The four year wait for a new Lauren Alaina album is nearly over.
The American Idol season 10 runner-up revealed in a recent interview with The Boot, that her sophomore album is almost ready be be released.
“I’m so excited,” she said. “I don’t have a release date or anything, but I just finished it. It’s been with the mixer, so we’ve been going back and forth, trying to get all of the tweaks worked out. It’s finished, and we’re about to start touring again and promoting it. We’re going to drop the single soon, and then the album will come out after that.”
Unlike Lauren’s debut album, Wildfiower, the singer has co-written nearly every song on the new record.
“There’s 12 songs on the album, and I wrote all of them but one,” she revealed. “I had plenty of time to work on it. I worked on it for about two years.” (For a complete list of co-writes, compiled by Windmills over the weeks, click this link.)

Lauren expects the next single to come out within a few months. “I hate to say dates, because I always pin myself, but late summer/early fall for the single.”
Vocal cord surgery took Lauren off the road last year, but the setback turned into a blessing, as it gave her the opportunity to concentrate on the new record. It was difficult, but on the other hand, Lauren said that her time off “was the best growing experience I’ve ever had.”
“Out of everything I’ve ever done, I had time to figure myself out, come into my sound,” she said. “I’m excited for people to hear it,” she said of the upcoming album, “It’s a new me.”
Lauren made several appearances during this past weekend’s CMA Music Festival in Nashville. She played for the winning team, iHeart at the annual City of Hope softball game, and she debuted new songs on stage.
