From Kelly Clarkson’s website, the cover for her upcoming album.  Yes, it is called All I Ever Wanted, and you can pre-order it at Amazon here:

What do you think of the cover?  The bright colors are fun. A little kitschy, like I stepped into a split level suburban house, circa 1973.

It reminds me of the cover of a K-Tel record I had back in the day. I kinda like it.

  2. 2 Ladybug Jan 8th, 2009 at 7:57 pm

The picture certainly looks a lot more like *our* Kelly. :happy_tb:

She looks great. Hoping the album is a good one for her and for us.

  3. 3 abbysee Jan 8th, 2009 at 7:58 pm

I like it. It looks more like Kelly than the ’sucks’ single cover. I love the bright colors. I guess this is supposed to be the pogo dancing, happy Kelly cd?

Eh, I will take what the hell I can get from her at this point. She looks amazing.

  4. 4 IGetCranked Jan 8th, 2009 at 7:59 pm

Now that screams Pop. I guess the label wanted to make sure that consumers knew it wasn’t the same route her last album was. lol

    I like it though!

  5. 5 Teenytiny7 Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:00 pm

Talk about the complete opposite of her previous cover.

  6. 6 ohreli Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:06 pm

I thought it was Britney Spears!! LOL! But, yeah, I like it too!

    I looooooooooove it!

    Kelly, hurry up!!!

  9. 9 chewsday Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:22 pm

Yes, it does scream “Pop!” - but at least it looks like the real Kelly. I like it better than the single cover.

  10. 10 seattle Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:22 pm

I half-expect the cover to come with a neon yellow vinyl record inside.

  11. 11 greek90 Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:26 pm

hey, i clicked on the link and it still has amazon saying it is “New Release” and has no album art!

though I do like this cover!

  12. 12 Kirsten Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:48 pm

I think the art department at RCA has fallen in love with the Starlight Filter effect. That’s one shiny leather coat. Almost as shiny as a lollipop.

I don’t really care for the cover. I think that it looks boring and cheap. I thought her last one had more scope for the imagination. She looks great, though.

  13. 13 MagazineFreak Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:50 pm

At least I recognize her in this picture…unlike that lollipop pic.

  14. 14 hollygo9 Jan 8th, 2009 at 9:15 pm

Is it just me or does she kind of look like Anna Paquin in that picture?

  15. 15 hardkandy Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:04 pm

Well definitely a better cover than the one for the single.

  16. 16 Niall Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:05 pm

That is one awesome cover. There’s no way something that bright with Kelly front and center is going to be overlooked on store shelves.

  17. 17 GwendolynD Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:06 pm

Is it just me or does she kind of look like Anna Paquin in that picture?

There is a slight resemblance to Sookie Stackhouse there.

You can listen to a snippet of My Life Would Suck Without You here on Amazon

  19. 19 mac Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:26 pm

Just listened to the snippet. I don’t know. The first thing that came to my mind was it was a Katy Perry song and Kelly sounded like Katy Perry (like Hot N Cold). Maybe it was just the snippet. I Hope so!!! Curious what everyone else thinks. Geez, I hope I’m wrong and I just have lousy ears.

  20. 20 latingrl2005 Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:27 pm

    I love the new song……

  21. 21 Kirsten Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:31 pm

I hate listening to snippets because it’s tough to judge a song on 30 seconds, but I have to say that is one catchy snippet. I think radio is going to like this one.

  22. 22 Sarah Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:48 pm

It sounds like it’s got a good melody, and yeah, the snippet it catchy. I like, so far.

mac, I think the the music sounds a little like Hot N Cold (it has way more of an electronic feel - like Hot N Cold - than I was expecting, considering that pop justice said more like SUBG meets So What, or so I thought at least), but Kelly’s singing sounds about a million times better than Katy Perry could ever dream of sounding.

I like the cover. As others have said, at least it looks like her. And with all the color, it definitely catches the eye.

  23. 23 hoodathunk Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:51 pm

I think the cover is a little Austin Powers-ish. It’s cool. Not sure about the song. I ‘ll have to listen all the way through before I can tell. Can’t wait to hear the whole CD.

  24. 24 thesheriff Jan 8th, 2009 at 11:14 pm

Wow! After that lil snippet, I must get on the treadmill and FAST!

