Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and The Rest of The Top 10 – Check Them Out Here
After their big debut last night in Portland, Oregon, the Top 10 get a break tonight. They’re heading out to their next American Idols Live concert, taking place Tuesday night in Tacoma, WA.
In the meantime, I’ve been updating this post all day with videos of last night’s concert in Portland. I’ve got some photos up too, plus links to a few twitter accounts, and bloggers who covered the show last night. It’s one stop shopping, y’all.
Also if you’re looking for some last minute tickets to upcoming American Idols Live concerts, Ticketmaster often has some awesome seats at the last minute, as do the ticket brokers. Check out these links:
I got many responses to my request for show reporters. Thanks to everyone who replied! You’ll be hearing from me. If you’re going to an upcoming concert and would like to twitter, photograph, videograph and/or re-cap the show for the blog, contact me at mjsbigblog at gmail dot com. I’m looking to post your swag on the front page!
And a special thanks to the peeps who helped out last night and all day today with links to media, photos etc. I really appreciate it. Y’all rock.

I saw my first concert at the Tacoma Dome. I think it was Journey. I hope it doesn’t rain on them. LOL
The damn weather forecast keeps changing (funny how it does that, lol). I’m crossing all my fingers and toes for sun in Vancouver on Wed. Or at least just *not raining*.
If anyone still needs tickets to the Pittsburgh show, I’m selling mine on StubHub. Right now they’re the cheapest ones on there ($58/ticket): http://www.stubhub.com/american-idols-live-tickets/idols-in-concert-pittsburgh-mellon-arena-8-22-2009-821499/
I’m sort of in a bind, so any purchase would be appreciated more than you know!
I guess it’s only about a three hour drive from Portand to Tacoma? I am assuming the left this morning and have spent the day in Tacoma?
Yeah, it’s about that (depending on traffic). I’m wondering if they’ll stay in Tacoma overnight tomorrow and do the 3-3.5 hour drive to Vancouver in the morning, or come straight here so they have a full day in Vancouver…
I would think they would want a full day in Vancouver. I hear it is beautiful there. On my list of places to visit.
I would recommend trying Ticketmaster first. I just got some great tickets!
Wow.
I will be going to the show in Tacoma tomorrow, and who knows what the weather will be like. Welcome to the NW in the summer!
I saw a twitter from Matt G. earlier today and it was sent from a nice restaurant downtown Portland. I think they will probably leave for Tacoma in the morning and have plenty of time to prepare before the concert. It’s about 2 1/2 hours from Portland to Tacoma, barring awful traffic (known to happen).
I will be tweeting from the concert tomorrow for MJ and will also bring my camera so maybe I can get a couple of good pictures. I don’t know if I’m the type to wait by the buses afterward, but we’ll see how much of a drooling fantard I am after the concert.
By the way, I got my ticket from Ticketmaster just last week, and it’s pretty good (center, floor about 1/2 way back of the first section).
I think they actually stayed in Portland and will be heading to Tacoma early tomorrow morning. Matt posted a picture of the Portland skyline from a restaurant he ate in today on his twitter page and Adam talked yesterday about hoping to have a chance to get out and see some of Portland on their day off.
If they stay overnight anywhere do they get hotels? I’m not planning on stalking them since I have a life but I was just curious. I was wondering if once they board the bus they stay on the bus. If thats the case I bet they will be getting on each others nerves midway through the tour.
They do get hotels every night, but they often have to spend long travel days on the bus, so that’s why they have bunks. Even having hotel rooms won’t keep them from getting on one another’s nerves, though.
I traveled with a singing group (not nearly as big a deal as this!) a number of years ago, and after 3 months together it felt like we had been together for 20 years (and that we lived and died on the bus). After the tour was over I was more exhausted than I have ever been in my life. I really feel for Kris, Adam and Allison because they will be spending their “free time” flying to LA to record music — fun but even more tiring. Adam will probably have a lot of insight to share with the others because he’s toured before and knows the drill. It’s a blast but really wearing–and you start forgetting where you are after a while! On the other hand, I know that no matter how crappy my mood was during the day, it all changed when we went on stage. The energy of the crowd and the music really does take over and you end up energized by the end.
