Katharine McPhee’s new movie The House Bunny opens this Friday. The official video for the movie has been released to You Tube. It features Katharine and the girls butchering singing, rapping, or WHATEVER, a cover of the classic 80’s cult hit “I Know What Boys Like”.
The video is the typical advertisement/movie video, featured clips from the film interspersed with video of the girls singing. In other words, lameness ensues.
Check it out after the JUMP…

Yeah, I just commented on this in the headlines thread. Yikes. I think the less said the better on this one.
My eyes! My ears! Ahhhh!!!
Make it go away.
You had it right the first time, mj - butchering.
I think I’ll pass, but thanks for posting it :)
No, PheePhee.
That is all.
Ugh — won’t waste my money on that one.
Where mah zadies at?
I can’t even make out the words there. *shutters*
Just from that picture alone, there is no way that I’ll even play that. This seems so 13.
Movies are so stupid these days.
It’s like anti-advertising for the movie, isn’t it? Weird. Oh well, it’s always fun to watch Katpee dance.
There’s plenty of AI alumni that are easy to snark on, but McPhee is the only one that I found completely unlikable.
I don’t even fell the need to duck on that comment.
What? So will I be the only one watching this movie when it comes out? LOL
I can’t quite make it out either - but house sign indicates that these particular girls are members of the Zeta sorority - so maybe that’s what they’re saying?
I have to say that Kat’s hair looks fab in that video. The song however is perfectly awful, and that movie looks lame. I was really fond of lame girly movies in high school, or maybe it was middle school? So, I imagine some people will see it.
You folks are too funny. As long as the 20 or so Kat haters on this site continue to post about her I know she is doing just fine! You take this video and your dislike of Kat way too seriously. Its silly, fun and fits the movie. that’s all. It’s nothing more than that.
As long as you continue to hate she will be fine, if you are ever indifferent to her than she should be concerned.
BTW I’ll be in line at midnight tomorrow for the first showing of what looks like a very fun film!
LOL. Uh… ok.
But just for the record, I don’t “hate” Katherine. I think she’s a pretty girl with a beautiful voice, and she’s done a good job of keeping her name out there in the biz. She’s managing to have a career, so good for her.
That said… the song sucks, the video sucks even harder, and if “fun” was what they were aiming for, they failed miserably. IMO. Big difference between “silly” and “vapid”. They are not coming across like they are at all in on the joke.
That said, if she ever gets around to recording some more adult sounding pop stuff like she was talking bout at one time, I’d buy it. Or, if she turns out to have some acting and/or comedic chops, I’d go see her movie.
But this song? It.Still.Sucks.
I take neither this video nor Kat seriously. I certainly don’t care enough about her to hate her. In fact, I’m already done thinking about her.
As long as Kat is keeping busy and creating some buzz around her, she will be just fine :) At least she is keeping busy unlike others.
Agreed. For people who don’t care this site seems to post an awful lot about Katharine.
BTW IMO the song sucked back when the Waitresses did it in the first place. It was one of those stupid songs that becomes a hit nearly by accident.
Of all of the newer stuff she has done this year, this is my least favorite but I do find the video fun and appropriate for the movie. This is not indicative of any style she will do on her CD out next spring but just a silly song for a movie.
Well, the original was a cult classic, sung in a kind of detached, whiny style on purpose. It’s meant to be ironic. The whole purpose was to make fun of chicks like, say, Paris Hilton who really think like that.
Which is why the remake sucks IMO, because they don’t seem to get any of that. She’s singing it straight, and Anna Farris is rapping like she’s not terrible. How can you do something like that with a straight face?
This site posts about all the idols, past and present, no matter what they do. Scroll down a little and you’ll see posts about John Peter Lewis, Brandon Rodgers, etc etc.
I certainly hope so, for all our sakes. LOL.
EEP peeps. You’ve engaged a poster whose post I would have deleted if I’d seen it right away. Now there are too many to delete.
I have to admit though, your responses are pretty funny, and right-on ;).
As long as the 20 or so Kat haters on this site continue to post about her I know she is doing just fine! You take this video and your dislike of Kat way too seriously.
The whole “haters” deal is so silly, it’s not even worth discussing. I’m ready to ban that word again. I consider a discussion of “hating” and “haters” off topic for this post.
Let’s get back to discussing Katharine’s crappy video. Thank you.

Next cd, did she ever release a cd. I must have missed it. Now that’s indifference. LOL! I must say she is the first second place finisher that I didn’t purchase ANYTHING from. Hate, no, indifference yes. Why am I here? I am an american idol tard, lol.
Oh MJ, I’m sorry! I will not feed the trolls any more.
No apology necessary. It’s all good.
Well back on topic. I really hope they play the entire video in the film. I think it will be a great closing for the movie. Any word on the video being available on iTunes?
sorry for going OT
Kat’s video = crap
One thing about projects like this. Kat is doing her first major studio film. That is an amazing accomplishment for any Idol. No matter what some may think of this song/video it really doesn’t matter much. The film seems headed to do pretty well at the box office and that is all that matters.
Just like the Barbie song/video, Elliott did a Disney song. They are done for exposure and to be honest for money. They are all artists trying to make their way in this business. And the very fact we are discussing her is a tribute to her and her management team keeping her in the public eye, unlike some others.
And no matter what, THB and this video are light years better than From Justin to Kelly and she survived that pretty well.
Kat will do just fine with this, the film, her next film and her next CD. Her fifteen minutes are far from over no matter what some have predicted.
I really am one of the many people in the world who is indifferent to McPhee - I came to this thread to read the great comments from brilliant MJ posters. Comparing Elliott’s beautiful song for the Disney CD to that Barbie mess is the funniest thing I heard all day. Thanks for the laugh.
