Lee DeWyze Covers Marilyn Manson’s ‘Beautiful People’ – Old Record Label Plans to Release More Music

UPDATE: I just spoke with a rep from Lee’s old label and he tells me they plan on releasing more of Lee’s old material, but will “talk with Lee about which material.”

TMZ is reporting that Wuli Records, Lee DeWyze’s old record label, has “released” a cover of Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People, ” that was recorded but never released.

The gossip rag has a bleeped-out stream of the song posted at their site.

Before Idol, Lee DeWyze released two albums through the Chicago-based independent record label.

As Lee continued to succeed on Idol, Wuli released both albums and an additional single, “Princess (Reprise)” on iTunes.

eta: Now I’m learning “Beautiful People” is a free download at Wuli records site HERE.

Listen to an unedited version of “Beautiful People” here (different version than the TMZ stream)

Lee DeWyze – Beautiful People

It’s a solid acoustic rendition of Manson’s tune.

When asked about his old material in interviews, Lee keeps his answers really short and to the point–along the lines of “I’m looking forward to releasing my first major label album”.

The peeps at 19 can’t be digging this old material making it’s way to the public.  But it’s not like they have any control over material they don’t own…
