Julianne Hough Blogs – Prepares for Surgery

In her blog for fancast.com, Dancing with the Stars pro Julianne Hough says her upcoming surgery will keep her off the dance floor for two weeks. Julianne’s partner, Cody Linley tells US magazine that he’s bummed Julianne is gone, but I’m sure he’ll be in good hands with Julianne’s replacement, Edyta Sliwinska.

That endometriosis is nasty stuff. Get well soon, Julianne…

From Julieanne’s blog:

Well, as of yesterday, the news is out there. Here’s the latest. Later today Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m meeting with my doctor, getting the rundown of the procedure. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to go through everything about the surgery. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not worried. I’m feeling good.

Actually what happened is last week was more than just a tummy ache. Obviously. It turned out I ruptured a cyst that was on my ovary. I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢tà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ know but I have endometriosis. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve apparently had it for a long time because Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve had this pain for about the last five years. It hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t been as bad. Up till last week, I let it go and I was always too busy to get it checked out. But because it happened when I was on set, they made me go to the doctor.

They want to clean out the cysts and take out my appendix, too, because later on it can be affected by the cysts. Endometriosis is a common thing for women. I was like à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“thanks mom for giving me my great life à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ and endometriosis.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ I said that jokingly. My sister who has five children is going in for the same surgery in a couple weeks.

Last week my management and the other people around me were trying to think of something else I could say that was wrong with me, but I was like, donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t worry. I want to be a good role model. I want to be honest. Maybe some girl out there wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wait too long like I did. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m just glad Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m taking care of it now because I want to have babies some day. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t want to jeopardize my health.

Theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re doing it laparoscopically through my belly button so I wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have a scar. My mom had it done a few years ago and she doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have a scar. With my mom and my sister having endometriosis, you can see genetics plays a big part. I guess my brother Derek is the only sibling in the family who doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t have to worry about having his ovaries checked.

They say its three or four days of recovery. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m thinking more like a week. Then I’ll be able to work with Cody. But I wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be dancing for two weeks.

Hope her surgery goes as smoothly as she thinkks its going to. I’m going to miss her partnering with Cody.

I hope Julianne has a speedy recovery! She’s my favorite pro and I will miss seeing her next week. Although, I’m sure Cody will be in great hands with Edyta. She’s fabulous.

I really hope Julianne will be O.K. and recuperate quickly. I am really excited to have Edyta back in the competition though. Julianne is so “all-American” that she matches up with Cody. I think it’s going to be very…interesting to match up the slinky Mrs. Maslow with the Disney prodigy Cody. Anyone remember how “wrong” it looked to have Monique dance with Louie? Heh….evil grin in place and ready.
