Folks have been raving about Kelly Clarkson’s performance of “Ave Maria” in front of Pope Benedict Saturday at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers. Her performance is stunning–beautiful and understated.

Very beautifully done by Kellie Clarkson and her outfit was classy not flashy. What an honor for her to preform in front of the Pope. Kellie has a very good voice am surprised by her range ,diversity and enjoy her spunk.
This performance was absolutely gorgeous. Stunning, beautiful, understated, all perfect words for it. What a voice!! And I agree, she looked very pretty and classy.
Loved her performance of “Up to the Mountain” too. That’s such a great song, and she sounds amazing singing it.
The video’s no longer available, but I managed to find another one on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cj6PXYp0Ds). Kelly’s voice sounds just heavenly, and she’s got an excellent range. She got a bit too vibrato for me in some areas, but overall it was pretty damn amazing.
I know some others were taken down, but the video I posted is still available. It’s from the Catholic network, EWTN, which is why the camera is fixed on Pope Benedict instead of Kelly!

This song is incredibly hard to sing- incredibly hard. Kelly sang it in a different order than I’m used to hearing and singing it in, but she did a FANTASTIC job with it. She didn’t go overboard she’s just perfection.
Stunning and perfect. It’s refreshing to hear a singer who knows when all the vocal bells and whistles are appropriate and when lovely and understated is the way to go. Bravo, Kelly.
Of all the things any IDOL has accomplished, this ranks #1. There was global telecast on Kelly’s excellent performance. People heard her sing who never would have gotten this opportunity. What an honor; Kelly should be very proud of herself!
What a lovely performance by Kelly. She has such a beautiful and emotive voice. I really enjoyed listening to her and then seeing The Pope reach his hands out to her in greeting. Very heart warming.
She sounded absolutely beautiful. As a Catholic, I grew up listening to this song. She sang with a great deal of restraint and clarity. It was reverent and prayerful. When I first heard that Kelly would do the honor, and not a more renowed Christian Catholic performer I was a bit nervous. However, she did a wonderful job. I’m sure Pope Benedict enjoyed it also.
Kelly did a lovely job. However, her stylist should not have let her wear a sleeveless dress. I know the times are more casual and relaxed and this was an open-air setting, but sleeveless is still a no-no in my etiquette book when being in the presence of the Pope, let alone performing for him.
Oh God, *counts to ten*. Kelly was amazing. She sounded beautiful, and looked quiet appropriate for the occasion. It was YOUTH DAY! She did leave her stripper pole home, so I think she was fine.
You should hear Kelly’s offering of “Oh Holy Night” on the Christmas Special after she won Idol. A cappella and absolutely “perfect pitch”. She is just so incredible! My “one big note” Kelly! (the note she carried into about a billion huge “one” notes! For those who saw Season 1, I am sure you understand what I am trying to say here!)
