I put together a little montage of Kellie Pickler moments from the prime time hour of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. She was the show’s “roving correspondent” for the evening, interviewing regular peeps celebrating in Times Square.
Cute as a button, and a total natural at this stuff, I predict a talk show, or regular hosting gig in Kellie’s future.
Check it out here:
FYI: New Year’s Rockin’ Eve won the New Year’s Eve ratings race with an 8.5 rating, but is losing audience vs. New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly. Daly only posted a 5.0, but increased its audience from last year.
FOX’s New Years Eve Live? The Hollywood Reporter article didn’t go there. I’m assuming epic fail. Heh.
Speaking of which, I didn’t record an hour of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, before and after midnight because I recorded the wretched FOX special to grab a performance from David Cook.
But, I found a clip of Ryan Seacrest, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Swift, Demi Lavato, The Jonas Brothers and Dick Clark celebrating as the ball dropped on Times Square.
Dick Clark. Oh dear. What a trouper for continuing on after his debilitating stroke in 2005, but I really think it’s time to hand the show over completely to Ryan.
Video after the JUMP…

I thought Kelly did a great job. I love her as an announcer. She is a natural. I could see her doing a show like idol or SYTYCD. I wasn’t a big fan of hers on idol, but I have now become one.
I agree about Dick Clark, but I guess I feel like it is his show, and as long as he still wants to come back and do it, I support him. He gave us sooooo many years of enjoyment, it would be a shame if he got the boot if he didn’t want to leave.
I secretly love Kellie (well I guess it’s not so much a secret anymore) and her first album is such a guilty pleasure for me. I’m not so fond of her 2nd album though. I agree she can have a career in hosting if ever her singing career doesn’t sustain.
I expect we will be seeing Ryan and Kelly anchoring this show for years to come. They are both naturals and Kelly is such a breath of fresh air.
I have mixed feelings about Dick Clark. I think that he is an ispiration to those who have overcome neurological difficulties (I am one having survived an aneurysm), so is it just his physical impediment that is the issue? On the other hand TV is a visual medium, and maybe New Years Eve isn’t the forum for him anymore. I prefer his show to any others though. I’ve been watching forever.
I really like Kellie’s personality and her music. She’s one “idol” that I am happy to support in any of her ventures.
Having had a stroke, albeit a less serious one than Dick Clark’s, I completely support him. All I can think is “There but for the grace of God….”. What he has overcome stuns me and I find it amazing that he even wants to continue doing this show. But it seemed to me that he was enjoying himself Thursday, so more power to him!
I totally agree. Kellie should be a permanent fixture there, and it is sad to see what has happened with Dick Clark. He just isn’t the same since he had the stroke…I used to watch New Year’s Eve just for him, but I do think the time has come for him to hand things over. But it is his show after all, and he has been there for 35 years. Maybe he should be there in a non-speaking role? His name always has to be there, even after he passes away.
I wish Kellie were much younger because we’d have to pair her with David Archuleta. Both are beautiful, talented….and spacey. LOL Seriously though, I loved Kellie on AI and I continue to follow her career. I agree that she’s a breath of fresh air and a natural at this. Good on her!
I know Ryan often gets a bad rap, but I love him. I don’t know that I could ever see anyone else replacing him on Idol. He connects easily with the contestants and he is pretty quick to turn around those awkward and unpredictable moments.
Give that woman a talk show or some type of tv show….what’s her management doing?
Thanks for making this montage for us…..I had a big smile on my face the whole time…….Kellie is such a natural and so funny. I too see some kind of tv show in her future. I think the dumb blonde thing is an act – she seems smart and hard working to me although I am sure she had alot to learn coming from her background. She seems to have surrounded herself with good people and has made good decisions and I think (and hope) she will continue to gain fans from her music and public appearances.
I thought Kellie did a good job in the short bits I watched. Count me as one who wants Dick to call it a night because I can’t watch him anymore and f/f through his bits. It’s sad what happened to him but he had so many great years and that’s how I’d rather remember him. I think Ryan does a good job with the show and hopefully will be able to do it on his own next year.
wow, I found Kellie Pickler COMPLETELY annoying. I would take a certain KC over her any day.
Better yet…..get someone on there without a high-pitched, annoying voice.
I don’t get the love for that.
MJ, agree with you completely about Dick Clark. I grew up with him and I’m sorry for his stroke………but it’s time to sign the broadcast over completely to Ryan.
I sincerely hope next year DC is invited to perform live on the show. Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers, per usual…….sucked.
Lionel Richie on the other hand….was incredible.
