Kelly Clarkson Shares Lyrics to “My Life Would Suck Without You”

UPDATE 2: The name of Kelly’s album, according to her publicist, is NOT Masquerade.  More details will be forthcoming…

UPDATE:  This blog is reporting that the album title is All I Ever Wanted rather than Masquerade, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.  A few Katy Perry tunes are rumored to be on the album, including one called “Long Shot”.  Also, rumor has it that the Daughtry duet is on, and it’s called “Temporary.”  Check out the lyrics to the title track in comments HERE.  All rumors, kids. More will be revealed very soon, I’m sure…

Curiosity peaked when the cover of Kelly Clarkson’s new single, “My Life Would Suck Without You” hit the net.

Now we have one more piece of the puzzle. Song lyrics have been leaked to AOL’s PopEater blog, and you can check them out after the jump.

The song is written by hitmakers Max Martin and Dr. Luke–they also  produced the track–and Claude Kelly.

“My Life Would Suck Without You” is the first single off of Kelly’s upcoming album, Masquerade. The record is due on March 17 (Although Z100 seems to think it’s March 24).

The jist of the message is the standard pop theme–”can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em.”

What do you think of the lyrics?

‘My Life Would Suck Without You’

Guess this means you’re sorry
You’re standing at my door
Guess this means you take back
What you said before
Like how much you wanted
Anyone but me
Said you’d never come back
But here you are again

Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

Maybe I was stupid for telling you goodbye
Maybe I was wrong for tryin’ to pick a fight
I know that I’ve got issues
But you’re pretty messed up too
Anyway, I found out I’m nothing without you

Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

Being with you is so dysfunctional
I really shouldn’t miss you, but I can’t let go
Oh yeah

Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

Odd, very odd. Kind of sounds like an abusive relationship but heh that’s just me.

No, that’s what it sounds like to me too hicksaholic. Or about Clive Davis. I guess thats the same thing though. Heh.

    According to this site the:

Popjustice seems to think the album is called All I Ever Wanted.

    Nothing has been confirmed yet.

Lyrics for All I Ever Wanted

    Tear up the photographs
    But yesterday won’t let go
Every day every day every minute
    Here comes the emptiness
Just can’t be lonely you know
Every day every day hey hey
This second-chancin’s really getting me down
You give and takin’ everything I dreamed about
It’s time you let me know let me know just let go

    [Chorus]

All I ever wanted all I ever wanted
was a simple way to get over you,
all I ever wanted all I ever wanted
was an in-between to escape this desperate scene,
where every law reveals the truth,
baby cause I all ever wanted, all I ever wanted was you

    I’d rather walk alone
    Don’t wanna chase you around
Every day every day every minute I thought a thousand times
For I let you drag me down
Every day every day hey hey
Your new beginning was a perfect ending
But I keep feeling we’ve already been here before
It’s time you let me know let me know just let go

    [Chorus]

Tell me with so many out there
Why I always turn to you
Your goodbyes tear me down every time
And it’s so easy to see that they’ll blame this on me

    [Chorus]

So much for Miss Independent! Instead, I hear a sorry state of dysfunction and a tangled connection to one who doesn’t respect her. Looks alot like crawling back to TPTB that done you wrong - and making her pay for it on top of it with that cover. Oy.

I am telling you that cover is ridiculous. I have seen major photoshopping but this looks like a face transplant(and I think Kellie looked just fine before)

Depends on how she sings it, imo. But it could go in that direction.

I wouldn’t factor in the single cover too much. That’s just to get attention. And it worked.

Okay, that seems to throw my “ironic” theory out the window…

  8. 8 Jolene Jan 5th, 2009 at 1:49 pm

    Do. Not. Like.

This is only the 2nd time in my life that I read the lyrics to a song before hearing it. The first time was Light On, which I didn’t like upon first read either. Maybe I should just learn to wait for the song.

It’s just… very simplistic, very uncomplicated, and I don’t like the message at all.
Hopefully hearing it makes me do a 180.

I think these sound pretty typical for Kelly, a lot like Since U Been Gone and Never Again. I had Never Again playing in my head while I was reading them so my take on the direction is that it’ll be like rock/pop but it could be a whole different thing if it turns out to be a ballad….hmmmm….. my curiousity is peaked!

  10. 10 Niall Jan 5th, 2009 at 1:53 pm

It’s not as if Kelly has never before sung a song about dysfunctional love. MLWSWY and all it’s horrible, horrible sociological implications won’t bring about the end of modern civilization but it should be a fun radio song.

  11. 11 bjames Jan 5th, 2009 at 2:03 pm

.it’s weird reading those lyrics for the first time, knowing full well in a matter of weeks i will be singing them at the top of my lungs as i drive around town. haha

(and most of you will be, too! don’t deny it!)