    I like it….but I’ll like anything the girl does…

  25. 25 bjames Jan 8th, 2009 at 11:22 pm

i’d rather say that it’s katy perry that sounds like kelly.

  26. 26 mj Jan 8th, 2009 at 11:24 pm

I posted the snip out front. I’ll judge the song when I can hear the whole thing, but yeah, it seems ready made for pop radio. And since everyone loves a good comeback, Kelly will probably do well.

  27. 27 Niall Jan 8th, 2009 at 11:29 pm

Actually I’ve thought Katy Perry and even Pink on some of her more poppish material sound like Kelly. I think the Breakaway album, especially Since U Been Gone, was very influential. Katy Perry is shiny and new but I think she’s following Kelly’s trail not the other way around.

  28. 28 Dlynne Jan 8th, 2009 at 11:30 pm

I love the cover. It screams pop.

Didn’t Katy Perry co-write one of the songs on the album? I’ll have to go look to make sure. I do like the sound of the single, even though I thought I would hate it after reading the lyrics.

  29. 29 elisad Jan 8th, 2009 at 11:37 pm

Too dance! All those bands went dance made me crazy already.(The Feeling, Keane, The Killers…) It sounds like a remix or something.

The cover, no! What’s wrong with those people…

  30. 30 movin2thabeet Jan 8th, 2009 at 11:37 pm

I’m not sure how I feel about the single based on that snippet. It did sound alot like the sound Katy Perry is doing, very electronic. I’m pretty sure I heard the use of AutoTune in it, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. Kelly has a great voice, why even go there?

  31. 31 lovegoodmusic Jan 9th, 2009 at 12:27 am

From what I heard from the snippet, I do not like the song. I rarely like POP music and this is no exception. Of course, I will give the song another listen because I like Kelly Clarkson. With that said, I am highly looking forward to hearing the Clarkson/Daughtry duet and the other hidden gems on the album.

Kelly has a beautiful voice, and does not need excessive electronic background noise to cover up bad vocals like most pop stars do.

And Kelly looks very pretty on the album cover and I wish her luck.

Does anyone know what label Kelly is on? Is she on RCA/Arista?

  32. 32 terps Jan 9th, 2009 at 12:42 am

I can already tell this song will be HUGE, mark my word!!! It is catchy, it is a good dance track.. it has everything!!

  33. 33 terps Jan 9th, 2009 at 12:49 am

The song Ryan Tedder wrote for her is If I Can’t Have You

  34. 34 primeminister Jan 9th, 2009 at 1:12 am

I wish “My Life Would Suck Without You” was more rock than electronic, but I can’t wait to hear the whole song! :)

  35. 35 danceinsidex3 Jan 9th, 2009 at 2:50 am

Based on just the snippet, I’m not really a fan of the song. After hearing the full version a few times, that could very well change, however, at the moment, I’m not crazy about it.

I think its the chorus I don’t like. The verse is fine.

  36. 36 soundscene Jan 9th, 2009 at 2:54 am

I love it! Could have done with a little less of the production to her voice, but the clip is really catchy. I’m pretty positive this will do well.

Oh, and Katy Perry wishes she had Kelly’s voice.

  37. 37 jnd1221 Jan 9th, 2009 at 6:51 am

I like the cover, it’s all shiny and happy but at least it looks like Kelly. She looks gorgeous, by the way. I wasn’t sure what to make of the song snippet (it’s so hard when they’re only 30 seconds) but after first listen the “my life (my life) would suck (would suck) without you” part is completely stuck in my head. Well done.

  38. 38 justantonio Jan 9th, 2009 at 10:59 am

the song reminds me of “feels like tonight” by Daughtry…but with a fast drum beat

  39. 39 weareallinnocent Jan 9th, 2009 at 11:40 am

Ok, well, humph. Me no likey the cover or the electified single snippet. Too poppy, bubbly, and processed for me. I’ll give it a second look-see when there’s more to see-hear.

On the positive side of the equation, this comeback rumor and album cover has me racing out the door to buy “My December.” I’d been putting it off. But, now, on principle and to make a statement — not to mention some well-written, appealing reviews and a listen to previews on Amazon — it’s time.