I REALLY admire artists who are getting up there in age (like me!) and still tour because it really is hard work. In addition to expending tons of energy during every performance and making sure you take care of yourself (’cause if you get sick you still have to perform), you also have other obligations like doing press and publicity. Plus riding on a bus can be exhausting and boring, even when you try to be productive.
I’m sure that these guys will always remember this time and will have lots of stories after it’s all over (many of which I am sure they will NEVER share!).
The Tacoma Dome is a truly miserable and depressing venue. I went to a high school graduation there a couple of years ago and it was so filthy and rickety. Maybe it has been cleaned up since then.
I have two tickets to Vancouver that I can’t get rid of. It peeves me because I bought them foolishly in the first place, on whim, hoping I could make it to Canada but it just didn’t pan out
They are section 104, row 25 if anyone’s interested. I’d let them go for $100 all together at this point.
Cellar: post them on Stubhub, or the “official” web sites for the Idols.
If it’s anything like last year, the Idols get on their buses, after the show & autographs, at midnight. They travel to the next city and then check into hotel rooms on arrival. They stay there until early afternoon, then bus on over to the venue. It only seems to vary when there’s an off day.
Well, I just bought my ticket to another show. I knew I would weaken once the videos came out. The two LA shows are so close together (mileage) and one night apart. Two nights in a row, of Adam! Next week! Oh my!
Yes, this is exactly how I remember from last year and Season 5, the only two tours I went to.
You should def go. It is the most beautiful city in the Americas — in the Summer. And, since most Canadians are so nice, Vancouver is a big city filled with nice people.
And, yes, I hope they get to spend a day off there, too. It will be Kris’ first time in Canada and Adam’s first time in BC so it would be sad if all they see is the view from the bus windows, hotel and arena.
Indeed lizardino, you have to admire guys like Aerosmith and Rolling Stones who qualify for senior discounts and are still touring, bwah.
Mind you the Rolling Stones likely have a private jet, I know Bon Jovi does, not sure about Aerosmith, and that helps, but a lot of the 80 revival bands that are back touring now don’t have that luxury. It’s back on the bus.
I saw the Rolling Stones 3 times on their Bigger Bang Tour 2005-2006. They were amazing! Mick Jagger may look old as the hills, but the guy can still jump around like a flea! Its amazing that he and Keith (especially Keith) are still around – they weren’t exactly choir boys.
Ahhhhh, its so sad, MJ gone just when he was set to do a tour. Its kinda strange, I happened to see his will online and it was dated July 7, 2002, exactly 7 years ago and then to see his picture onstage during one of his last rehearsals with the banner THIS IS IT right above his head. Almost like it was preordained.
For those who posted on previous threads that Adam is too old to achieve stardom, maybe MJ was too young. He wasn’t able to overcome the pressure of early fame, perhaps Adam is better off he’s “old”! Using the Stones as a guide, that gives him over 35 years left to tour! I think that’s a significant amount of time!
Go Stones!
RIP MJ
Go Adam!
I’ll be seeing them tomorrow night at GM Place, here in Vancouver BC. Yes, really hoping it won’t rain and hoping they will enjoy their stay here. First time, AI Tour is coming to BC. See you, Scott!
It IS very beautiful, especially when the sun is shining (regardless of the temp, but obviously warm/hot is nicer, IMO!). I was soooo hoping the gorgeous weather we’ve been having would hold, but yesterday and today have been yucky. :thumbdown_tb: :annoyed_tb: But who knows, it could change overnight back to beautiful (this happens regularly – we have schizophrenic weather, lol).
The downtown core is in a bit of a shambles (well, one street is – I work half a block away so maybe I’m just more affected by it), what with the final cosmetic preparations for the Olympics (can’t believe that’s only 7 months away!), but it’s a great city. …[wonders which hotel they'll be staying at... not going to stalk, just curious! heh. Depends on the AI budget I guess - fancy-schmancy or merely serviceable.]
According to all their Tweets in the last two hours, they spent last night in Portland and left for Tacoma about 2 hours ago. Nice that they got a full day of rest!
