Kelly Clarkson’s new release, All I Ever Wanted is set to debut at No. 1 next week on the Billboard 200, according to Hits Daily Double.
HDD is predicting the record will sell around 210-230K, but cautions that her assorted TV appearances this week–including Good Morning America on Monday, the Wednesday American Idol results show and Saturday Night Live this weekend–could increase that number.
We’ll know more when HDD posts their revised predictions on Friday.
Kelly’s last release, 2007’s My December, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 291K, it has sold 788K in the US to date.

Great to see Kelly finally debuting at #1. This album would definitely be here for a long time.
Yay for Kelly! A lot of the songs on there have Top 40 potential, so I expect we’ll be hearing her for awhile.
only that many? i would have though many more. that makes me sad….
on a lighter note, i think her album is brilliant.
As she should!
I think her album is fantastic. I can’t stop listening to it. I think its an album well done.
I’m not surprised by her record sales, records just don’t sell like they used to anymore. It’s still quite a feat because anymore to sell that much is awesome. People just don’t sell almost a million records like some people used to.
“My Life Would Suck Without You” — That’s deep.
She’ll sell millions. :grin1_ee:
I wanted to post this link, but I didn’t know where to do so… anyway, this is a video I took of Elliott yesterday morning. He gave a mini acoustic concert yesterday here in San Diego, where he sang “Fight for Love”, “Wait for You”, and also gave us a first listen to one of the songs that will be on his new album! The song is called “Know Better”, and I really liked it!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jgHABSAkhc
Anyway, to stay on topic, Kelly is still awesome after all these years, and her new album is really growing on me.
I think she’ll trend upwards, maybe get closer to 250,000. She’s in good shape with this cd for long term sales because she’ll probably get lots of radio play for at least two more singles.
That low. :eek_wp: I thought it would be higher. Cook’s new album debuted higher than that.
Well, yes. But Cook’s album also debuted in November, when overall music sales are nearing their peak in advance of holiday shopping. Don’t get me wrong – Cook’s debut-week sales were tremendous. But for a Q1 release in the midst of a sharply declining industry and the worst economic crisis in 70 years, Kelly’s predicted sales are pretty impressive.
Agreed. I’m pretty sure that if she released her album around Q4, she’ll easily pull in 350K or possibly even more. Fourth quarter sales are very misleading.
Yes, that. And, I suspect that Kelly will have a few radio hits. So, like Niall, I think Kelly’s in a good position for long-term success with this release.
I don’t feel a need to defend that number. It’s where I expected it actually. I will never expect to see Kelly pull 6-800,000 numbers…not even 4-5 in the first week. I expect this to see the multi million status in the next 52 wks though.
Regarding the singles on the album:
Just. LOVE. “Already Gone”.!!!!!
I thought that it was interesting to see Kelly crawling back to AI, although I would have liked to have seen more tail between her legs. A few years ago she threw AI under the bus and didn’t want to be associated with that program. Just a year or two ago she threw her producer under the bus.
She had one or two failed CDs and now is embracing AI and their ability to send traffic her way.
What a hypocrite.
I have no respect for her anymore and she was my favorite until Carrie sang “Until He Cheats”.
I do feel bad for her on a personal level because she is in the public eye. And being a female, especially, in the public eye one is expected to be attractive. I thought she looked “plump” last night and since she must have know way ahead of time that she was going to be in the show (and should have had time to lose weight) she must be well on her way to a lifelong battle of the bulge. I suffer from that too but I’m not a woman or a celebrity so I have no idea what she must be going through.
Godspeed, Kelly.
:wacko_tb:
On the other hand, if Kelly hadn’t turned out to be a star (which you have to give her at least *some* credit for, right) would American Idol have lived to its 8th season?
Great for Kelly! I tried to buy her album off iTunes several times Wednesday night after her performance, but it had trouble connecting or something. I’m going to try again tonight.
FWIW, I don’t see that Kelly had “one or two failed CDs” but then again, I’ve not always followed AI or her. But, I do own Breakaway (as does everyone else apparently lol) and My December, with the latter being my favorite of the two by a long country mile.
Different strokes and all…