    :kiss_tb:

    I think I like it….

  41. 41 hardkandy Jan 9th, 2009 at 11:44 am

I think it could be a hit. It’s very Katy Perry-ish. If Katy Perry can have hits in this kind of music with that kind of voice and annoying as eff personality of hers, Kelly should have no problem.

  42. 42 Michelle Jan 9th, 2009 at 12:06 pm

Wow, talk about complete 180 from My December. I don’t really like the cover or the snippet, but covers don’t matter and I’ll wait to hear the whole song (and more material from the album.)

  43. 43 lex Jan 9th, 2009 at 12:22 pm

I know I stand in the minority here, but I am really disappointed with this direction. I am one of the few that liked My December; I thought there were a number of good, real songs on that album. At least it felt personal instead of manufactured and I admired Kelly for being bold and true to herself. Breakaway was okay, but frankly, I could never listen to the whole album all the way through–the monotony of the formulaic songs wore on my by the end. With My December, and some other performances like the unbelievable “Up to the Mountain” I had hoped she would move away from bubble-gum dance-pop. Didn’t she turn down original offers prior to AI because she didn’t want to be bubble-gum? What happened to that stance? How can this be seen as something other than selling out?

  44. 44 Danzser Jan 9th, 2009 at 3:00 pm

Lex- you do NOT stand in the minority at all! If you read most of the comments and other blogs from other sites, SADLY most people don’t like the new song. I also thought My December showed her true talent. Guess her marketing reps thought she should follow up with a Pop album so as to please her idol voters. This gives me hope that her next one will be good again though!

Darn- i hate to say it too because I love her voice!

  45. 45 Danzser Jan 9th, 2009 at 3:04 pm

By the way- that “Ballas Hough Band” link they have going is such a waste of money and online ad space! Have you all heard THEIR stuff. I’m tired of these reality show B-listers using it as a platform to think they have talent.

STICK TO YOUR DAY JOB GUYS! That is why you got noticed in the first place…

  46. 46 gingerly Jan 9th, 2009 at 3:13 pm

The snippet of the new song didn’t impress me, but then snippets never do. Lyrics rarely impress me and I’m really unconcerned about album covers. So yeah, I’ll reserve judgment until we can hear it all. I can’t (and certainly won’t) judge an entire album based on the aforementioned things. If you’re capable of that, good on you. I just can’t do it.

  47. 47 Niall Jan 9th, 2009 at 3:21 pm

Many of us loved My December and I’m pretty sure the album will be looked back on with more respect than it got when it was released. However I think the trade off in being able to do the album SHE wanted to do was that she had to do another pop album afterwards, especially when RCA helped make sure MD tanked. If All I Ever Wanted succeeds then she’ll have the clout to do another My December type cd or a more bluesy/country sounding cd. For me as long as Kelly is singing and releasing cds I could care less what the genre is.

  48. 48 weareallinnocent Jan 10th, 2009 at 6:16 pm

Back to say, the deed is done. Bought My December, even paid too much for it. But, it had to be done. :-)

I’ve only listened all the way through once, but I’m loving this CD. Quite a bit more than Breakaway (the only other Clarkson record I own) I believe. Especially from Sober to the end. Great work Kelly!

I feel like a better person now. LOL

  49. 49 oceana Jan 10th, 2009 at 11:29 pm

It’s hard to tell from a snippet but I have reservations about it. It might be too electronic for me. I hope the rest of the cd isn’t like that.

I want this cd to be a big success for Kelly. I’m a little bit sad though, if they made her sell out too much. Hope not. Got to hear the whole cd.

  50. 50 Quirky Jan 13th, 2009 at 9:22 am

I’m a huge Kelly fan, but I’ve gotta say that track sounds very dance-remix. I’ve listened to the whole song on z100 this morning and I’m just not loving it…yet. Maybe it’s a “grower”, but unless I get the urge to go to a rave I’m not sure I’m ever going to love this one from her. That being said, it will probably be a big hit! lol The public seems to be eating up music I don’t particularly care for right now. Well, I wish her the best of luck, and I definitely still look forward to buying her new album! :)