  12. 12 Michelle Jan 5th, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Yep, it seems every other single from Kelly is about being pissed at some boy ;) I’m sure it’ll be catchy as hell and I’ll love it.

  13. 13 GwendolynD Jan 5th, 2009 at 2:30 pm

Sounds like a Mariah marriage - “Always Be My Baby” and “We Belong Together.”

I’m reeeeeeeaaaaaaallllllllly excited to see what Kelly does with these lyrics.

  14. 14 calimari Jan 5th, 2009 at 2:44 pm

I think the photo of the girl on the cover is very pretty. I wonder who she is….

  15. 15 SashaB Jan 5th, 2009 at 2:54 pm

She’s had some really tough breakups in her short life. But great fodder for her songs. I can’t wait. Am still loving My December though - doesn’t get old. Love Irvine. But it’ll be so good to hear new Kelly music.

  16. 16 Lisa Jan 5th, 2009 at 2:59 pm

The lyrics aren’t real catchy but want to see what Kelly does with it. Dysfunctional pretty much describes this. I would have loved at little more angst. The lyrics seem a bit simple with almost no depth.

It seem’s totally the opposite of say, “You Oughta Know” (Jagged Little Pill). (Uninvited from her Alanis Unplugged, was one of my fave songs). I guess it would be too much to hope for something along those lines with Kelly’s new album. More pop. *Sigh* Kelly has it in her too to lay it all out. I’m hoping she can do something with those lyrics.

  17. 17 Niall Jan 5th, 2009 at 3:18 pm

Unfortunately when Kelly went for angst on My December she displeased that old fart Clive Davis and he made sure the rug got pulled out from underneath her. There was no way this cd was going to be anything other than catchy pop rock ala Breakaway and I’m totally ready for it.

  18. 18 tinawina Jan 5th, 2009 at 3:26 pm

I think these sound pretty typical for Kelly, a lot like Since U Been Gone and Never Again.

Basically. Which is why I never really got the “Kelly’s gone angry on us!” complaints about My December, because she spent all of Breakaway playing the pissed ex-girlfriend role then too. She just did it with pop hooks that time.

The entire diss of My December was just made up bullsh^^ and too many fell for it.

Anyway I loved all of her cds. Will purchase this sight unseen, well you know what I mean, lol. As for the lyrics, some of the best songs have very uncomplicated lyrics and endure. On the other hand it’s all in the interpretation as well, so will the lyrics seem simplistic, it’s what she does with them that has always set Kelly apart.

  20. 20 Michelle Jan 5th, 2009 at 5:16 pm

LOL at “Temporary” possibly battling it out with DC’s “Permanent” in the future…

  21. 21 dv Jan 5th, 2009 at 5:49 pm

those lyrics are really terrible but then again Since U Been Gone isn’t a master piece either. I’d rather listen to Maybe, Sober or Irvine.

  22. 22 mj Jan 5th, 2009 at 6:19 pm

I’m hearing that the name of Kelly’s album is definitely NOT Masquerade. This is from her publicist…

  23. 23 star Jan 5th, 2009 at 7:54 pm

So, I like that Katy Perry song Kelly is rumored to have recorded. It sounds godawful on Katy’s voice (this coming from someone who likes Katy), but it’s catchy and I can imagine Kelly doing something amazing with it.

  24. 24 hoodathunk Jan 5th, 2009 at 9:49 pm

I was hoping for more tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Still looking forward to hearing the music cause that’s really what counts.

  25. 25 oceana Jan 6th, 2009 at 12:01 am

I think the singing and music will help the lyrics and bring them to life. Lyrics are often pretty simple when viewed alone.

There’s a snatch of it I think and it sounds like SUBG but I’m not really sure. I was just creeped out by Clive and enchanted at the thought that when Jason Mraz grows up, he’ll probably look like Dr. Luke. :biggrin_wp:

  27. 27 elisad Jan 6th, 2009 at 3:52 am

Hee, I didn’t know Dr. Luke looked like that, he’s cute. Bill Maher? Why… Are they using this song as an example of songs with sucky lyrics can still become hits?

This is Aranda’s version of All I Ever Wanted.

  28. 28 mcm Jan 6th, 2009 at 12:44 pm

    wrong thread, sorry

  29. 29 gretac Jan 6th, 2009 at 3:33 pm

This song was written by the Oklahoma band ARANDA. Now maybe I’m biased b/c I’ve been watching them play for years, but this song is great. It’s one of my favorites off their recent album and when they said Kelly Clarkson found them on myspace and would be recording it on her next album, i thought it sounded perfect for her. Go check them and their version of this song out on their myspace page (/aranda). You wont be sorry and you’ll get a preview of Kelly’s new song. Reading the lyrics just doesn’t do it justice.

Here’s the REAL n”All i ever Wanted” lyrics. the ones above had some small but important errors.
