Kevin Jonas Engaged

In case any of you care, Kevin, the oldest Jonas Brother at 21, just got engaged.   Jordin Sparks will be congratulating him when she sees  him on their next tour stop…

Kevin Jonas surprised his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa by showing up at her doorstep in New Jersey early Wednesday morning and dropping down to his knee to ask her to marry him. Presented with a cushion-cut diamond ring that Jonas designed with Jacob & Co., Deleasa couldn’t believe what was happening.

Then, “She said yes, yes, yes like 500 times super fast in a row,” the oldest of the Jonas Brothers tells PEOPLE exclusively.

  • Then she said, “money, money, money” like 500 times superfast in a row.

  • I thought the Jonas Brothers were a riot in the digital film short from the Saturday Night Live episode they were on this winter.

  • Nothing against those who want to wait, but what is there to applaud? Why denying your body something it asks you to just because you haven’t signed some papers that make you married to someone? Does anything really change the second you get married that makes you ready to do it?
To each their own, but it’s not something I’ll applaud. I’ll applaud those who are mature enough to know marriage is a big thing and don’t jump on it fast and furious.

    That makes sense to me!!!!

  • Poor Kevin is no match for the cynical idol posters. LOL. Marrying young is common among some communities that stress abstinence, but not when one of them is a big star. That is one stressful situation for a young couple just starting out. I wish them all the luck in the world.

Hey cookcricket, I too applaud anybody with that kind of self control. I’m just saying I don’t believe they’re really virgins. I mean, that’s a hell of a lot of self control. We don’t know either way. If he really is, then super!

Matt, I agree we don’t know either way. I just don’t think kids are given enough credit when it’s assumed that they can’t use self-control in this area. That’s all, just wanted to give my opinion, which may very well be the unpopular one. :)

  • Ahh, Kevin. Known in my head as ‘the ugly Jonas.’

LOL. My niece and I were discussing the Jo Bros today and we had a meeting of the minds using almost this exact phrase.

  • Ah, my favorite Jonas. I think among the brothers, he has the least controversial love life so hopefully, he and Danielle succeed in the fishbowl existence that the JoBros lead.

  • iluvai: I hope they all get married and go away fast. Even my young daughters dislike them and recognize their serious lack of talent. The Jo Bro’s are also super boring when hosting or interviewing.

While they’re not very good singers (although my wife insists that Nick’s singing will improve as his adolescent voice settles down), Nick, who’s the one who got the label’s attention in the first place, is a pretty talented multi-instrumentalist and a prolific songwriter. They’ve done some damn good pop-rock, thanks in large part to Nick. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other two will fade away and he’ll continue to be very successful, at least as a songwriter and producer if not as a frontman.

As for their interviews, I don’t know what interviews you’ve seen, but I’ve seen several in which they’ve been hilarious. They’re a very good interview — very quick wits.

Kinda like Kris and Katy Allen?? :smile_wp:

  • Too young. Hope it works out.

  • Aww. I’m happy for him. Though hopefully he won’t get off of The Jonas Brothers.
I mean if he does. Then the band is screwed. But, I’m still happy. (:

And it doesn’t matter if he’s young or not. He’s in love.
And it’s his choice if he wants to get married or not…

There are guys that do have that self-control, and it is indeed an admirable thing, :-) . Many teach our kids to wait until marriage. Some couples even go so far to not kiss until they have been pronounced husband and wife. I haven’t gotten much into the brothers. Maybe it’s because I have sons, not daughters, lol. But I wish Kevin the best.

  • Kinda like Kris and Katy Allen??

Well yes, actually. I worry about them too. And those two have the benefit of knowing each other a lot longer, and having something of a normal existence before fame hit. But as I said before, I wish Kevin and his future bride all the luck in the world!

  • Well maybe Kevin wanted to make an honest woman out of her…lol.

If a baby pops out nine months later I’m going to go PURITY RING! PURITY RING!

Hey, you never know, maybe he just couldn’t commit to the purity ring and did something bad. (bad for him and his family, not bad in the rest of the world sense)

Or maybe he’s just wanting to marry her. Who knows.

But I like the conspiracy all the same. :)

Not that I really care much about the JoBros, but they are pretty inescapable.

  • i think there was an article that came out where the writer called joe the hot one, nick the cute one, and kevin the other one because no one seems to remember him. the fans went nuts about it, but i thought it was funny.

anyway, i wish kevin and the girl a long and happy and successful marriage. :)

  • Which one(s) did Miley and Taylor Swift date? I can’t tell them apart either. My guess would be Nick, if he’s the talented one.

  • Matt, I agree we don’t know either way. I just don’t think kids are given enough credit when it’s assumed that they can’t use self-control in this area. That’s all, just wanted to give my opinion, which may very well be the unpopular one. :)

FWIW- I agree. For kids who are taught this from a young age, it IS possible. They do it for religious reasons. Good for them.

    Someone wrote about Kris Allen:

Well yes, actually. I worry about them too. And those two have the benefit of knowing each other a lot longer, and having something of a normal existence before fame hit.

I wonder about someone having a normal existence before fame hits. I would think that at least Kevin and his new wife would be used to the stardom and everything that comes with it. I worry more about Kris and Katy since fame could change him drastically, and she could have a very hard time after a while with how fans come after Kris. On the other hand, I see Kris’s fans being more like DA’s fans, and embracing the whole family. It will be interesting to see.

  • Too young. Hope it works out.

I know many couples who married young and made it. My mom was 18 and my dad was 24 when they got married and today 28 years later, they are the most in love couple i know!

My best friend was 21 and her husband was 24 when they got married and it’s worked out great for them! And I’ll add to that, both were virgins (*gasp*) when they got married, so the jonas bros aren’t the only ones!

I don’t think that just because they’re young doesn’t mean it won’t work out.

Good points. Kris doesn’t seem like the type to change too much so I worry about that kind of thing less with him. Its the separation part… not being able to see and talk to each other often, especially for the one who is not living their dream. Not only have they been apart since February, they are not likely to get any significant amount of time together until he comes off touring for his album, some time (hopefully) late next year. Maybe a week or two here and there, but that’s about it. And he will often be so busy that he can’t even call her some days. I always worry about the married idols who get signed for that reason. They’re such a sweet couple, I hope they pull through.

  • They’re such a sweet couple, I hope they pull through.

    I hope so too.

My mom was 18 and my dad 26 and they are still married 54 years later. I often think people have more of a chance if they have some sort of faith they share together, but I don’t remember my dad ever setting foot in a Sunday service.

  • RE: Kris and Katy

They’re such a sweet couple, I hope they pull through.

Me too!:) I remember reading where Chris Daughtry was giving some advice to Kris about the marriage/fame thing. I was touched by this and hope it all pays off.

^^^LK09: I always love hearing about these long lasting marriages. It gives us all hope ya’ know! Sadly, my parents were married for 30 years before getting divorced and my dad did go to church on a regular basis.

  • Crookcricket- Sorry, that is sad to be married that long and then break up…..

  • Since this is probably the final post and no one will remember it I’ll just say that if you are both virgins when you get married at least you can go through life wondering “is this all that there is” instead of knowing that you are missing something.
