This seemed better than Today, although I still think Kellie’s live renditions are much diminished from the CD version.
Well, Kellie, at least, is beautiful. ;)
All right if she can make it and Kristy Lee Cook can’t, there is something seriously, seriously wrong in the world of country music.
Kellie’s not sounding too good in the beginning of the song– both here and on the Today show. I can barely hear her until she gets to the higher notes. It makes the song sound like it doesn’t have a melody or something. I think she sounded much better live on Idol this year when she sang that Red High Heels song.
Not a general fan of country, but in terms of voices I prefer: Carrie > Kristy > Kellie, but in terms of personality: Kellie > Carrie > Kristy. YMMV– just my opinion!
ETA: Also, if you weren’t impressed by Kellie, Noctem, have you heard Taylor Swift live? I used to think country was where all the good vocalists are, but I guess that’s no longer the case. Kristy’s decent, she just needs better songs and some promotion!
Actually, I think Kristy has quite a few very good songs– her single just isn’t one of them.
I only heard Taylor Swift sing “live” one time, and that was on an episode of Nashville Star. Her performance was a mess.
A little over a week before this, Kellie had to cancel some shows on tour because of a sinus infection and laryngitis. Give the girl a break, the voice don’t get a whole lot better in that amount of time, and that being the case, I think she did alright.
