Kelly Clarkson at the Orpheum in Boston

I saw Kelly Clarkson at the Orpheum theater last night. I got tons of pictures, and managed to sneak a few videos. Heh. I’ll have more on the concert later, but for now…

Here is Kelly’s incredible cover of Patty Griffin’s “Up to the Mountain”:

And, “Chivas” from her latest album, “My December” Sorry for the crappy camera work, I really had to sneak these….

Up to the Mountain is incredible. Kelly took ‘em to church. I likey! Chivas is a great song. I can totally identify with that song, and the crowd was with her all the way. She has come a long way with her stage presence. She is the total package. That voice alone sets her apart. Thanks for sharing MJ!

Most anyone knows that Patty Griffin is one of my absolute favs and her rendition of this song is truly amazing but Kelly’s take on the song is very soulful. Id hate to have to choose which I liked better, the song is so moving that its beautiful either way. Awesome.

Kelly is one of the most gifted singers I have ever heard. Ever.

When I heard this song on AI, I decided it WOULD be performed at my funeral–along with Kenny Loggins Celebrate Me Home.

Smiles at Crissey, I would love to see her live and Taylor as well but the older I get the less I tolerate a room full of people. I cant even stand my own family these days.

    Yes, her voice “sends” me.

Wow. “Up to the Mountain” still gives me chills. She sounds incredible. Her voice is just top notch, especially there. Seriously, that song alone is why I’m still desperately trying to find tickets to the sold out show in Clearwater.

    Thanks for the videos MJ!!

Sarah–have you tried StubHub??? I ONLY buy premium tickets. I grew up on concerts (I am old) and if I can’t see the nose hairs, I don’t want to go! No matter what you have to pay, trust me, Kelly Clarkson is worth it!

DINGO–screw your personality defects. Get your ASS to a Kelly concert NOW! I promise you you won’t regret it, it will stay with you for a long time and bring unbelieveable joy!

I know I have told this story ad nauseum but…I bought a $350 for the front row at her last concert tour. My daughter insisted I could not drive the hour and a half by myself. I told her I was old, not ancient! Realizing she would go with me, I quick called to see if I could get another ticket beside me. I could. Then I asked my daughter if I had just been taken for $700–LOL!

I thought she was a big fan and just wanted a free ticket. Well, she really had no CLUE about Kelly. Knew some of her songs but was not “in love”. After about 3 songs, I turned to ask her how she liked her and her eyes were as big and round as the damn moon! She said, “Oh Mom!!! She’s AWESOME!! She is such a rock star”! After that night, this special daughter and I have a solid bond and will share this happening every time we get a chance to see Kelly! My daughter said: I love her and I want to be her when I grow up! (She is 26 years old and reminds me so much of Kelly in looks and behavior.)

If you want Dingo, come join us in Atlanta. We promise you’ll have a ball! Just do it damnit!!

(And Taylor in person just takes your breath away!!!)

Bwahahahahahaha! Now that was funny. Listen, I got issues ya hear?

Meet you in Atlanta? Are you high? I couldnt even make it to the Boston one. The weather was crappy but I got a feeling I might have made excuses even if it werent. I hate travel.

I KNOW Id have a ball wherever I went (afterall, I am the life of the party remember?) but getting there is the thing. Thanks for the invite though.

WHY WHY WHY can’t people wait until AFTER the damn songs to scream and holler their I LOVE YOU bullshit.

You’d think as many concerts as I go to I would get used to that..but I can’t.

Glad you had a good time MJ :)

DINGOOOOOOOOOOOOO–don’t you know how many GREAT concerts there are in Boston??? OMG! Isn’t it Boston that has the love affair with the Allman Brothers?

Go get therapy…medication…whatever it takes and do yourself a favor. The memories are wonderful and the LIVE concerts indescribable. GO!!!

I love Patty Griffin and in particular this song, but Kelly did it justice - big time! Awesome video sneakage, MJ! You rule as usual. :biggrin_wp:

    Wow, Kelly!

I hope she comes by my side of the world sometime soon.

Chris - I actually haven’t looked at stubhub yet. I’m planning on waiting til probably the week of to get tix… I know ticketmaster then starts releasing other tickets. So hopefully I’ll be able to get one then.

My best friend and I did get the chance to see her in 2005 at the Mud Island ampitheatre in Memphis. She was incredible… that was the tour when she was doing “Beautiful Disaster” a capella… it was a hot, muggy August Memphis night, but I swear, I got chills when she sang that. It was gorgeous.

PS - I’m your daughter’s age, and I love Kelly that much too. Tell your daughter she has great taste. :)

MJ - thanks for sneaking the videos! I would love to see Kelly live - her voice is INCREDIBLE - just wish she would come my way.
I like alot of the past idols, but I think Taylor, Bo and Kelly are my top 3.

SARAH–for me, Kelly is the kind of artist who must be heard live to get all she has to offer! My daughter and I are really close but our lives are consumed with her business (dance school) and her MS diagnosis. (She did an alternative treatment last summer and her MS has completely stopped. Don’t know if you caught this a few months ago at this blog.) We never do anything that is “just fun”. The Kelly concert was just that…no business, just pure joy! And it has created a “forever” bond for all of her future appearances for my daughter and me. Neat I think.

I am sure you will end up getting a ticket. Stubhub will usually lower their prices dramatically if there are any left right before the concert so I would at least check it out. Good luck!
