Kellie Pickler and Randy Jackson presented the Breakthrough Video of the Year award at Tuesday night’s CMT Music Awards.
Kellie was up for Female Video of the Year for “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful” and Carrie Underwood for Video of the Year for “Just a Dream”. They both lost in their categories to…Taylor Swift for “Love Story”.

Wow…but how often do they have awards for country music?…….seems like they do it pretty regularly its confusing already…………
@RV65: These are the CMT awards, kinda like the Country MTV awards. They only reward videos. There also two big country music award shows: The CMA (Country Music Academy) awards and the ACM (Academy of Country Music) awards. These last two I can’t tell apart. I think they’re two different bodies; they end up rewarding the same.
I can see Michael Sarver up on that stage with a song called “Chicken Fried”.

Here’s the difference between ACM and CMA. I’ve always been confused by those two, but never cared enough to look it up.
I watched this show last night and talk about mix issues. Wow! Kellie is not my favorite but she did look great!
I guess I’m in the minority thinking Kellie looks terrible in that dress and her hair looks a mess! She looked much better when she performed last night.

It’s not shocking when Carrie lost to Taylor when it comes to fan-voted awards, she’s lost to Taylor several times already. Besides, it’s only CMT, not the ACM or CMA (and Carrie wasn’t even there last night). It’d be more shocking if Carrie loses to Taylor for Female Vocalist of the Year for ACM, CMA or Grammy.
Kellie must have switched bras….her bezoobas don’t look half bad in that dress she wore while singing.
I saw Kellie on the red carpet wearing that same dress she has on with Randy and I could SWEAR I could see her lil’ black bikini underwears through it! :shock_tb: But she looked great – I love the messy hair and the no make-up look. Being the Idol wh*re I am, I’m proud of almost all past idols when they show up in the news. It feels like my children going out into the world doing good.

Nope. Carrie didn’t win anything at the CMTs last year either. This year she told her fans in advance that she would be celebrating her mom’s birthday so she wouldn’t be at the CMT Awards. She also said her fans deserved a break from voting.
That being said even if Carrie had been there and had asked for votes, Taylor Swift would’ve gotten more. Taylor’s been near relentless pushing for votes on Twitter, Myspace, etc., and she’s more popular now anyway.
That’s a rough vocal from Kellie. I wish she would perform this song in something comfortable for once because she’s looked stiff every time I’ve seen her sing it, and this isn’t the song to look stiff on. IMO Kellie should be singing more country stuff not pop-rock knockoffs of Last Christmas too. I know Taylor Swift’s the biggest thing in music now but that doesn’t mean Kellie should sacrifice her uniqueness to be like her. JMO.

Carrie may be down, but she’s not defeated. True vocal talent will win out in the end. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Carrie has already proven herself more than worthy competition to Miss Swift. Good luck to the both of them.
“Chicken Fried” is one of the songs that makes me love country music. Kellie’s hair and outfits looked great, and I loved her performance.
As far as country awards shows go, there are the two traditional awards shows, representing two organizations. They don’t always honor the same people, but there can be some overlap, as any reasonable person would expect.
And as long as the ratings are good, I’m sure the two will be around for a while. I’m pretty certain the shows will outlive this blog, “American Idol,” and the careers of most of AI’s alums. I don’t mean that as insult; just an opinion.
CMT is the country equivalent of MTV, and thus their music awards are the country equivalent of MTV’s awards. They give the fans a chance to vote, and limit the choices to videos. So they separate themselves nicely from the other two.
