perry Watts-Russell. “All of his emotions go into his songs. He has an extraordinary gift for turning his experiences into art.”

“No matter what I have gone through, I have the same feelings every kid has,” Leming says. “And I think I can put those feelings in such a way that they connect with people and help them get through their hard times. If my music can give others something they can express their emotions through, that’s the whole point.”

Josiah is indeed a gifted songwriter. I’m really looking forward to his album this fall.

A boy in his car with a clear vision of what he wanted to say through his music. What an opportunity!!! Josiah, I’ll be listening.

I so hope he’s the biggest thing in modern music since Bob Dylan!!! Eat your hearts out Idol powers that be who didn’t think he was “right” for Idol! Yeah, baby. I’ll buy his CD just to add one more sale to the total!

Of course, that’s just a fantasy. Still, wouldn’t that be something.

I am very glad he wasn’t right for Idol, foxy. I’m dancing to the thought he didn’t have to compromise or postpone his vision while The Others decided what he should sound like.

LOL Lu. I know you don’t care for the guy. Who knows? I may not like his finished product but I am extremely curious to hear it.

He is gifted, no doubt. I am intrigued by the announcement that he is working with David Kosten in the UK. It seems like an odd match. I am more curious than ever now.

Josiah lost my respect the moment he opened his mouth and started rubbishing AI as just a glorified karaoke contest. He owed everything to the exposure he got from AI, that little ingrate.

And then he had the nerve to try to get into AI finale party, and was refused entry -

Anyone who thinks that Josiah Leming can sing must have missed his performance of Yellow Brick Road. That must have been the worst performance I have ever seen by anyone who claimed to be a musician -

I think he’s very talented..but has a lot of growing up to do. Is more immature than some younger than he is, but hope he can do well.

Josiah looks different. Good luck and may you have a successful career!

I loved Josiah when he was on A.I. and was very sad when he got cut. I think he is a great musician and songwriter. I agree that he has a lot of growing up to do, but I believe he has a lot of potential. All artists can have off performances at one time or another. They are just human. What a magical opportunity for him to make this album.

I don’t remember hearing Josiah rubbishing AI and I don’t put much truth or value into what is reported on TMZ. I watched that video clip and it didn’t look like anything bad to me. He was just trying to get into the party. He wasn’t rude or anything and seemed polite to the paparazzi.

As talented as he is, he isn’t really right for Idol. He would’ve been a very inconsistent performer as evidenced by Hollywood week. One week, he would be fantastic. Next week he could be a train wreck if he doesn’t find a song that fits him in the given theme. I doubt he’s the type who could adjust and compromise given the time pressure.

Idol did what was best for him: Gave him plenty of screen time. Cut him before he becomes a bigger train wreck during the competition. It benefitted him well.
